March 23, 2007: Still Running...
So the runaway bride returned tonight for a second shot at wedded bliss, only to run again! This time I thought for sure it would have been her beau, Lucas (Jeffrey Stubblefield), who would have bailed in the final moments. Especially after he admitted to David how embarrassed he was when DeDe (Pamela Adlon) ran out on him the first time. I could have sworn he had the look of sweet revenge in his eyes, but I guess I was wrong.
Further proof that my guessing skills were completely off this evening, I also found myself incorrectly thinking Cedric was going to tell Debbie he was ready to take the plunge, when he first pulled her aside tonight. I'm not sure I could have been more wrong on that one. Telling Debbie it would take "no longer than six years" for him to make his decision made my jaw drop. Surely he had to know how Debbie would react and if he didn't, then he must not know her very well. To say she was pissed would be a huge understatement.
Ironically, on the other end of the wedding spectrum, someone else was ready to give marriage a fifth try tonight. Candace Sinclair (Jessica Walter) arrived at the Wedding Palace, ready to wed the hunky Robert Harris (Paul Greene). Not surprisingly, Sammy also took a liking to Robert and even managed to give the groom one final kiss to remember, before he dedicated his lips to Candace, forevermore. What did surprise me was how well Candace took the news, when Robert admitted to her what he had done. Though I do believe I detected a hint of agitation, when Candace told Sammy she knew about the kiss and that "it would never happen again." Yikes!
And although Ernesto was noticeably absent tonight, Jane still appeared to be struggling with thoughts about her own marriage. When Jane asked Russell if he thought his "primary marital needs were being met," I thought she posed an excellent question. Until he had to go and say he'd like a foot rub more often. OK, foot rubs are really nice, but how could he be so clueless and not realize that she was searching for something deeper?
Adding a little pizzazz to the night was Amanda, who, after deciding not to sue the Wedding Palace for sending her up in flames on her wedding day, opted to become a board member instead. I will say, it's fun to watch Amanda morph between being cold and stern to vulnerable and almost childlike at times. I think this new dynamic will certainly shake things up at the Palace and make for an interesting season.
Oh, and how much do I love Air Supply? Let's just say the lyrics to Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You) are still stuck in my head....

I disagree with you about Amanda - to me, that was the moment this show jumped the shark. I found her addressing people by their title funny in the first episode, amusing in the second, and totally annoying by tonight's episode. Somebody slap that girl and wake her up!
For me, this show has major limitations - the characters are one dimensional and the stories are already being repeated. When will Jane and Russell get steamy? Who will Sammy flirt/kiss/sleep with this week? When will the photographer and middle sister get back together?
Great premise and pilot, but I don't think the show has legs.

This show was fun to watch, while the usual Friday night shows were on hiatus. However, starting this Friday, Wedding Bells goes up against Close to Home, Raines, and Six Degrees. It doesn't stand a snowball's chance in h*ll of surviving. Do I care? Yawn...

This show has its moments for me. I found myself laughing out loud, especially concerning Debbie, her reluctant beau and the Twins, who must be professional wedding-crashers by now.
The runnaway bride was not a sympathetic or likable character for me. I hope she stays on that bus and we never see her again.
The one storyline that range true was Jane's concerning the lack of communication or passion in her marriage and the fact that she is unfulfilled. She was trying to tell her husband that her needs aren't being met and he was concentrating on his own needs, i.e. a foot rub. If these two don't get down and have a heart-to-heart talk, someone is going to cheat.
Sammy is coming off as a ho and the middle sister comes off as a cold-hearted you know what.
I found the wedding and the love between Candace and Robert as unbelievable. Candace must be loaded, because she was old enough to be his mother. By the way, I thought that the actor who portrayed Robert looked alot like David Beckham.

I love this show. I think the acting is great. The music is great. It is fun and light and entertaining. I would watch it no matter what night it was on. I just wish the networks would realize that there are people home on the weekends and put a good show on Saturday...I am glad I found this show. I really hope they will give it a change. I tried to watch 6 degrees since they brought it back but was a little dissappointed.

Amanda has to be the most unlikable, annoying character on television. She is even more annoying that Marie Barone (if that could be possible). Featuring her on a weekly basis is definitely going to put the nail in the coffin on this show (which is walking on thin ice already). She was okay for the one episode, but to bring her back as a regular was a mistake. All the other characters are likeable or tolerable. (Debbie is a hoot and my how "Maggie Sheffield" has changed!). If the show continues, Russell's cluelessness is probably going to be a pivotal issue in Jane having an affair.
