« Law & Order: Criminal Intent
Jeff Goldblum (YUCK)!
Yuck.
I know Vincent D'nofrio (sp?) can't be in every episode, but seriously replacing Chris Noth (not the greatest actor that ever lived) with Jeff Goldblum (who in addition to being a lousy actor is an A #1 creep in person if you've ever seen him slobber over young girls in the gym in L.A.) is NOT an upgrade to the franchise.
Okay.. we get it... you probably couldn't afford Chris any more.
How about an interesting woman? Certainly Mary McCormack is showing how USA viewers can be drawn to a quirky woman character? How about one of the other interesting characters from the L&O universe?
How about some creative scheduling by guesting in other people from the L&O (all francises) universe. Surely there's someone who comes with more audience appeal that creepy Jeff.
I guess I'll only watch half of L&O in the future. When you get a clue and fire Jeff after one season, maybe I'll be back.
Sigh.

I agree with everything you wrote.
you said Jeff Goldblum is a creep, i think he's creepy and un-intimating.
but since i watch all L+O regardless, i'll give him a chance too.

Honestly, I don't think if Jeff Goldblum is the right one to replace Chris Noth.

I've been suffering Goren forever (what an overactor) hoping for Logan's return & now Noth is leaving - I guess after next week CI will be off my list, along with all your Reality Shows,NBC. Noth B+ compared to D'Onofrio's C-, but otherwise I agree about Goldblum.

The characters Jeff Goldblum has played in the past remind me very much of a Goren with swagger. I wonder if Vincent D'Onofrio is planning to leave and they're "trying out" Jeff Goldblum to play "the wacko" on the squad. More than one brilliant, weird detective seems like overkill. I love Vincent D'Onofrio's infusion of humor into the Goren character; it sets him apart from all the other L&O detectives. Only the late Jerry Ohrbach's Lenny Briscoe showed much humor and his was based in frustration with the system. The one thing I don't get is that they'll be paying JG $250,000 per episode; how does he rate that? Is he going to give a piano concert each epi, too? (I've heard he's an accomplished pianist)

I want Chris Noth back!!! I mean, seriously guys, Jeff Goldblum? On Law & Order? Here's hoping the writers give him a decent character and some sharply written episodes...
Personally, I would love to see someone more like Noth as a replacement than Goldblum. Someone who can do cynical and have a bit of gravitas. But isn't it funny how everyone's leaving on the crime dramas? Khandi Alexander on CSI: Miami, Gary Dourdan, Jorja Fox and William Petersen (damn, that's bad!) on CSI and Diane Neal and Adam Beach on SVU. Talk about writers wanting the lion's share of the profits.

I'm not a big fan of "Mr. Big" but I'd rather see him on the show than Jeff Goldblum. Sorry

I think even if we don't like it we better get used to eventually seeing Goldblum on the show. I hate changes.
