April 6, 2007: The Final Bell
As most of you know by now, Wedding Bells was given the axe this past week. Which means yesterday's episode was the last and from what I've heard, the actors didn't even complete filming the season finale. So, more likely than not, this show will never make it to DVD. Which is a shame, considering how many loose ends we were left with last night.
For starters, we'll never know if that kiss between Annie and David would have amounted to anything more or if it was just a result of them getting too caught-up in the moment. I'd like to think they would have given their romance a second chance, as their chemistry was undeniable. If they had though, I’m sure it would have been a rocky road for them. Which could have translated to a lot of fun drama for us...but we'll never know.
We'll also never know if Russell would have been able to successfully start a franchise for the Wedding Palace in Vegas. Although, with all of that money Amanda was helping them rake in last night, they certainly would have had the funds to take a chance on expanding the business. Speaking of Amanda, I didn't mind watching her swindle a fifty thousand dollar retainer fee from Tricia (Abigail Spencer), who somehow seemed deserving of the ploy, but I did feel bad for the unpretentious Allie (Brooke Bloom). My stomach turned when Amanda insinuated that Allie's family should re-mortgage their home, in order to provide Allie with a grander wedding.
On a lighter note, it was fun watching Cedric and Ralph attend "Wedding Singer School." I think Billy Ray Popcorn (Fred Willard) was the perfect teacher and it sure seemed like Cedric enjoyed the tutorial. Ralph was a little less enchanted with the session, but if I'm not mistaken, he did end up utilizing some of Billy Ray's advice to entertain wedding guests later in the show. There's nothing like a good head bob, wink and point to get a crowd rocking!
Then there was Chrissie (Christina Moore), the "most beautiful girl in the world." At least, that's what Chrissie thought. So how funny was it that while she was stressing about being the "most beautiful bride ever," that fate would deal her with an allergic blow, giving her "Mick Jagger lips" just in time for the ceremony? Ah, the sweet taste of karma.
Finally, I have to say the one story line I won't miss, will be the repeated references suggesting that Jane was not as attractive as Annie. Jane was beautiful and I never quite understood why they always had her playing second fiddle to Annie in the looks department.
Okay, so I guess that brings us to our end. I hope you all enjoyed watching the show, I know I did. I also want to thank everyone who joined me on this blog...it was a pleasure taking this ride with you!

I enjoyed this show and I'll be sorry to see it go. I loved Missi Pyle as Amanda. She made me laugh out loud many times. Now, did anyone else think that Chrissie, in full blown allergic reaction, looked like Denise Richards??

It's too bad that this show has been cancelled, because last night's show was pretty good. I think this show was finally finding its footing. It would've been great if they could've moved The Wedding Palace to Las Vegas. Could you imaging the stories they could've portrayed in that wacky town?
I did, however, miss Debbie last night. Missi Pyle was a hoot in a very difficult role.
Oh, well, it's back to Food TV during this time frame.
Thanks for the blog.

I too really liked this show. At the end of the week I want to be entertained not burning up brain cells trying to figure out who done it!? I am truly getting upset w/the networks for pulling shows without giving them a chance. They are forgetting that wedding shows do very well on other networks. JM

I liked the show too. But I actually thought lasts nights ep ended in a way that made sense if there weren't going to be any more eps. Amanda started to become a person (and formed a relationship with "youngest wedding planner"). Annie and David were back on the right track. It's even had that line about never having a normal wedding, as if to say, "well, it will always be like this, but we've proven we can handle it." It seemed like the end of a rom com. You don't really get more than the initial "look it's going in the right direction" items, and it's up to the viewer to imagine that it stays that way. Either way, it was some fun on Fridays, and I hope that since it's gone, they come up with something good for next season!

I do not understand why they did keep this show on. What will they replace it with - more lame reruns. I loved this show and look forward to seeing it every week. I guess I will have to rent movies or just stop watching TV altogether. I am really tired of liking a show and they take it off the air and then leave on such lame shows as Acoording to Jim, King of Queens, ER, Wife Swapping, etc.

It doesn't make sense to pull a show in the middle of its run. The network obviously doesn't have anything to replace it! Next week they are playing a movie and the following week, its a Bones rerun. Why don't they just let the show finish out its season and then thats that. I just don't understand. I enjoyed watching this show very much. It was a good romantic comedy to end my week. (Like when MIT started on Fridays)

As a television major in college (yes, they do have classes for this stuff), I am so embarrassed by the state of television these days. It's RIDICULOUS! How a David E. Kelley show could be cancelled after what 6 episodes? This man is a producer/creator with a proven, solid record. If his show can't make it, what will? Another "fake" reality show?
It's like the networks are run by complete morons. I've never been so disappointed in the television choices than I am today. It breaks my heart!

BedeliaTV - I am in awe of you. A television major. Wow. I agree with you about the genius that is David E. Kelley. Granted this show may not have been as good as some of his others (I still miss Picket Fences) but it was certainly fun to watch and I agree with phatkhatt, it's sooooo much better than whatever drivel they'll replace it with. I'm so sick of this crap!
Well, thanks for your hard work Erin. I enjoyed it while it lasted.

This show was brilliant! I'm in shock it was axed. If it were not for 24, I'd ban Fox all together. Wrong decision to cancel this one! I'm so sad.

I noticed my DVR wasn't recording Wedding Bells tonight so I came here to find out when the next episode would be. It shocked me it was canceled! I loved the show!
It had a great ensemble cast. The storylines were great, funny and the concept was original.

Dear Addisyn, yes Fox just pulled it out of their friday lineup. Rumor has it that they are going to air the last 2 episode soon. Who knows why they did this they didn't even allow this to develope a following. So the ratings were soft, but for goodness sake it just started. I keep checking the Fox website for air dates,I let you know. JM

This totally makes me mad. I was really getting into this show. I think they should have moved it to a different day and time slot. First, they get rid of The O.C. and now this. I totally agree with Cimn, guess its back to watching movies. I might as well cancel my Cable TV, because there are really only three shows I enjoy watching one is American Idol, which is only on from January - May, One Tree Hill, which I can't seem to find when it is coming back on the air, and Big Brother, which is only during the summer.

I'm so disappointed. I really looked forward to having something to laugh with on Friday nights. It was a good destressor and really funny and well-written. I've always liked Terri Polo, and I had never seen Ms. Pyle. She was hilarious. They're making a big mistake taking this off. There's absolutely nothing else worth watching on Friday night.
