Hopes for next season...

I've heard a few rumors about next season, none of which I am too please about - but regardless of whether or not they are true, here is what I would hope to see next season:

1) Some other rival "agency" come on the scene and compete with Torchwood for possible replacements for Tosh and Owen.

2) More info revealed about the disbanded Time Agency, perhaps even a story where Captain Jack gets lost in time and Captain John has to lead the Torchwood team to find him using tech he stole from the agency. Also, as a result, we'd get to see more interaction between James Marsters and GDL.

3) Hope to see Bilis Manger return. One of the best villains - ever! I saw on another message board where someone hypothesized that Manger might be (not necessarily known to him) an agent of the Black Guardian and that Captain Jack might be (again, not known to him) an agent of the White Guardian.

4) More info on Ianto. He is almost as mysterious as Jack himself. Loved in season two when he says that "no one knows more" about the hub than he does (despite being there less than 2 years) - implying even Jack doesn't know some things (despite working for Torchwood for over a century). That's quite a statement to make.

Anyone else want to add some things they would like to see?

moreeyecandy - love your moniker! :^O Sorry I didn't reply sooner - computer problems! Boy, was last Saturday boring Hope they come out with the Season II DVDs soon.

I really like your idea of an adversarial agency - maybe Unit? There needs to be some kind of conflict in the show, but I really hope they don't try to come up with some season-long boogeyman (e.g. the Wraith on Stargate Atlantis). The good guys have to win, or the show is over. After a while, it just gets boring. I liked the way they've had a wide variety of adversaries, and even beings in need of rescue. Until the last few episodes, Owen provided much of the internal conflict, but now he's gone. An adversarial agency would provide just the right opportunities for conflict, while leaving the team free to deal with the rift.

Much as I will miss Tosh (and even Owen at times), I'm just glad they left Ianto alone. I was convinced they were going to kill him off, since Jack has clearly started getting really attached to him. Never been so glad to be wrong!! I guess that since sexual tension between the two was never part of the show's plot, they felt it would be OK. I mean, pulling Rhys into things & letting him and Gwen get married didn't hurt the show; why can't Jack & Ianto have each other? I'm speaking TV-show logic here, not human logic. ;)

One more comment - I, too, would like to see James Marsters return periodically. I love your idea of him rescuing Jack! But I think the people clamoring for him to be there full-time are wrong. Either he would destroy the place, or he would stop being the Captain John that we all get such a kick out of.

Gods, it's going to be a long time until January! I'm not even thinking about the show not returning - it's too depressing.
