9:01: The history of Julie Andrews is still rolling, and I'm actually learning a lot. Did anyone else know about her books and donations?
9:04: Dick Van Dyke's bow tie is huge! But how can you not love him, right? Who better to present the life-achievement award to Julie than him? Eddie Murphy's right... the British actors do sound really distinguished when giving their speeches — Julie didn't even flinch. Patrick Dempsey looks bored, though. Sit up straight, doc, the camera is always watching!

How great does Julie Andrews look? Can you believe she's over 70?!?
And will Entourage ever win an award? Jeremy Piven is fantastic, and that show is amazing. They need to win an award sometime!

Piven did win the emmy.
Agaisnt my better judgement I'll say Wilson, only because this is actors voting. I truly hope she wins.

I met Julie Andrews once, and she's just as gracious as she appears. I heard her give a speech and then met her after, and in her speech, she mentioned that she owes much of her career to luck. I said, "Well yeah, but you're pretty talented, too!", and she said, "There are lots of talented people out there who never make it, a lot of it is left up to luck." She's a very humble woman, and it was one of the great thrills of my life to have spent a few minutes with her. I smile every time I see the picture that I had taken with her. Go Julie! Congrats on a well-deserved honor.

This was very classy all the way around - from the two presenters, Anne and Dick, who have genuine love and respect for Julie to her acceptance speech. She seemed humbled to be honored for her great body of work, which covers so much more than acting! I didn't know about the children's books and the humanitarian work she does. She was truly happy for the achievement award.
This is in stark contrast to the recent award for Warren Beatty at the Golden Globes. Not only was Tom Hanks' presentation speech raunchy and tacky but there did not seem to be a real connection from him to Warren - I didn't see a lot of respect for Warren's work. And Warren didn't not show any real happiness about the award - if he didn't thank his wife during his speech, it could have been anyone up on the stage talking about anything. And his "body of work" pales in comparison to Julie - she is far more worthy of a life achievement award than a lot of actors out there.
Go Julie - congratulations!!
