Episode Recap: Lady of the Lake

Hey L-Community!

My cable went out Friday and I just now got it back, so I apologize that I don't have a recap posted yet.

Luckily, cable networks always re-air the helloutta their shows, so it'll be recording this evening. I'm going to come back and replace this with a "proper" recap ASAP.

For now, if you all wanted to start chatting about the episode without me, go for it! I will be back to post my thoughts as soon as I can.

Ciao!

Minimal Jenny this episode -- Hooray! I do sense some crazy Single White Female shennanigans with her new assistant, though. Shane was cracking me up more than usual this episode. How long do you think it will be before she breaks the ban on her self-imposed "cleanse"?

Overall, a good episode. Not sure why Bette was being such a fuddy-duddy when she was with Jodie and her friends. She didn't appear to put forth any effort to have a good time or get to know the most important people in Jodie's life. That relationship is not long for this world. And as long as that gets Bette back on track with Tina, I'm okay with it.

Quick recap then. The episode began with another fantasy sequence as they all have this year, although Alice's dreaming of them all as Charlie's Angels was a bit daft (although it would have been a great excuse to bring Erin Daniels in - I bet she'd have been in Alice's dream as Helena wasn't there when Jenny first arrived.)
However, Alice as Farrah Fawcett was hilarious!
Bette goes away with Jodi for the weekend to meet all her friends, and it doesn't go well to say the least. They are like frat boys to Bette's ice princess. However, she doesn't make much effort and gets thrown in the lake. Rather silly. Wonder if that relationship is doomed!
Kit gets held up by armed robbers. Poor Pam Grier, even a big dramatic happening like that only gets her about 2 minutes screen time.
Max has a podcast he's made - please God don't let it be a tranny blog. Is anyone really interested in Max? Probably the most Max heavy ep for a while.
No Phyllis or Joyce this week. Jenny just hangs out with her fawning assistant, which was quite funny at the gym. Jenny has to be one of the weediest girls ever. I can't actually see any reason for her to even be at a gym, except they had to get her in the episode somewhere I suppose.
Tina goes internet dating (another plus for Our Chart - Showtime must be putting a lot of money into that!) and meets a women into art, and with huge breast implants! I was a bit worried we might have a puncture at one point!
Tasha gets official notification of being discharged for homosexual activity, but I must say, their evidence sounds pretty thin: being seen with women and having her arm round one, having a row with Alice, helping a female colleague get a promotion. Come on Tasha, fight it! Rose Rollins did a great job of showing why she loves her job so much.
Helena gets out of prison, although her and Dusty seem very close now - they even do jigsaws together, aaaaahhhh. How sweet! Holland Taylor returns and is as magnificently bitchy as ever - even more so actually! Helena decides to make a run for it and find the money she stole. I do hope she isn't leaving the show as I really like her.
Shane is off sex, but is in deep denial. An innocent hug with Helena has her grabbing her for a smooch due to her frustration!
Overall a good episode. They are keeping the light tone of the show with drama rather than melodrama, which is a relief after some previous seasons.

All in all this episode was better than last weeks'.

Gotta say when Kit was getting robbed I was thinking "Foxy Brown, kick some a**", but alas, that was not meant to be. Maybe this will open her up to reconciling with Angus, or is he history?

I didn't understand why Bette was such a cold fish during the weekend getaway with Jodi's friends. Obviously this was the first nail in the coffin of that relationship. I too want Tina and Bette to get back together. Also, I noticed that Tina is looking really slim this season.

This comment is a little off topic of this episode, but I was watching Terminator 3 on AMC this weekend and BloodRayne on Sci-Fi and all of a sudden I realized it was Paige. I knew I recognized her from somewhere.

I really liked the Helena story this week. She has sure come a long way in the last three seasons. From spoiled Mommy's girl to a strong and independent woman. I was hoping someone would tell off her mother. Demeaning your daughter in public in front of her friends is really not at all cool. I was cheering Helena on to spring Dusty and head to the South Pacific but I will certainly miss her. She has provided a good bit of the humor in the last two years.

I totally agree, Cate! Where are the recaps? Also, why isn't there a link to the L Word under the All TV Show Blogs?

Afterellen.com has GREAT recaps of each episode -- they come out on Wednesdays, but they're worth the wait.

I'm guessing TV Guide has dropped their recaps. They did that last season too from what I rememember.
Yes, the AfterEllen recaps are great, but I'd like to see coverage of the show on a mainstream site like TV Guide too.
Hey TV Guide people, I'll do your recaps for you if you like!!!
