It's the flights of fancy that keep me with this soap no matter how badly I want to scream over drawn out storylines

Ok, I'm just about finished watching Passions, and it was a cool episode all around. I'm not a musical kind of guy, but I actually like it. Good episode, good. And on a off topic note, What an amazing poll question.

The scoreboard for musical episodes on the soaps this year is One Life To Live 0, Passions 1.
Seriously, today's Wickedly funny episode of Passions was everything OLTL's take on High School Musical should've been. It was witty, entertaining, had great original music and, most importantly, it made sense within a storyline context.
Now I know it's a little easier for a far-out soap like Passions to put out an episode with song and dance included, but there's still no denying how disappointing OLTL's recent Broadway parody was. The cast--especially Kristen Alderson (Starr) and the young man who plays Cole--tried their hearts out, but they couldn't rise above the hokiness of the episode's scenes and music. What was intended to be must see daytime TV looked more like it was written with five-year-olds in mind. I felt like I was watching a rerun of Saved By the Bell.

Well, despite the Passions being in a rut the last few years, the few shining lights have been Tabby, Endora, and their musicals.
First the Emmy winning "I Ain't Sorry," then the Emmy winning Bollywood number "Love is Ecstasy" and now the surely Emmy winning "Wicked" numbers.
Passions has had great musical direction (add the JRE tribute "Forever Near" to their Emmy list of winning songs.)

I happened to be home of Friday and turned on Passions. WOW!!! This episode even without the musical elements was good. Tabitha and Endora are one of the best reasons to watch Passions and to find out some of the backstory of why Tabitha was evil was a treat.
Hopefully, the move to Direct TV will help finish some of these storylines. Because Passions is so wacky it does lend itself to becoming a musical more than OLTV. Who turns into a soap to watch High School Musical anyway?? Save that for Disney.

Daniel,
Is Nicole Cox (Endora) leaving the show? The Friday, June 29th episode came across like a goodbye to Endora.

Passions "spoofs" Wicked?
While I agree it was very well done, it was really more of a rip-off of Wicked than a spoof. The songs almost matched songs that appear in Wicked--which I also enjoyed very much after seeing it.

Shameless plug alert, suds fans!
As long as you're doing your last-minute holiday shopping anyway, I just thought I'd remind ya that my book, The Q Guide to Soap Operas, makes a great soapy stocking stuffer.
FYI: You can now order autographed copies from our own TV Guide Store.
They're offering this due to all the e-mails I've gotten from folks who really, really want signed copies of the book, even if they can't get to one of my book-signing events.
By the way, I'm not the type of author who just carelessly scrawls an illegible autograph inside a book jacket. Not only do I give good cursive handwriting, I do pretty doodles! (I'm a bit of a frustrated visual artist.)
Get your autographed copies of The Q Guide to Soap Operas right here!
