June 13, 2007: The Out

I don’t know where to begin. Let’s start with our favorite backstabbing friend, Will Traveler (Aaron Stanford). Or is it Daniel Taft? Either way, we now know that “Traveler” (that will be his alias in this blog until further notice) was supposed to let the bomb go off while Jay and Tyler were still in the building, but his conscience got the best of him and he coaxed the roller-skating stunt to save them. And that was just the preview for next week!

Backtracking to the beginning, the Porter (Billy Mayo) returned and he is not a nice guy. Sure, he’s saved Jay and Tyler’s lives a few times, but he also shot a guy at point-blank rage with no hesitation. That freaked me out a little. I’m still on the fence about him. I know he wants Traveler — whom he shot in the leg — but he's also keeping an eye on Jay and Tyler. Does he care if they live or die? He didn’t try to save them from the explosion on the boat, but then again, the guy who set the bomb was still waiting to make sure it exploded, so maybe the Porter felt helpless.

Kim was thrown in jail because she roughed up a photographer. I didn’t know they actually threw twentysomething women in the slammer for defending their privacy. Maybe she should have run him over with a car instead, that always seems to work for the young Hollywood starlets.

We met Maya (Sonja Bennett), Traveler’s girlfriend. She owns a bookstore and works for the same people Traveler did. She offered a little information about Traveler, stating that he genuinely liked Jay and Tyler and frequently talked about them. She also mentioned that the boat was Traveler's and it was for the two of them to escape. It seems that Traveler thought he was working for the government and doing a good thing for his country by blowing up the Drexler. I have no idea what the key will be used for; it looked antique. I don’t think it’s a door key; perhaps it will open some type of box or trunk.

There are a lot of people after Traveler... the people who hired him, the people against the people who hired him, Jay and Tyler, and anyone who thinks Jay and Tyler are innocent. It almost makes you feel bad for the guy. Almost.

There were a few other story lines that were touched on here and there. Marlow’s last discretion was mentioned. We met Jay’s mother, whom he is not on good terms with. Maya was captured by someone. And Traveler is a lot better-looking with a haircut!

This show is developing nicely. But it's up against the only other show ("Rescue Me") that is watchable this summer. Isn't that always the way? One suggestion: If these boys are on the lam, they need to disguise themselves a bit. Tyler's strawberry curls need to go. He looked much better as a brunette on "The O. C."; maybe he should dye his hair?

I am enjoying the show a lot. After reading the blog by its creator (here in TV Guide under Celebrity Writers), I realized that they had to cram 13 episodes of material into 8 episodes, which accounts for the fast-paced nature of the story telling. That provides a lot of action even though it barely gives the viewer time to digest what he has just seen. I guess we can enjoy doing our "digesting" afterwards. No mention of the painting yet, but I'm sure it will become inportant. Steven Culp's character says he is feeling paternal towards Kim. Really?

afhickman: I couldn't agree with you more about disguising themselves, shave your heads or something.

Ok, they heard the train coming, and then proceed to scream at Will just as it's about to pass? This guy betrayed you and the country (maybe), did you expect him to say, "Oh, hey guys... what's up? Glad you got out. So whaddya wanna do now, still wanna do that whole road-trip thing? Cool."

But oddly enough he ran when he saw our fugtives... weird. And then the train blocked the view of the porter's attempt to get Will, and the subsequent white van kidnapping... man I've never seen anything like that before... most original scene eve... ah who am I kidding?

Super episode - and I love the fast pace. I'm a big proponent of fewer episodes - more action.......

Glad Kim is going home. She and her dad may not get along, but he will help protect her.....

Can't wait to see what happens next!

I really like this show. I agree with the first poster - why does it have to be up against the only other summer show that means anything? Hooray for Tivo!! Maybe ABC can really get behind quality (but riskier, more far-fetched) shows airing for 3 months in the summer. We don't have anything else to watch.

BTW-each episode my crush on Tyler gets a little bigger. Too cute!

Not cool Casey talking about the preview like that. Some people don't watch the previews, so they can be a little surprised when next week's ep happens. Now I am very annoyed. Just not cool at all Casey.

It looks like a lot of people are after Traveler. Not sure how many sets of people there are now. But I guess some of them are warring with each other.

Sometimes I do have to wonder about the FBI. The tape of Tyler ranting had so many cuts in it. It seems like if someone want to make a manifesto, they would just film it with no cuts at all. Just ramble about what you want to say. This was a mess. I'm glad some of the people at the FBI questioned the tape.

I do like the show. It is fast paced. Now I have to decide if it is safe to come back to this blog every week if revelations from next week's show are going to be revealed.

I just love how the show is a non-stop ride. The story continues to move along without missing a beat.

Speedy...Get over it; it's not that big a deal. If you consider that a big reveal, then you're taking this show way too seriously...

speedy1383 - I happen to think I'm very cool, but I do apologize if I spolied anything for you.

So, who else refuses to watch previews after their favorite shows? I'm curious and baffled. Do you change the channel, mute the program or just turn the TV off?

I watch the previews, sometimes they are disapointing since the can give away too much, but oh well.
I am really liking the show, so far it's different then everything else on tv.
I like Marlow but someone has to smack her boss, having a press release on nothing that has been proved.
And I agree with Speedy 1383 about the tape, it was an obvious mess that in reality said nothing at all. But next week looks really good.
Question though, not sure if it's the canadian channels or not, but did anyone notice how frequently there was commercials last night??

I hate previews! LOST always gives the whole damn show away. Same with 24.

If these boys are on the lam, they need to disguise themselves a bit.

Seriously. It's almost distracting how they're not disguising themselves. You think they would have at least picked up a pair of sunglasses by now. Otherwise, I'm really enjoying this show. I hope it does well in the ratings.

I love Steven Culp, but I'm hoping his character gets some comeuppance before it's over. Just now I started to wonder if he isn't in on the conspiracy against Jay and Tyler. On the other hand, they were supposed to die so maybe the conspirators didn't plan for that contingency... One thing is for sure, more will be revealed.

I like watching previews. My theory is that if it's shown on television, then it's fair game to discuss. If a spoiler comes from another source, then I get annoyed.

I'm really enjoying this show and find that I constantly surprised by the "hotel porter." He just shows up and can kill people with no hesitation.

I love Marlow's character. She seems to be the only sane person in the FBI. At times I want to strangle her partner - he's got too much blind loyalty to the job and doesn't question anything no matter how absurd it may be. It was a low blow to bring up Marlow's past mistake.

I'm with a lot of other posters regarding how Tyler and Fog can just run around with a disguise other than a hat. But since it worked for Michael Scofield on "Prison Break," I'll just have suspend a little disbelief on that inconsistency.

I don't watch previews for shows like the ones mentioned-Lost, 24 and this show. Too much revealed. The first paragraph talking about the previews?! Wow. Usually when people talk about the previews, they leave it for the final paragraph or at least give some fair warning. Oh well. One less blog to read.
