LOST has definitely "lost" it's appeal

I can't believe how bad the third season is! Did they change writers or were the original writers on drugs when they wrote this season? Absolutely NOTHING makes sense if you've followed the last 2 seasons. The second season ended with 2 guys (whom we hadn't seen until that point) on a boat in the middle of some ocean and they were getting a signal that was supposed to be a reference to the hatch. Then one of them makes a phone call to some woman who's looking at a picture on a nightstand of her and Jack (or was it Locke--I can't remember). That's where the second season ended. Where was the explaination about that this season?? Nothing has really been explained from where they left off last season. In fact, they completely abandoned that storyline! They brought back the polar bear and there's now another "monster" on the island and now Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are on a completely different island. Give me a break!! Judging by the letters in TV Guide Magazine, there are a lot of unhappy viewers out there; I'll be very surprised if Lost makes it to a fourth season. I have to agree with my husband who said that, "Lost is getting really stupid." But Lost is like that really bad show that was on in the 80's "Twin Peaks"--you just got to keep watching to see how far out there the writers will go. Okay, Lost isn't quite as bad as Twin Peaks was---not yet anyway, but it's getting there fast.

Well, with it going to a hiatus for the next couple of months it should be a good time to regroup, don't you think. I haven't actually seen that many episodes of it this season, but I think that the show that is going to be replacing it for th hiatus, Day Break, seems like it's going to be pretty cool. Plus, it has that same Lost-feel of trying to figure out what is going on...

I agree in large part - of the 1/3 season that just concluded, only a third of that was really good. The flashbacks and most of the scenes in the original camp were nothing new.

Still, I'm hoping the show can build on what was good this year (Kate, Sawyer, Jack, and the Others).

I talk about some of this in my current Light On Light Through podcast and in a recent twice upon a rhyme blog post.

why do they show 3 episodes and then go to Feb for the rest of the shows this is rediculous. If you start a season stay with it till the finale!!!

Not really sure what show you all are watching but LOST definitely has NOT lost it's appeal!!! In fact, it gets better with each episode. Enough so that I wish it were on 2 hours each night. If you know anything about the show then you know that the creators answer mysteries and then create more. Without them the show would be boring. I honestly believe the show gets better & better as it goes on.

I also wanted to clarify a couple of points that were mentioned.... First, the picture the woman was looking at was of herself & Desmond and I believe her father is somehow involved with Dharma.... and second, the other 'monster' is not new. The 'monster' has been seen before in season 2 a couple of times. Just to let you know.

Having NOT seen any of season 3, (live in the UK and it starts this Sunday!) I did manage to catch a bit of the first episode when I was on vacation in September/October.

I tried to watch season 2 but couldn't get into it. Then when I saw the first epsiode, I began salvating at what I had missed.

From what I've read, it sounds like it is going to be pretty intresting these season. The writers have to explore new ideas or it will get stale.

As for the end of season 2, well it was Desmond who was in the photo and the woman was the daughter of the rich guy who tried to pay Desmond to get lost. What is intresting about this is that finally someone from outside the island knows about them, or could this woman and her fathers company have a intrested in the Hanso foundations research on the island.....

Boat? Where was the boat that the two guys out on the arctic tundra were supposedly floating in? And how did you miss that the woman they called was the same woman who popped up in all of Desmond's flashbacks?

And a new monster? You gotta be kidding me...

This is a show that rewards close reading -- and unfortunately leaves passive viewers well in the dark, as you're now learning. The smoke monster could even be seen in the pilot episode, if you were watching closely.

But it's not regular television. It's about what YOU are able to perceive and bring to the narrative as well. Just about all of your questions have already been answered by the show, but no characters came out and said the answers outright. And they're not going to, because it's just not like old style television.

Give it another go through, watch for clues, and you'll see this whole narrative meshes quite nicely.

Oh come on. Do you realize the name of the show? LOST? Not only are they lost but there are so many avenues to explore when you have that many people on the show. I don't want them to tell me everything in one episode, it takes time to tell each story and how they are all somehow connected. I LOVE this show. My husband and I will do nothing else when this comes one. During the first season, it was our one year wedding anniversary and we ate quick so we could make it open ASAP to watch the episode. Last year on our anniversary, we skipped a get together so we could be home. This show is the bomb! I love it that they keep me on the edge of the couch and have me guessing. Thank you producers, directors, sound, lighting and the actors and whomever else! I love this!:-x
