Suggestion: alerts for upcoming shows
Suggestion:
Create an agent tool that lets customers specify a movie or particular episode of a show and recieve alerts if that show ever shows up on the future schedule for the customer's TV/cable/sat service provider.
E.g., a particular foreign for-TV movie that isn't available on disc anywhere, or an episode of a TV show that was missed, so you'd like to see it when it comes up again.
This is very different than having to manually search future listings every week since people won't bother to do that for years without finding the movie, but an automatic agent would be useful. It would also help cable companies know old movies and show episodes people want to see.

I agree that it is a good idea, but there are too many, so it would have to have a dedicated data base to do that. I have done similar in "Wish List" items on one of my TiVos, but sometimes give up and just pay for the overpriced out of print video. I wish that some of the Public TV shows from the 70s would be reshown or available on DVD (ie 2 Offenbach operettas performed by the French ballet in a very naughty little pair of shows). I saw them the year before I bought my first BETA recorder. BTW thanks to TV Guide for telling us when we can expect new Desperate Hswvs, D S Money, Pushing Daisys etc; I love Project Runway, Top Chef et al, but can only watch just so many decor and cooking...
