Episode Recap: "Release the Hounds"

For a second just now, as I typed the above title, I was like, "What is that line in reference to...?" And then it hit me — that first scene, and Nancy's mammogram. Ha!

OK, this was an "up" week in Weeds' Season 3 roller coaster. Dean's horrific/pathetic motorcycle crash seems like it will move some story along in that he looks destined for recuperation at Celia's new manse — and just as his ex is cozying up to Sullivan. Speaking of Modine's character, I have a very bad feeling he is purely playing Celia. Totally using her. And maybe, just maybe, Dean and Belly will be there to catch her when she falls. ("God protects the stupid," right, C?)

Conrad's back! It was just one scene, but I hope we get to finish out the season (four more episodes to go...) by seeing him work Silas like his b--ch. Loved Conrad negotiating his "babysitting" fee based on the suburbs' going rate. (Note: My wife and I only pay $10/hour but are pretty good about "rounding up").

I never thought these words would come out of my Blackberry, but I am really falling for Mary-Kate Olsen. Maybe it's just the character, maybe Tara is simply close to the actress' real self, but I relish every scene she is in and every word from her mouth.

Sanjay: "I'm gay."
Tara: [Without missing a beat] "You can get help for that."

"The Lord wants me to sell pot. He also wants me to get a new BMW."

The "Two Mrs. Scottsons" story resumed this week, with an eventual sort of d้tente between the ladies. Nancy never quite explained her "stalking," though I reckon she is looking for someone to grieve with. The look Valerie gave as Nance divulged such things as "I started sketching again..." were priceless and totally fitting.

Bullets, then I be gone:
• Nancy to Valerie: "Nice meeting you... even though you're kind of a bitch."
• Nancy pondering Val's proctologist joke: "You have short fingernails but a lot of anger...."
• Animal pee "saving" Dean's life — ewwww.
• Celia to blubbering Belly: "Will you drop the Steel Magnolias bit?!"

I really liked this episode. Dean, Dough and Andy are back. Conrad is back.. now we just need it all to mesh back into the same story and Weeds is back!

I hate to admit it too, but Tara is really growing on me. Something about the character that just makes me smile and wanting to see her again.

I loved the "Two Mrs. Scottsons" bonding. I hope they keep that relationship going.

As an overall episode I give it an A. I laughed through most of it, and Isabelle being so upset made me teary as well. All I miss is some more Nancy, Heylia, Conrad interaction and I would be set to go.

The ending was hilarious. Over the top, but in true Weeds style I totally bought it.

I really enjoyed this episode. And, as weird as it is, I'm also really enjoying Tara. When Nancy warned her about the fact that she was about to engage in illegal activity, her response ("I answer to a higher power") was great.

And Sullivan should have known better than to cancel Doug's membership! Ofcourse he's going to retaliate!

"The Lord wants me to sell pot. He also wants me to get a new BMW." The Lord also wants me to have a new BMW.

I want to know what's up with Nancy's new friendship with Val....what is she up too.

Andy, Doug, and Dean..I love those 3 together.

Love seeing Sanjay back(for some dumb reason I keep calling him Sanjaya). I wonder if Nancy will tell him about his impending fatherhood.

Finally, this episode had me rolling. Especially Doug. Kevin Nealon in this role is a riot. His dance at the end was the funniest thing that I ever saw. Did anybody catch him doing the robot?

The Lord wants me to sell pot. He also wants me to get a new BMW." You forgot "preferrably a convertible." HAHAHA!!

Great show this week. Very glad to see more of the old characters. Loved poor Dean getting peed on by "more than one animal."

Doug, Doug, Doug - when he carries a grudge WATCH OUT!! I couldn't believe he actually sabatoged the sewer. That poo geyser was SO GROSS!!!!

Did Andy show some interest in Valerie? I wonder where the Valerie/Nancy relationship is heading.

Not trusting Sullivan at all. I want Celia and Doug to get back together and I want Celia to accept Belly for who she is.

Can't wait for next week.

Thanks Melissa, for remembering the kicker of that line "preferably a convertible" is what sold it. :)

Lizzybelle- totally saw Doug do the robot. Even though it was in front of that disgusting geyser, it was still the robot, and still funny.

Re: Tara. I'm with you guys. I never thought she (MKO) would grow on me but she had me at "God grows weed", to paraphrase.

Valerie, Valerie, Valerie. I have yet to see anyone type that actress' name into a comment or the official blog here. Brooke Smith! Respect!
I totally love the dry humor now that the two Mrs. Scottson's have made friends. Now, when is Nancy going to finally fess up and tell her that she and Peter were married, not just *(&(*ng?

Ha-ha. I don't know if it's right to say that Nancy "has come a long way" or if she's sunk to new lows with Silas. After "I never wanted this for you" when he went to sell pot on his community service to going to Conrad and telling him to make Silas his pot-growing "bitch"...I dunno. I like it, I like where the story can go with this, but I just don't see how Nancy can go from anti-drug-mom in season one to hell with it, teach my boy to grow really luscious marijuana by the third season.

I agree with you, but desperate times deserve desperate measures. Do you think (as previews suggest) that once Nancy gets the insurance money from Peter's estate, she might shut down Silas's involvement in the weed business, send him to school, etc. At this point it seems that even little Shane is participating, which I find even more disturbing .... ***it's only a show.....it's only a show.....it's only a show....***
