How about some love for Medium!

Is anyone else getting tired of hearing about all the other shows on tv (Grey's,Lost,& Housewives, etc,) while Medium is either ignored or trashed? This show is better than almost everything on tv, especially those above, and deserves more recognition than it's getting from certain entertainment magazines (i.e. all of them). The cast and writing are phenomenal (it's no fluke that Patricia Arquette won an Emmy, or that she's nominated for both Golden Globe and SAG awards AGAIN this year). Come on, people, show some love!

I love Medium. It's one of my favorite shows on TV. I'm so used to it being on Mondays that I sometimes forget that it's now on Wednesdays. But it's a won't miss show for me.

It really is disheartening, the way Medium is treated by the mainstream media. I just don't get it.

Listen up, all you Medium fans out there! How about we do something about the way our fave show is being treated? Let's let all those magazines, and even NBC, know how we feel about this show. And let's see if we can get them to move it back to Monday nights before that 'island' show comes back and kills it. Also, if any of you can e-mail Ausiello and Roush at this site, how about tell them to ease up off of Medium and Patricia Arquette. Ausiello is reporting some backstage trouble at Medium and it doesn't sound good for our show. Keep the love coming.

Has anyone else read Ausiello's report of troubles on the Medium set? Does it seem like the only thing he has to say is negative(unless it's about one of those "hot" shows like Grey's, Lost, Housewives, or 24)? Does anyone remember when Medium first came on and no one had anything but praise for it? What's changed? The show certainly hasn't. It's as great as ever, and so is the cast. So why don't they give it the same attention they give those other shows? Is it just me or is there no fairness in their journalism?

First of all, in defense of Michael Ausiello, I think he was showing Medium some love when he ran that item about back stage stuff. Did you see where someone from the show called and thanked him for running it? I think he was bringing the show up and that is a good thing. I love Medium, I always have and always will. I love the chemistry between the characters and I love Bridget so much I would adopt her if I could! I have other shows I love too and it doesn't mean they are bad because Medium is good. I get sick of the Lost bashing or any show I love bashing by people who don't watch it. Frankly, Medium is the type of show some people love to hate because of the subject matter. It's their loss because the stories are compelling and the performances are great. Have you read the post here on David Cubitt? His chemistry with Patricia Arquette is so amazing, I think. All of these things make me love this show and frankly, I don't care what anyone else thinks.

In reply to your defense of Ausiello,my question is why do he and other journalists like him only mention the show when they only have something negative to say? Perhaps if they talked about the show and its stars as much as those other shows, it would be doing better in the ratings. All I'm asking for is a little equal respect and attention for Medium. While I am not trying to bash those other shows, I would just like to see less bias in their reporting.

it is totally unfair they push the shows they like, studio 60 is one for sure, and guess what 30 rock, rocks! never mention lifetime, absolutely fabulous, they igore so many good shows. and push the wrong ones.

Hopefully, you're all reading my very-pro Medium blog every week. This should allay any fears that we at TV Guide don't completely love the show to death! Sorry, but to the person who wants to adopt Bridgette - I've got first dibs - she's fantastic, isn't she?

Yea Paula! Thank you for writing about Medium! Frankly, I'm sick to death of hearing about "24", "Heroes", "Studio 60", "The Office", etc. when Medium is largely ignored.

Do you think you could get an interview with the hunkiest, most adorable man ever - David Cubitt - of course! The man is perfect in every way! If someone isn't watching "Medium" now, David Cubitt is "Must See" TV!

Yes, Paula, I do read your blog every week (I love it, by the way) and I realize that not everyone at TV Guide is against Medium, but it seems that you are in a minority over there. We never see anything about it in the magazine and the other writers on this site who do mention it, usually only do so in passing. How about a little more recognition for a fantastic show? Is that so much to ask? And when are we going to stop having Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives shoved down our throats. I'm sure they are good shows, but I'm sick of hearing about them all the time, and don't get me started on the rampant re-awarding of awards to these shows while ignoring great shows like Medium. Doesn't the cast of Medium deserve a nod for Best Ensemble? And the reason I don't watch those other shows is purely a matter of principle. I like to choose what I watch based on what I want to watch, not whatever show is hottest at the moment or what some journalist is telling me I should watch. If they would stop throwing these shows in my face every time I turn around, I might be more inclined to watch them, but as long as they continue to do this while ignoring shows like Medium, I will refuse.

:-x LOVE MEDIUM! Love the characters! Love the story lines! I also keep thinking it's on Monday and I actually missed Feb 7th show! Does NBC have a playback online of the shows? I wish the show was 2 hours instead of one! I think because Alison and Joe are so great together and they have great kids is why the media rags don't hype the show. The media likes to brainwash the public into believing that cheating, lying is the norm. It's Not! The characters of Medium are EXTRAORDINARY! LOVE MEDIUM!!

I agree! Those media types who sit up there and decide what we the public want to watch seem to think that all the public wants is cheating and lying. Not a show that depicts characters that actually seem real with stories that involve and intrigue the viewer and keep them entertained. "Medium" does all of this while maintaining its original theme of portraying this woman's gift and showing how she copes with it and balances all of the different aspects of her life, without resorting to sordid love triangles and twisted plot lines that leave you too confused to continue watching week after week. I think this is absolutely the best show on television and I hope that the powers that be at NBC realize this and keep it around for a long time.

Paula - I check your blog first thing Thursday mornings!

I really do love Medium and am concerned about its renewal. NBC never does treat its shows well.

I'm convinced that American Idol is paying area radio stations to talk about it all of the time - every morning. That's all I hear driving to work!

You're absolutely right, taz. I think that ABC and FOX have every media outlet in the country in their back pocket. Why else would we hear about Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, 24, and American Idol incessantly? JMO. And like you, I am anxiously awaiting NBC's decision to renew Medium. I think it is by far the best show on the network, and possibly on tv. But I keep telling myself that they will renew it because it is their highest rated show on Wednesday nights, even if it is against Lost. But I really don't think Lost has much left in it. I think it's on its way out(I hope).
