C'mon TV Guide, bring back the BIG MOVIE GUIDE. How the heck can you get rid of the only useful way to plan for movies on TV?

It appears that the staff at TV guide does not respond to questions about the on line services. I have sent many inquiries about the big movie guide and never got a reponse. The balance of their service is meaningless to me since I do alot of time shifting.

Sorry to hear that you haven't gotten a response to your e-mails.
In answer to your question of what happened to the Big Movie Guide is that its functionality has been moved into the Listings Grid (http://www.tvguide.com/Listings/default.aspx)
There is a pull down menu at the top of the grid (labeled "All Channels") that has a menu item for Movies on TV, Sports or Family Friendly programming.

C'mon TV guide
Bring back the "Big Movie Guide!!"
There are thousands of movies on TV every month. The old website let you slice through all the noise by sorting all of it by TV Guide rating. You could ID the good stuff for two weeks out, in 2 minutes flat. This is all gone now.

Hi Folks -
With the Big Movie Guide gone, and all of us stuck with a DVR and nothing to record movie-wise, I've done some research and found some alternatives. While they are not as good as the Big Movie Guide was, it's at least something. Take down these TWO alternative resources...
1) AOL offers free movie reccomendations two weeks out, with the time/date/correct local channel #. Go to:
http://tvlistings.aol.com/listings
Instructions: Enter zip code, chose your cable system, log in using your aol or aim account, or register free. Once logged in, on listings grid click the "Reccomendations" tab, then you can select "movies" and peruse the next 14 days of "reccomended" movies. The tool works well, and culls through thousands of movies to show you the good ones only [approx 3-star and better, that's my guess], and you can also make the reccomendations smarter by telling aol if you prefer indie films vs mainstream, or a little of both. This is a pretty good service, I found a bunch of good movies to record on my DVR. Better than TV guIde's totally worthless current tools that say nothing about what GOOD MOVIES ARE COMING UP in the next few weeks.
2) Los Angeles Times has some really good movies-on-tv reccomendations too. They only look 1 week forward, and you only get the name of the channel [like Cinemax] not the local channel number on your TV, but the reccomendations are in great categories and have star ratings too. Thank you LA Times!!
Four-Star Movies coming up in the next week... http://www.calendarlive.com/tv/cl-tv-4star,0,4433869.htmlstory
Box Office Hits coming up in the next week... http://www.calendarlive.com/tv/cl-tv-boxoffice,0,2520986.htmlstory
Indies & Imports coming up in the next week... http://www.calendarlive.com/tv/cl-tv-indies,0,6513881.htmlstory
Complete A-Z list of all movies coming up in the next week... http://www.calendarlive.com/tv/cl-tv-movies,0,5133047.htmlstory
In closing, is it me or is this pathetic that we have to leave TV Guide.com for this? I think it's a disgrace quite frankly. To think that TV guide's only remaining forray into providing advance value added intelligence about movies on TV - the pathetic "Movies on TV Hot List" - only has 5 reccomended movies, and allows you to plan ahead ZERO days, ZERO days!!!! Sad indeed.

"In answer to your question of what happened to the Big Movie Guide is that its functionality has been moved into the Listings Grid (http://www.tvguide.com/Listings/default.aspx)"
Nice try, Dave, but that doesn't even come close to the functionality of the Big Movie (or Sports) Guide. It's a little like saying there's no need for a phone book because you can just try dialing all the numbers until you hit the right one.
If I recall correctly, one of the primary rationales for eliminating the movie and sports guides from the print magazine was that you could get the same information from the website in an updated and interactive form. And, yes, it was great while it lasted. But apparently, as part of the ongoing effort to eliminate the "Guide" part of "TV Guide" the decision has been made to cripple the functionality.
BRING THEM BACK!

As far as movie listings go, it looks like the Big Movie Guide has gone away just like the movie listings in the print TV Guide. In both cases, now instead of a list of ALL movies on all channels - including cable, they give you a list of five or six movies for the week that THEY want you to see.
The print TV Guide went south with their format change a few months ago (I no longer subscribe to it. It's not TV Guide anymore; it's a clone of "Seventeen") and now tvguide.com is going down the same road.
How about some answers from the powers-that-be at tvguide.com? Why did you drop the big movie guide in favor of a JOKE called "Movies on TV"? -- David Flores: Have you LOOKED at "Movies on TV?" They list five movies: "Todays Picks" Sorry. They're not MY picks. Where are the other 100 or more movies on today? Tomorrow? Next Week? What are we supposed to do? use the cumbersome "grid" in three hour increments?
There is a vacuum in the TV listings world. People want to know what movies are going to be on ALL stations ALL times, not just a few movies. Please bring back the Big Movie Guide.
