November 16, 2006: Four Straight Wins
I love, love, love this show! It has excitement; it has conflict; it has betrayal; it has underdogs; it even has new verbs. Where else would you hear about octopussing? And Rebecca, if you chose only to speak one word during this week's show, I'm glad it was that one. Let's see, it is day 22, and over the course of the next three days Aitu pulled out another two challenge wins — making it a four-challenge sweep since the infamous mutiny. I'm so pleased for this underdog team, and who says that dog can't hold a grudge? They sent Candice to do yet another stint on Exile Island. And to display the workings of their well-oiled machine, Aitu members all chimed in together to call her name. Aww.
For whatever reason, Jonathan is bearing none of the brunt of the mutiny from his former 'mates. If he makes it to the merge, we'll see if all is forgiven. But Raro is going to have to start winning some immunity challenges. I mean, they have double the numbers, you'd think that would count for something. In Raro's case, double the numbers turned into a double elimination that sent both Rebecca and the pissed-off Jenny to seats two and three of the jury box. Things have become a little black and white on this tribe. The lesson for the week — surprises in bottles aren't always a good thing.
Given that Jenny suffered the most from the second vote, I'm wondering if Raro felt, as I did, that she was trying to throw the compass challenge by not digging. Not that it mattered. Adam and Candice spent enough time arguing over east by southeast to make Raro's loss a total team effort.
Aitu's reward was a very cool feast with the locals, who gave them a warrior's welcome and got Yul to engage in a little freak dancing. That's another thing I love about Survivor — it always makes an effort to show the native culture of the host islands. After this win, the "four orphans" were now well fed, relaxed and ready for yet another victory, because honestly any loss on their side would be a devastating blow. There are nine players left in the game, no sign of a merge, and Probst only knows how many more surprises are yet to come. This season has been many things — controversial, uneven, humorous and at times dull, but it has kept my attention. For the love of Survivor, that's why I keep watching.

Totally agree. This show remains fresh and exciting, season after season. When is the merge coming? Is Nate going to try and join up with Aitu now that he realizes he is the only person of color on Raro? How could noone notice that? I am a white male, but am totally hoping either a Latino man or Asian person wins this Survivor! Race, schmace.

This was one of my favorite episodes. It cracked me up at times. Yul dancing was very funny. He just looked so uncomfortable doing it. That was priceless. I love this underdog team. I don't remember a season where I've been openly cheering for one team. But the last 2 weeks, I have been rooting hard for Aitu. These challenges haven't even been all that close. They are like the '27 Yankees right now. Just steamrolling.
Poor Rebecca. She doesn't even get to say her peace at the end of the ep. Jenny cracked me up. Flicking off her tribe was classic. I had to rewind it a couple of times just to make sure I saw that right. Yes, there definitely was a blur where her middle finger was as she stormed off. Very funny.
I knew the bottle was not going to be a good thing. I actually thought it was going to be where the person with the second most votes would be voted off instead of the person with the most votes. I liked how they did it instead. Nate has no idea what is going within his own tribe. It seems he has voted another person off a few times instead of the the actual person who does get voted off. He is just not in the loop so to speak.
I wonder if Ozzy is part fish. The guy is a great swimmer. He will definitely be tough to beat in individual immunity if they ever go to that. Go Aitu!

if i were candace and jonathan i would be kicking myself for going the other side. if they stayed with their teams they would be wining alot. well maybe not.well we know that candace isnt kicking herself cause she spending all of her time with adam. anyway i didnt see jenny flipping her team members off. but did you see the look on adams face when jenny told him to dig with both hands?? it was way to funny. anyway i knew rebecca was going to get voted off even before the immunity. she went under the rador without saying a word. i think tonights episode is the first time i ever heard her saying a word.
why do they keep sending candace to exile island? week after week candace goes to the island. its either her or jonathan.

I think sending Candance to exile is great strategy.....it punishes her since her whole betrayal was to be with Adam. And there is no point to sending Jonathan since Aitu is smart enough to know that his staying with the Raro tribe is of no benefit to Jonathan, who is showing his desperation, not to mention his regret on switching tribes. I am amazed how much I am rooting for Aitu to keep winning challenges. Hope either Yul or Ozzy wins the money but, if not, they both have impressed everyone so much that surely they will benefit somehow when they return to the 'real world'.

Loved this episode! Even though the double elimination was mentioned in something I had seen earlier in the week, I had forgotten about it so I didn't see it coming.
I love it when they do a double elimination on this show where they don't see it coming and everybody has to instantly think for themselves. I really thought it might be a closer vote between Jenny and Jonathon.
I think the strategy with both teams has been to send the same 3 people (Yul, Candance and Jonathon) to Exile Island so they've got it narrowed down as to who might have the idol. I think the reason Aitu has sent Candance instead of Jonathon is because they figure Jonathon might alienate himself from Raro if he spends a lot ot time with them where Candance might get closer to Raro if she's the one to be with Raro.
With a possible 10 people on the jury, I think we may see more twists coming like having 4 people in the finals so there would be no ties. It will be interesting to see how this season progresses.

Wow, I can't believe how much I DIDN'T feel sorry for Candice when she started crying on Exile.
Can't wait to see Yul come up with a plan to win the game with the underdog team and the immunity idol. Hopefully they'll crush Team Whitey. Nate, I hate to say this, but you're partially to blame for the imbalance over on Raro, given that you kept voting out your best allies.

Maybe I'm out of step with everyone else, but I like Candice & Jonathan. I did feel sorry for her when she was sent to Exile Island again. If she & Adam to end up together, like Rob & Amber, it'll be worth it. Somehow, though, I don't forsee an aisle march for the two of them.
I thought Yul dancing with the native woman was hilarious! I like him & hope that he or Ozzy is the winner.
If I were Nate, I'd pack my things. I think the four former tribemates will be sticking together and he's now the odd man out.

I thought Aitu should send Nate to Exile this week since he would be competing in the immunity challenge. Try to break him down a little by sending him away. Then I thought, maybe by sending Candice, they are thinking that there's one less person on the jury to be angry about being sent to exile. So far, very few have gone so when its time for the jury to vote, that's something they might consider.

OK, kind of wish I hadn't read the thing about Ozzy, especially his quotes from the other "show"....
Yul has been my #1 pick from the beginning and I'm still hoping he wins it all.
Raro is playing a really bad game right now and is showing no signs of coming out of it. How naive can Nate be? Go Aitu!

Well, it seemed like we were getting away from "the race thing" but this week's eliminations brought it all back to the forefront. My educational background is in Psychology, so I find it fascinating to compare the action on the island to things that happen in "the real world" everyday.
The "white team" is the only team so far that appears to have stuck together regardless of circumstance. It is riduculous that, after jumping sides, neither Jonathan nor Candace had to pay any price for it. AND, if a merge ever comes, they have strong numbers to go in and have a fighting chance. Nate better hope there is a merge next week or that Jonathan does something completely stupid (but he's been saying stupid things for weeks and no one seems to care). I absolutely adore Nate and really want to see him make it to the end. Unfortunately, he's now the odd man out of 2 groups of 4...
By the way, has anyone noticed Parvati's lack of air time? This might be a sign that she's going to make it to the end...

Hi everyone!
As I see it Parvati is Nate's only hope. She's the only original Raro member who I don't see as being all that committed to the four. But still it may be too late to save Nate. Unless something drastic happens there'll be no breaking up the Aitu Four.
And I didn't want to seem heartless but Candice's crocodile tears did not move me at all!

I think most of us realize the year is 2006 and this is the game of Survivor in which the four "whites" are trying to win $1 million just like Yul, Ozzy, Sundra, Becky, and Nate. Adam, Candice, and Parvati are tight from the original tribe and for now they are letting Jonathan tag along so they can use his vote to their advantage. I'm not at all convinced Nate is the odd man out.

This episode was the best of the season. How can Nate not see what is going on behind his back? He has been busting his ass in the comps but he never thought to allign the tribe against the mutineers? How interesting is it that the two white players leave Aitu to move over, strengthen the white power base in Raro and get rid of all other factions in that tribe even though the person that most derserved to be kicked out was scheming Jonathan. Poor Nate. He should get to switch tribes. I think "nancy boy" Brad is going to have the last laugh at Nate.
I hope that Aitu can continue to dominate. They deserved the celebration they received. If you watch this show you can't help but love these guys. You have four members from three tribes that have come together to form a seemingly unstoppable force. Jonathan leaving actually helped cement Ozzy's position which I don't think Jonathan wanted to do. They are the perfect foursome -- they all lend different talents to each competition and they ALL perform cohesively.
I think this is one of Survivor's better seasons because it is still so up in the air as to who will win. GO AITU!
