Check Out Friday's Soaps Previews
Finola Hughes courtesy ABC
Just a friendly reminder that our Soaps Previews go up fresh on Fridays, offering you a sneak peek at next week's suds stories.
Just click here for all the ABC, CBS and NBC teasers for the week of July 9-13. I've sprinkled in a few extra juicy scooplets this time!
Oh, and be sure to vote in our Soaps Poll to let me know how you feel about Viki and David on One Life to Live. Personally, I voted yes all the way.
FYI, I'm off enjoying a long weekend but there'll be more Soaps News served up on Monday, I promise. Hope you're having yourself a warm and wonderful summer.

Any scoop on who will play Paul's daughter, Heather, on Y&R and what her storyline will be? Any chance we will see Mary return as the meddling mother of all times or perhaps April will follow Heather to GC? Or, to be really out there, Andrea Evans return as Paul's sister, Patti. And, did I mention that I think you are very cute and have my dream job of a young gay guy growing up watching soaps?

Viki and David ...?! That's Dena's mess. That bedroom scene was a joke -- way over the top and way out of character for Viki. (David is always funny)
I can't wait to see upcoming episodes with her name off the credits!

Hey tx_scott,
Any scoop on who will play Paul's daughter, Heather, on Y&R and what her storyline will be?
Please go back and check the Y&R preview teasers under CBS. Your questions about Heather are answered there.
And, did I mention that I think you are very cute and have my dream job of a young gay guy growing up watching soaps?
Aw, thanks!
Have a good weekend everyone.

Tuc Watkins is talented AND gorgeous. I happen to love David with Viki. Erika Slezak hasn't been this much fun to watch in years. I say let's make her Viki Vickers!

Hey Daniel!
Could you provide anymore scoop on Night Shift?
Will we get a video preview for the show?
I would really appreciate it. Also, do you know if the cast of NS is doing a promotional junction this weekend?
Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks.

Before anyone begins going through serious spoiler withdrawal, just thought I would mention that Canadian TV Guide gives you day-by-day detail. You have to go one day at a time, but, sometimes, the detail even goes a couple of days into next week.
Go to
http://entertainment1.sympatico.msn.ca/TV_Guide/TVListings/
Choose Monday about 1 p.m. and you will get shows like One Life to Live. Click on the preferred show and the detail pops up. Choose the SCROLL NEXT option in the upper right hand corner and it moves the board forward to General Hospital, Young and Restless, etc.
CBS Daytime Sneak Peeks are usually posted by the network by Friday afternoon. You can begin here:
http://www.cbs.com/daytime/yr/updates/sneaks/
The NBC Daytime Sneak Peeks are usually posted by the network by Friday afternoon. You can begin here:
http://www.nbc.com/Days_of_our_Lives/news/
ABC sends out a newsletter called ABC Hot Sheets - usually by Friday afternoon - which gives sneak peeks for next week. You have to go to ABC Daytime to sign up to receive the newsletter.
newsletters@abc.go.com
THE NEW YORK TIMES also has a fairly comprehensive day-by-day guide to the various shows.
GO TO http://tvlistings.nytimes.com/nyt/zipcode.asp?partner_id=nyt
Enter your ZIP CODE, then click on CONTINUE. The NEXT window that comes up asks you to choose your SERVICE PROVIDER. Find your service provider, then click on GO TO LISTINGS.
In the next window, choose the preferred date (such as Monday) and the hour when soaps begin in your area. Leave ALL CATEGORIES and ALL STATIONS as you find them - then click on GO.
This takes you to {in our example} Monday. Click on whatever show you want to know more detail about. Usually, NYT does NOT update until Saturday or Sunday. Sometimes, they don't even update until Monday.
Hope this helps ~~ However, I will be happy when the TV Guide previews are back in operation!
Missing Daniel already! MAYBE whomever will be inheriting this job can use some of those resources to put together the previews which TV Guide posts!
Sincerely, Estrelita

I miss Daniel, too! He was funny and fair and he made me laugh. I'm sure there are people out there ready and willing to try to "fill his loafers" as another poster put it, but my personal feeling is that TV Guide really doesn't care. The magazine as a whole has really gone downhill, very tabloid-y, trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Sorry . . . this rant belongs in another place Bottom line is . . . TV Guide doesn't really care about soap viewers. -- Jenny D

Actually, I have NOT bought an officially published copy of TV Guide for years and years now - and the primary reason for that was a snide article TV Guide published years ago about how dumb soap operas were - and intimated that the only people who watched soaps were silly women with nothing better to do who could NOT tell the difference between reality and fiction! That was in the days before soaps were even CONSIDERED for Emmy awards - so you know how many years that has been. Checking in occassionally on TV Guide's web page has been about the only contact I have had with the magazine for all of those years - and I only started doing that recently!
As far as using the published TV Guide for finding WHEN which shows will be airing - forget about it! My local newspaper always published a more accurate weekly guide in the Sunday newspaper! Then, when I got Direct TV, Direct TV sends out a monthly schedule which is, likewise, more accurate than the one you can buy over the counter from TV Guide. Spiffy channels like TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES send out newsletters with their entire schedule for the entire NEXT MONTH! Then, whenever there is a schedule change, TCM sends out a newsletter announcing the schedule change A WEEK OR MORE BEFORE the change is to take place. What a class act! I can use my DTV on-screen guide to search for movies, TV Shows, etc., by title, by favorite persons or by keyword. My DTV on-screen guide gives me day-by-day detail that is similar to the day-by-detail you get from the New York Times. So, for the most part, I have NOT missed having a published copy of TV Guide around to litter up the house!
The soap recaps, previews and news were about the only part of TV Guide on-line that I EVER visited! I tried to look up some favorite performers on TV Guide's supposed 'search' and found TV Guide's 'search' totally and completely useless! Besides my DTV on-screen guide - it is easier to do something like that with the New York Times search option!
My understanding is that TV Guide keeps wondering what has happened to all of their loyal subscribers. I could tell them exactly WHERE they have gone in 10 minutes or so - but, my guess is that, just like TIIC at the networks, TV Guide does NOT really WANT to know!
Sincerely, Estrelita

Shameless plug alert, suds fans!
As long as you're doing your last-minute holiday shopping anyway, I just thought I'd remind ya that my book, The Q Guide to Soap Operas, makes a great soapy stocking stuffer.
FYI: You can now order autographed copies from our own TV Guide Store.
They're offering this due to all the e-mails I've gotten from folks who really, really want signed copies of the book, even if they can't get to one of my book-signing events.
By the way, I'm not the type of author who just carelessly scrawls an illegible autograph inside a book jacket. Not only do I give good cursive handwriting, I do pretty doodles! (I'm a bit of a frustrated visual artist.)
Get your autographed copies of The Q Guide to Soap Operas right here!
Happy Holidays and Lotsa Love,
