February 19, 2007: Bad Blood

Happy President's Day, all. What better way to end my relaxing three-day weekend than shouting and cursing at the television in excitement/sheer frustration over and over again while watching Prison Break? I’m hoping you all had the same reactions; let me elaborate, and then you can do the same.

My favorite moment of tonight’s episode is actually a three-way tie between the three times I shouted for joy. In fact, I even squealed after the first: when Michael ran over Kim. I could have been satisfied with just that, but then came the part where Lincoln totally beat the crap out of Kim. And then an even more magical moment after that: Sara locking the car door just as Kellerman tried to open it. When you’ve become invested in a show and you’re really rooting for the main characters, it’s always fun watching them succeed. But I think this was just above and beyond anything we’ve seen so far on PB. Obviously the biggest satisfaction will come when the boys get their names cleared, but we’re not ready for that yet, since it will mean the show is over!

I think what made it so wonderful was the fact that our three heroes, Michael, Lincoln and Sara, each got their own chance at a small percentage of revenge, and they all came one right after the next. Too bad they only got a few seconds, but they definitely made the best use of that time. These three make an awesome team, and I can’t wait to see what they’ve got planned next. Oh right, another reason to love that scene might have been seeing Kim’s bleeding face.

Something else I loved about this episode – the return of former Warden Henry Pope (played by Stacy Keach, who will also show up on this week's ER). As soon as he saw Michael and gave him that half-“I want to kill you,” half-“but I’m glad you’re OK” look, I knew he’d be the one to genuinely help. Pope was not just a savior for getting that all-mighty memory stick, but he let Michael back out of his word to turn himself in. It’s nice seeing a good guy on this show once in a while.

The scenes with C-Note were those moments of sheer frustration I mentioned earlier. Are we really supposed to believe Mahone just let him jump on the train and get away because his daughter wouldn’t let go? Why didn’t Mahone jump on the train after him? And I about lost it when C-Note almost let that “doctor” at the free clinic — who was smoking a cigarette inside — stick a catheter into Dede’s neck. I was actually happy he turned himself in so he could save his poor daughter, but, he better have been lying when he told Mahone he’d get him Scofield. I don’t need another reason to root against C-Note.

As for T-Bag, correct me if I’m wrong, but this was the first time we found out his dad used to touch him in bad places, right? It obviously doesn’t justify the number of rapes and murders he proceeded to commit, but it pretty much pinpoints the downward spiral of young Theodore’s life. And the fact that he had to memorize the thesaurus so he could be president one day probably didn’t help with his sanity. I’m glad he finally let Susan and her kids go, after that heart-breaking speech in which he declared, “No more Bagwells shall roam this planet, not with that vile blood in their veins,” and that he’d “be baptized under a truer light.” All he wanted was for Susan to love him back, even if it was just a little.

Other leftover thoughts: there’s not much to say about Sucre, but that was a very sweet and quick reunion with Maricruz. I thought it was kind of funny when Kellerman tried bonding with Linc and told him he hadn’t spoken with his sister in 15 years. And then he tells him, "There is no light at the end of this tunnel. One way or another, you and I die. Your brother, too.” That Kellerman sure knows how to be a pal. And, of course, Sara trying to ease the tension by telling Michael he still owes her dinner was very sweet, too. Now, onto the file on that memory stick.…

For once Mr Kim didn't have that smirk on his face. It was more of a grimace of pain. The satisfaction of watching Michael hit him with the SUV was a wonderful scene. When he grabbed ahold of the windshield wiper I actually yelled slam on the brakes. I personally would have drove over the top of him just to finish the job, but it was great watching Linc beat the crap out of him. Sara locking the door so Kellerman couldn't get in was a laugh out loud moment for me. The smile on her face as they drove away was great. Its the little victories that win the war. I am so glad that Pope let Michael out of their deal. It is also great to know that they now have someone else who believes them.
I feel a little sorry for T-Bag. I figured there was some kind of abuse in his history. It does kind of explain the way he is. My only problem with his and Susan's conversation was that Susan could not even tell him what he wanted to hear to even save her own question. As a mother I would do what ever was necessary to protect my kids. I'm glad he finally let them go. It was really nice to see him do the right thing. His crying at the end broke my heart. I got a little lump in my throat.
C-Note I'm glad that part of the story with his daughter is done for now. They just dragged it out to long for my liking. Hopefully he doesn't really turn on Michael and Linc. Thank goodness they didn't kill off another escapee this week.
Sucre, and Maricruz reunion was fantastic and funny. Hopefully they leave that storyline alone for a while, and just center on theMichael/Linc/Sara story for a while.
I am so looking forward to the next epi.

I hate that I feel so badly for as reprehensible a character as T-bag! When Susan told him that she couldn't love him back, or even try to, I felt horrible for him. I am really glad that he called in the hostage situation so that she and the children were free, but I almost cried when he was sitting in the car crying. What a fabulous acting job by Robert Knepper, making me care so much for T-bag.

When Michael started the car and raced toward Pope, I said to the TV, "Run over Bill!" Good thing Michael was listening. :) And when Linc kicked the gun out of his hand and started beating on him, I seriously wanted him to grab the gun and shoot him. Then Kellerman shot the bodyguard, and Sara locked him out of the car before it raced off. That was one of the most satisfying action sequences on TV ever, IMO. Finally, things are going reasonably well for our heroes...and then Mahone captures C-Note.

Other than "our boys", the only three escapees that I wanted to see succeed were Tweener (that went well), C-Note and Sucre. I hate to think that C-Note will be responsible for bringing Michael down. Interesting that he didn't mention Linc; I think that for Malone, matching wits against Michael has become personal. Of course, I'm still hoping to see him switch allegiances and work against Bill Kim, assuming that he'll still be in charge.

Kudos to Robert Knepper; I've been a reluctant T-Bag fan only because of his skills, and tonight, he actually made me feel sympathy for the devil. I was glad that Susan and her kids were rescued; for my kids, I would have lied and told him that maybe I could love him a little in time, but in hindsight, she was probably saved by refusing him.

I won't say anything about the previews other than that they worry me, but I have faith in our guys to stay safe. I think.

Welcome back, Pope!

I must admit I am happier that the stories are coming back together. We now have Bellick and C-Note after the brothers. The show is at its best when focused on the brothers. Don't get me wrong I love Sucre and desperate to see T-Bag gets whats coming to him (although fingers crossed that its Michael or Linc who do the honours). But I watched all last season to see the brother escape and they will always be the show everything else I tend to "Sookie".

What a great episode!!!! (Outside of having a friend over that has seen maybe 3 of the episodes ever and asking 50 million questions during the show! What's with that! Wait for the dang commercials!!!)

I agree with everyone! I was SO VERY HAPPY that Michael ran Kim over with the car... And then Linc kicked his butt! YEAH!!!! YEAH!!!! I kinda was hoping that Linc would just kill Kim and get it over with! Kinda funny how Kim got to Chicago so quickly! Or did it really take THAT long to convince(sp) Pope to help them out? Sara locking Kellerman out of the car... Priceless... Kinda worried me thou... I mean, yes they got the memory stick and the info on it (which toward the end when they were starting to listen to it, I was like, oh no Pope erased it.. But I gather I was wrong...) and I have a feeling that it (memory stick) is the only reason that Kellerman was with them, to get that last damning (for lack of better words) information against the "Group" & Pres... But I can't help but wonder if Kellerman still had some use to them... Now we wont know if that is true, and now they have him as an enemy again... FUN!
C-Note... Yeah, he got his daughter to safety... Now 2 questions for y'all... 1. Do you really think the wife is out? I mean I would tell Mahone I will give you what you want when I see my wife with my own eyes... Ya know? & 2. Did Michael give that website (can't remember the name of it) to C-Note or Surce? I can not remember for the life of me... Cause I remember Michael saying "if you need to get ahold of us or need something check this website out" (along those lines)... But if any of you remember, please let me know... But ya know, I really see C-Note giving up Michael and Linc thinking he would get his freedom (of sorts) not realizing that once Mahone gets the information he wants he will kill him! You know it is going to happen...
Sucre, glad he met up with his Maricruz, now lets see if they get away again... Wonder if that nice man is going to help him again, considering now that he has his Maricruz back, maybe he will find Grace...
On to T-bag... Oh wow! His back story and such gives us insight as to why he has done some of the things he has done with no feeling involved in it... But for him to actually give up Susan and the kids to the cops, that caught me from left field... I would have never called that... And even thou I still think T-bag (character wise) is the biggest sleeze that makes my skin crawl, I did feel for him when he was crying at the end of the show... Now, my worry about him is this... Considering now he doesn't have this obsession with Susan and the kids anymore, plus he has all that money, what is he going to do with his time? Go on a killing spree? Raping spree? I can't even begin to think what he is going to do from here... So lets see where this one goes...

I agree with Monkey that I did watch the previews for next week... And I actually can't wait to watch the show next week... They were a bit nerve racking!

Till then... Bye!

What do I need to personally do to get Mr. Robert Knepper an EMMY??? The man is such a great actor. Last night I cried and laughed and really enjoyed last night show.

TBAG's story is what got me last night. When he asked Susan if she could love him or try to start loving him, I cried. I could not believe she said NO. TBAG even said he could not have kids and he was the last of his evil kind. Broke my heart. Well I love you TBAG. Seeing him with a family and how he enjoyed cooking for the lady who visited him on the last eppy made me really appreicate Robert Knepper more as an actor. He has been able to make us hate and love him at the same time. Please give him an EMMY!!!

I was happy to see Michael run over Kim LOL....too funny. and even Sara locking Kellerman out of the car.
It was REAL NICE to kee Stacy Keach the POPE back on the show. I wish there was some way he could be back on again more permanint. It was great how he showed his hate and love relationship for Michael as a son and let him go too.

Well until next time.

I haven't watched the show fully since the first couple of episodes this season. But I was at home this Monday and got the last half. Awesome, I suddenly missed it. Now I am going to have to play catch up! I too have always enjoyed Rober Knepper and TBAg.
How can you be so slimy and charming at the same time? Maybe its the accent. I also enjoyed the interaction with Sara, Linc, and Michael. Definitely will be taping next Monday!

JustMe-

Michael told Sucre the website when they were "working" in the guard lounge but C-Note walked in when Michael was telling Sucre and overheard him.

This is another one of the shows where I find myself shouting at the TV. I was egging Michael on to hit Kim with the car and cheered loudly when he ran him over. Sweet! And I was glad Pope didn't cave to Kim - I knew a gun wasn't going to intimidate a former prison warden.

I did, however, feel bad for Kellerman (a little bit) when Sara locked him out of the car, although I understand why she did it. His loyalties are still in question, but he might still have been some help to the brothers. Anyway, this dude is gonna snap soon and snap big.

I like Michael, Sara and Linc working together. She just brings a new angle to the process. I don't miss Veronica at all.

And I really do like C-Note. I feel awful for the guy; he's just been screwed over time and time again. I only hope he survives. This guy loves his daughter and his wife, and I knew he would have to turn himself in to save his little girl. Anybody wonder if Mahone was the one who gave the girl the teddy bear, or if it was from her father? I'm hoping Mahone spares the guy since he's a father too. (That was his kid in the beginning, right? I was on the phone and have no CC.)

Everyone seems to have forgotten about the $5 million, apparently still in T-Bag's possession. Has he hidden it somewhere? Is he carrying it with him? I'm wondering if Michael and Linc will try to retrieve the money once they have the law off their tail. You can bet your bottom dollar that Bellick hasn't forgotten at all.

I, too, loved tonight's ep. Loved having Pope back. We've gone too long without him.

Seeing Sara lock out Kellerman was beautiful! Her revenge wasn't quite equal to him trying to kill her, but it worked! And, of course, I loved the scene in the car between Michael and Sara. Now that they've pronounced their love for each other--although I guess technically they didn't! :)--it was nice to see a "normal" moment shared between them.

T-Bag. What to say? RK seriously needs an Emmy nod. As disgusting as a character T-Bag is, I felt sorry for him. In his deranged mind, I think there was a part of him that really thought he could make things work between him and Susan so that they'd be able to have normal life.

C-Note. I haven't really cared for his storyline up until last night's ep. It broke my heart. But he did the right thing by turning himself in for the sake of his daughter. Hopefully his wife truly is out of jail. However, what could he possibly have on Michael and/or Linc? Would the website be enough?

I really really loved this episode. Michael running over Kim, Linc beating the crap out of Kim, Sara locking out Kellerman (wonder if this is when Michael was going to cut him out) - all great. I thought for a minute that maybe Kim was going to grab Pope and push him in front of the car but am so glad that didn't happen. It was good to see Pope on the show again. He said he listened to the tape or whatever that SAra's dad had so I think that's why he let Michael out of his end of the deal.

I haven't like C-Note from the start but when he was holding his daughter and sitting on the milk crates and started crying, I actually teared up.

Wow - what can I say about T-Bag? What a FANTASTIC actor!!! I thought Susan was doomed when she didn't tell him that she could learn to love him in time to protect her and her kids but I guess T-Bag finally came to realize that it was never going to happen.

Until next week...

I agree with everyone, great episode. Additional thoughts...

1. Pope is now in danger because he helped them and he heard the recording.

2. Mahone bought the teddy bear, probably to give to his son when he saw him, but he gave it to C-Note's daughter at the hospital. The evil agent has a heart. Go figure.

3. I was not at all surprised at T-Bag's upbringing. No wonder he's so messed up. I'm glad he freed Susan and her kids. He seemed to hit rock bottom, maybe even suicidal. But what's he going to do with his millions?

Wasn't that the original Maricruz? I guess with "The Nine" cancelled, she got her old gig back...

I don't know how this show continually masters the nail-biting conclusion every week; I so wanted to know what they were about to say about the recording.

Agree with some others about Susan's firmness in rejecting T-Bag; I don't think I could have done that, knowing how violent he can be. I would have led him on, hoping to escape at some point. I guess tough love works sometimes...
