What did you all think about Kripke's little twist on the Bela character?
I thought it was brilliant!
As the show went on it crossed my mind that maybe she was a demon but no, it was better than that.

I loved that ending. I never cared too much for the character b/c I just didn't see her purpose but seeing how it all played out last night made it worth it. I loved that twist but I'm still glad to see her gone whether this was the writer's intentional plan for her character or not. Either way, they did a great job at ending it.

I know I'm in the minority, but I really liked Bela and I was very sad to see her go. Lauren Cohan is such a good actress, it's too bad she won't be around. I've never quite gotten why people disliked her so strongly...
Having said that, I have to say her storyline twist took me completely by surprise- I sure as heck didn't see that one coming. That final scene in Sam and Dean's motel room was picture perfect. The phone conversation was great, although it surprised me to see how cold Dean was to Bela knowing that he's going to be facing the exact same thing in just a few weeks.
The shot of the clock flipping to 12:00 and then hearing the hounds barking to end the episode was just chilling. They couldn't have ended it better.

I'm satisfied with how the writers wrapped up the Bela story. (But i still wish they showed the hellhound crash through the window to attack her then cut to black then hear her scream)
Um...uh...now i'm thinking Kripke has corrupted my thought processes.
Anyway, I liked Bela in BDABR, but after that ep the writing and characterization of others suffered whenever she was placed in an episode. IMO the writers didn't know what they were doing with this character or better stated, what direction they wanted to take this character after her first appearance. This may be why Bela wasn't accepted very well, it was too obvious that she wasn't planned for but shoehorned into episodes. Last night was the first time I didn't feel Bela was forced into an episode since BDABR and that her presence didn't negatively affect Dean's characterization.
Lauren did do a wonderful job with the character, but Bela had to go...sad but true...recurring characters don't stay alive long on Supernatural.

I thought she made a good foil for the guys, but I understand why the writers got rid of her. Budget issues aside, the fans who hated her were a lot more vocal than the ones who liked her. The same is true for Ruby, but I think Kripke has a set role in mind for Ruby in the show mythology. Other than being an enemy for the brothers, I don't think the writers really fleshed out a purpose for Bela.
I feel bad for Lauren. However, they don't call it Supernatural for nothing, so she may be back in the future for an episode.
And after Thursday's episode, I felt bad for Bela. Poor little girl. Guess the supernatural world doesn't have laws against children signing contracts.

I was Bela Booster from the beginning. Then, there was that moment, as brief as it was, were I flipped sides. But, I proudly wear my B.B. button again.
I do have to admit that I was a little disappointed with Bela’s back-story. We have seen others sell their souls: some for money, some for fame, and those to save a loved one. But, the abuse aspect seemed that it was forced upon us to make everything come together. And, Dean noticing Bela’s hell hound deterrent. What was the purpose (beside foreshadowing) of her hanging it if it wasn’t her time?
I have to applaud the closing scenes. I had a big grin on my face. All I could think of was the role reversal that had occurred. Sam and Dean in the car driving away, calling Bela, and setting her up to take a fall. I had me thinking about the opening scenes of Jus In Bello.
Bela (and Lauren) will be missed in my opinion. Not only was she an interesting character (and talented actress), but she gave us male viewers someone to look at.

I don't like anyone screwing around with the Winchesters, so Bela had to go.
I guessed back sometime ago when they asked her who did she kill when the clipper ship kept showing up it was her daddy. I figured early on if she killed her parents, they must have done something horrible to her (too much CSI: Miami). I was somewhat right.
It looked like her father may have been molesting or raping her, so she killed him and her mother (probably because she did not stop it or tried to dismiss it).
I don't think she killed them just for the money, that probably was an added bonus.
I felt kind of sorry for her, but there is no comparing her and Dean. Dean sacrificed his life for love of his brother not for hate of someone.
I love this show because every week evil gets a kick in the ass. Unlike real life.

I thought the twist was brilliant! I never liked her too much, but now I'm sorta sad to see her go. It's like Dean said--if she just would have gone to them in the beginning for help, they both might have been saved.
Oh, and that ending! Wow!

You're right, Dragonfly, that ending was up there with the best they've done on this show, and that's saying something. I put it right behind the ending to Nightshifter.

Met, Dragonfly: I agree! Nightshifter was my favorite ending of all TV history, it still gives me chills when I watch it! haha. The ending with Bela and the barking.....I have to admitt, is a close second, that gave me chills too! Nightshifter still wins it for me though!
