Awk-ward! A romantic restaurant helped put Betty and Henry's "just friends" idea to rest. America Ferrera and Christopher Gorham by Dean Hendler/ABC
Episode Recap: "A League of Their Own"

Henry + Betty = Love. So, what do you think? I know many of you, like me, adore the adorkable Henry, and think he and Betty are perfect for each other. But others have commented that Betty needs someone like Gio, a guy who will challenge her and bring some spice into her life (and who doesn't have a child by another woman, at least as far as we know, to complicate matters). You have a point, too. According to the promo for next week, it looks like the renewed relationship won't be all roses.

But honestly, I don't know that Betty would have survived (or understood) the ways of online dating, starting with the importance of watching your spelling. At the Pinz bowling alley, once Niceguy47 made a remark about her photo and kept glancing at his watch, we all knew he'd bail. Oh, Betty, so blissfully ignorant to the New York dating scene! But our Henry was there, watching out for her — or jealously stalking her.

Their just-friends mantra failed miserably, of course, at a candlelit restaurant that offered roses and violin music. But the writers really did have me fooled: I thought Henry would leave "Mode" at Betty's request, and we'd see him only fleetingly elsewhere within the Meade empire. Good for Betty for taking a risk, following her heart and doing something impulsive for once in her sensible life.

Theirs wasn't the only risk taken for love. Mr. St. James met Mr. St. Paul and hilarious lines ensued, including "buy a girl a drink first!" and "I'll sign for that package." At first "New Cashmere" picked "Underwear Model" Guy over "Old Cat Hair" Guy, and I was afraid dear Marc was too shallow to choose substance over hotness/stupidity. So pleased then to see Cliff set him straight (no pun intended), and Marc came to his senses. (Aside: Marc's model poses were horrible! Wouldn't you think he watches ANTM, like me?) Regardless, the downside to his new pursuit was that it left a Marc/Amanda void in my soul. (But "you're a bitch, I'm a seven" will nurse the wound.)

At least we got to see a bit more of Christina, giddily taking measurements at a male model's underwear fitting ("they never catch on") and being discovered on the Internet dating site by her hubby across the pond (!).

And what of the Meades? Thank God we didn't have to wait the whole season for Alexis to find herself. Too bad that entailed remembering that Bradford hates the new "her" and that she went so far as to plot his murder. The truth sucks. Daniel, despite being called a screwup, still defended his father. He wants so badly to smooth things over within his family.

He's just like his mother. Claire decided she and Yoga would have to abandon their parties with the Piano Man so that she could turn herself in (again), this time to be accessible to her children. But through a riflescope (ha!), "Crazy Pesce" saw in the flesh what she had envisioned: the Meade children, happy with their father, brought together by Wilhelmina. (Yeah, right. "Mommy made fondue." Need I say more?)

As for Justin and Hilda, they continued to mourn Santos' death in their own (very separate) ways. Hilda befriended some widowed "golden girls" and took on their penchant for quilting and early-bird dinners. Justin and friends (last week's makeout girl plus a buddy) stole Hilda's car, wrecking it and a tree. The accident snapped Hilda back into her attentive-mother mode and sweetly brought the two back together.

What did you think of this week's episode? Are Betty and Henry meant to be? Have we seen the end of Justin's rebellious streak? Leave your comments below!

P.S. I want a copy of that Meade family Christmas photo.

Best episode this season. How sweet was the scene with Hilda and Justin?
I laughed out loud at Betty reading all internet emails. "I like Tacos...I like Tacitos...." and of course "I like blowing"

The show is really on its game.

Wow, the blogs got up quickly. Thanks Aimee. Nice to comment while it is still somewhat fresh.

I really do like Henry. It does seem a bit stalkerish to spy on her at the bowling alley, but it did not seem he was actually going to crash the date till he saw the internet date leave. Their "friends" date at the restaurant cracked me up. After he pulls out her chair like a gentleman and she gives him a "what are you doing" look, Henry nervously and uncharacteristically says: "this is for me. Sucks to be you!" Too funny.

Betty and Henry fighting like children during the meeting was a hoot as well...and all too familiar from family road trips: "Here's the line. Stay on your side."

A few others laughs:

Amanda answering Betty's internet ads with Mexican food names (was it 'I love Tacos,' etc?) **oops, wrigleygui answered that question for me while I was still posting. Sorry bout that repeat.

Christina altering men's underwear unbeknownst to the male model that they can't be altered.

Betty running through Daniel's messages and the responses she gave on his behalf: "Kathy Griffin is begging for a date. I said no."

The Justin/Hilda storyline feels all wrong. Too forced. Almost like they are just throwing plot devices at the wall to see what sticks.

Now Henry and Betty were so adorkable I could have died! I like the fact Betty quit trying to use her head to get through her issues with Henry and used her heart. Even if it doesn't last it would still help her grow as a person/character.

I so want Bradford to find out Wilhemina tanked Mode and dump her for it. I think messing with the bottom line would be a deal breaker for him!

Great episode. Only one scene between Marc and Amanda, but hilarious.

I was proud of Marc too for picking Cliff over dumb airhead underwear model, and loved Cliff introducing Marc to my two favorite Hitchcock movies: Psycho and Rear Window.

I hope we have our sweet Justine back for good; I didn't want to spend the entire season with him going off the rails.

I hate that the writers are jerking us around with Henry and Betty, but I guess we have to enjoy whatever crumbs they throw at us.

In a season just about berift of anything new to watch --- Dirty Sexy Money and maybe Pushing Daisies the exception --- Ugly Betty just continues to give me pleasure. The show is even better than it was last year confronting some issues with pathos and a shot of reality, while still playing the quirk-card. I thought the scene between Hilda and Justin was perfect as was Justin's acting out in grief after the death of his father. I do hope he morphes back to the adorable Broadway-musical, fashionista loving delight that he was before.
Go Betty!

The best line of the night:

"This is for me. Sucks for you." Omg, I couldn't stop laughing.

I love, love, love the photographer and Marc. I was all giddy when they were flirting with eachother. Lucky for Marc. Cliff is a cutie.

No one mentioned yet, when Betty looks up at the underwear model and sees Henry instead? Nice bod my friend :) Henry's not so geeky half-naked. LOL

This is by far my favorite show this season. I love Betty and the rest of the crew.

1 more thing, at the end when Justin was brought to the house by the female cop and you hear the sirens. One of the old ladies says, "who died!?" That was too funny. Great episode last night.

The Betty/Henry pairing was sweet at first but slowly started to annoy me. After meeting her other potential suitor, I'd like to see Betty paired with F-Rod. I like Henry's character but we really only know him for pining over Betty. Let's see his character develop a bit before Benry (has this nickname been established yet?) comes to be. I loved the episode though. I agree there needed to be more Marc and Amanda in this ep. but I like Marc new love interest. And the Hilda/Justin story was gut-wrenching once again. I was happy to see it looks like they'll be starting the healing process. Seeing Justin acting tough was like watching the Jets and the Sharks.

Benry (has this nickname been established yet?) --

Must we do a "blended" name? Ugh.

I think my favorite relationship on the show is Betty and Daniel.

You're wearing your lucky poncho. It's not taco tuesday. And then she told him about the date.

Betty: Besides, it's not like I'm writing "Betty loves Henry" all over my notebook or anything.

Daniel: [pointing] Um...

Betty: Shut up.

Haha Jayhawk...I hate the blended nicknames too but I'm also lazy when it comes to typing. This time the laziness prevailed. Plus I was hoping to be credited with the creation of the name but I'm sure its been said already. Anyhow, again...great ep.

The "Yes. I love blowing." line cracked me up so much that I ended up choking with tears running down my face. I could not stop laughing!!

How sweet that Daniel knew about Betty's lucky sweater.

Amanda's responses to Betty's internet ad were hilarious.

I hope Marc finds some happiness with the photographer.

Benry!!! i love it lol...

ok this episode was great!! I LOVED the interaction between amanda and marc when she came to tell him about betty's internet dating:

Marc: What? I'm an 8 he's a 9
Amanda: He's a 10 you're a 6
Marc: You're a bitch, i'm a 7...

THAT WAS HYSTERICAL! i love those 2 together.

LOVE LOVE Christina, she's a hoot and everything she says is even funnier in her scottish accent...glad to see she's going to get more of a storyline now that her hubby has found her!
I hope daniel and alexis can smooth over the rift that reformed, i was liking their interaction lately.

The hilda/justin scene almost made me cry...people go thru grief in many different ways and the poster who said it feels forced obviously hasn't had the death of a close loved one.

There are SO many storylines in this show its hard to keep up but i love it!! Eww next weeks promo had that weird cocky guy back...pahleeze betty henry is so cute and sweet and that other guy is a tool!

P.S. How funny was Kenny, henry's accounting buddy last nite? Bring him back more please! he's funny AND cute :)
