Disappointed in repeat instead of new show as listed

I was disappointed tonight when a repeat was aired instead of what the TV Guide had listed for NCIS, Episode Detail: Tribes - NCIS
The agents investigate the death of a Muslim Marine who is found near a mosque. The case has a setback when Ducky refuses to autopsy the man out of respect for the family's beliefs. Khalid Mohammed Bakr: Shaun Toub. Brent Langer: Jonathan LaPaglia. Capt. Jim Mills: David Haydn-Jones.
I'm tired of the networks pulling shows because they are afraid they will offend someone. Not sure that's why but it sure offeded me that they gave me another repeat.

I'm not sure it was in order to not offend but perhaps to not use up their new episodes while the writer's strike continues. Either way, I too am not happy... But what can we expect from CBS - maybe they'll guest star Katie Couric in a future episode.....

I, too, am not happy about this. So what will we see next week the show that was to be shown today or another repeat?:(
I know nothing about the writers strike but maybe get the ghost writers going or some thing.

I have been trying to find the new NCIS this evening too - did they really pull it in case of offending someone? So lame,,,,,,,,,,,

With the holidays coming next week, it seems like it will be at least a month until we're able to see the new episode promised to us tonight. I was so excited to sit down tonight after studying for hours for my finals, only to find that CBS was only showing a rerun. I have to say, I am quite disappointed as well.

I was disappointed as well. Every TV listing I looked at said "new" episode. I think it probably has more to do with the strike and holidays than anything else.

I was bummed that there was no heads up about the switch. My tivo recorded the repeat because of it!

There is a Muslim holiday this week so perhaps between the strike and out of respect the network decided to save the show for Jan?

Surely it was not for fear of offending anyone. Why bother making the show if they are scared to air it. I don't think that was the reason. Possibly as the other poster stated, they are trying to save some new episodes for when the strike causes everything to go into reruns. Who knows what they are thinking. I wouldn't mind if they reran some of the older shows that are not on the air any longer. I mean some shows from the 80's even.

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- With its first-run cupboards nearly empty, CBS has quietly pulled new episodes of "NCIS," "Criminal Minds" and "CSI: NY" from this week's schedule.

Said installments - "Tribes" (December 18), "3rd Life" (December 19) and "Happily Never After" (December 19) respectively - will be replaced by repeats from earlier this season - "Bury Your Dead," "About Face" and "The Deep."

No new air dates have been announced.

"CSI: Miami" (December 17), "The Unit" (December 18) and "Cane" (December 18) also have new episodes slated for this week but will run as normal.

My husband was also disappointed as TV Guide stated that NCIS, The Unit, and Cane were new episodes.
I guess we are all into watching re-runs or watching all those realty shows.

Lsstnights episode (1/8/08) was also listed as new and it was not. TVGUIDE get it right. How hard is it to flip the switch from 'new' to 'repeat'?

I was very upset they didn't air the final NCIS Tuesday night, but instead aired a rerun. Why bother at all.

I am enjoying watching the first season of NCIS on USA Wednesday nights. Its better than nothing until the writers and producers get their acts together.

It looks like they're finally going to air the episode from last month that they pulled. It's listed again. Hopefully they'll follow through this time.
