June 6, 2007: New Haven
Will (Aaron Stanford) is alive. I think we all knew the well-done corpse left behind in the Drexler was not him. Not only did he survive the blast, he also had time to grab a few rare paintings before he skipped out. I figured the bombing was meant to be a distraction in order to steal artwork. I’m hoping the Feds eventually figure it out. I don’t think the bombing will be considered a terrorist attack once priceless artwork is thrown into the equation, but if I’m not mistaken, the prized artwork was a part of the U.S. president’s personal collection.
Once again Kim (Pascale Hutton) was the heroine of the episode. I knew the pictures were gone once she bumped into that man. The pickpocket scheme was so well executed. It shows that Kim has been followed and watched all along. Whoever set up Jay (Matthew Bomer) and Tyler has thought everything through. Right down to storage boxes in an ex-girlfriend’s basement. How crazy was it that the floor plans to the Drexler, anti-government essays and chemistry notes for bombs were all planted in Jay’s stuff? And whoever planted the faux documents also had time to create boxes full of documents and notes in Tyler’s handwriting as well. That blew me away!
Nel (Bree Turner), the ex, seems sketchy to me. I know she helped Tyler and Jay burn the evidence and escape, but the flashback left me uneasy. I have no idea why a college guy would want to interrupt his make-out session (in the basement library no less — so romantic) to say hi to a friend; but Nel was adamant about keeping Tyler’s attention and not disturbing Will. She said Will always gave her the creeps, but I still don’t trust her. She’s not Kim.
I was happy to see Tyler (Logan Marshall-Green) using his head. The flashbacks are very helpful in this series. And the moments remembered are simple but important. Will hid $10,000, a train schedule (with some sort of code) and a gun in the library basement. I’m sure he meant to go back and claim it, but it may have been too risky. Besides, he has priceless artwork under his belt now. I’m not sure if it will sell right away, because it is so well-known and supposed to be ashes, but if it does sell, it could help Will afford a safe getaway.
As always, I enjoyed Agent Marlow (Viola Davis) in this episode. She isn’t afraid to stand up to her boss (Steven Culp) and she still has faith that Jay and Tyler are innocent. It was also refreshing to see her partner, agent Guillermo Borjes (Anthony Ruivivar), agree with her. I hope her correct “hutch” that our boys went south will shed a more confident light on her.
Ellington’s mysterious murder is another framed-crime to add to Jay and Tyler’s rap sheet. Also, Tyler’s father (William Sadler) knows how to work the media to his advantage. He must have known his son escaped and might be listening to the news, because he milked the media to broadcast his “love” and belief of innocence for his son. I’m sure the Homeland Security guy had something to do with that. And where has The Porter (Billy Mayo) been? He helped our boys a great deal in the first episode, but he’s been MIA since. One thing’s for sure, next week we meet someone who knew (or knows) Will Traveler... let’s hope she’s on Jay and Tyler’s side.

Really enjoyed this episode - and I agree with most of your comments.
Not sure about Nell, though. It struck me in the flashback that she was irritated that her boyfriend was more interested in what his roommate was doing than making out with her. Can't fault her for that!
What I did find a bit weird is that it was so easy to get to the boxes. Most women, especially college-age women, wouldn't leave the basement door unlocked (or did I miss something?)....
Will be interested to see what happens next!

There's got to be more behind this elaborate, 2-year setup than just stealing art, priceless or no. Something an examination of the painting(s) would show that could bring down the president or expose some national secret?
I too think Nell's not on Tyler's side. She seemed too eager to distract him in the library - more interested in keeping him from following Will than simply irritated that he's not paying attention to her.
I watched last week's episodes online Tuesday night, so sorry if I'm commenting on old news in this week's blog. Did anyone else find it creepy that Ellington was whistling a hymn when stalking the boys in the airport? At first I thought it was "Bringing in the Sheaves" which would have been really chilling, but then realized it was "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms." Significant, or is Lost just spilling into my other viewing experiences? I just can't help thinking they had some purpose in choosing a hymn at all, and one about finding comfort in death in particular. It's obscure enough that many viewers wouldn't catch it, but why put it in there? Hopefully the shadowy conspiracy isn't going to be religion-based. Conservative Christians as the new villains? (We've gone through Communism, drug dealers, terrorists, etc., so let's find a new boogyman?) I just don't want to go there.

Yes, I also thought that "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" was an interesting choice of hymn to be humming right before getting ready to execute someone. (We Lost fans are well trained.) Maybe it was just supposed to be ironic.
This week's episode was a good one. The story is moving along at a good pace as we see the unfolding of an incredibly detailed plot. At some point, I'm sure Jay and Tyler will be caught, and hopefully, Agent Marlow will be able to intervene for them. I really like Kim; not as sure about Nell. But then I really like Jay; not as sure about Tyler, so that makes sense (to me at least).
I was concerned that there was next to no publicity about this episode. Even in TV Guide and all of the other places that I looked for Wednesday night good tv picks, I saw no mention of Traveler. My concern is that if ABC isn't promoting the show, will we even get to see the remaining episodes? I really hope so.

I screamed at the TV when that guy bumped into Kim. It was so obvious. She should have taken care to hide them better, but then I suppose the storyline would be skewed. ....I love this show and these 2 guys. It's scary to think this could actually happen if someone wanted to do it.

We have 6 more episodes left - I think that we will get some more clues pretty quickly here. What I'm not really understanding is why is Will pawning of paintings if everyone behind his coverup is so organized. It really doesn't seem like they are working directly together.

I picked up on the whistling last week too. I thought it was somewhat comical considering what his intent was and didn't think of it as an assault on any group.
I thought last night's episode was pretty good. The pickpocket, however, was way too formulaic for my taste. I kept thinking that she should be making extra copies of the photograph before leaving to meet with the FBI. After everything else that's happened, I thought it was pretty obvious that she would need extra copies as backups. If nothing else, the FBI would take the one copy she had (and I guess the negatives) and she would have no proof of the picture's existence. And how can the pickpocket be so sure that there are no other pictures of Will?
I agree with previous posters who thought that Nel was acting curiously during the flashbacks. At least it made me suspicious. I think it will be entertaining to see how widespread this conspiracy is.
As for Will - In the previews for next week (SPOILER ALERT TO THOSE WHO DON'T WATCH THE PREVIEWS FOR NEXT WEEK - but now that I think about it I'm not sure if it was in the previews or at the very end of this weeks episode) when Will meets with the pool playing guy, the pool playing guy says that he can't sell what was supposed to be destroyed in the fire. Will's response is that he doesn't want to sell it - but he does want the guy to tell him what he has. Kind of confirms previous discussion that there's more to the stolen artwork than just the intrinsic value of the artwork.

I'm really enjoying this show.
Kim was printing the pics and the pickpocket was hovering behind her ... I knew they were gone as soon as I saw him watching her.
I can't decide on whether or not to trust Nell, yeah she did seem a tad odd, but I can kinda see the creepy vibe too.
Looking forward to the story unfolding. I am really enjoying the pace, but we've only got 5 eps left.

Loving this for a summer series. Still waiting for the watch to come into play. Seems a little fishy that someone would accept it as a bribe then return. Does it have a transmitter in it or something? Or contains more damaging evidence to the boys? Who knows lets hope ratings stay high so we can find out!

I agree Nel is way to suspcious for me. There is something about her that just didnt do it for me. However I dont blame her for not wanting to stop making out with her boyfriend to surprise a friend.
Anyway I also agree with Nunovyer Bidness that there has to be more to this than a priceless paintings. Espcially since Homeland Secruity is invloved....well if it is Homeland Secruity.
Loving Agent Marlow. Her hutchess are always right. Good for her.
I thought it was real stupid for Jay and Tyler to leave the evidence behind of the hair dye behind. The feds would of known that they changed their looks. Well only Tyler not Jay.
And gotta agree with you about the Porter. Where is he, and how was he involved?

They never used the hair dye - they pretended they did in order to throw the FBI off the track - thinking they were looking for red heads

lizzybelle - they left the hair dye there to throw off the feds. They wanted them to think they had changed their appearance when they hadn't. I think the FBI would have been expecting it even without the 'evidence,' but who knows.
Nell had my suspicions up too, glad I'm not alone, thou it could just be that she was irked that he cared more about Will than her.
Why did the head FBI guy not believe Kim? I can understand him just thinking the boys are guilty, but he acted like he had never even heard of pickpocketing before. I just keep wanting to slap this guy! (I too thought the pickpocketing was a bit formulatic - and obvious from the moment we saw the dude - but it did point out that Kim was being watched)
The ending has me very curious - karrosfan - what you talked about was at the very end, not in the previews. Maybe Will is wondering if he'll get the shaft (literally and figurativly) so he's stepping up to find out what's really going on. In a situation like this I would be looking over my shoulder constantly for the gunman who was sent to kill me. ('cuz I don't think they would want him alive - maybe he faked his death for them as well as the boys) This could be a very interesting setup where Will has to connect with Jay and Tyler again to help himself stay alive. (just speculating - not spoiling) Someone posted here, or on the Celeb blog that David does about spending two years with people and not forming some attachment. So maybe Will will have to see if he can reconnect.
Definitely cannot wait for more. My curiousity is getting peaked on what's going on.

Is it just me or is Tom Hardy who played Dudley in Virgin Queen a clone of Logan's? I kept wondering where I had seen Logan before and then I thought, THAT'S IT! The Virgin Queen...but then it wasn't in his bio..FINALLY, I figured it out and now I know why I mistook him for Tom Hardy. Little did I know that Logan was on The OC for crying out loud!

I'm loving this show. Don't have much more to add that has not been said. I noticed the pickpocket guy watching Kim. And I also think Nel is not to be trusted.
