Episode Recap: "To C.I.R. with Love"

Welcome back to the rest of Season 2 of Kyle XY. ABC Family's decision to show the first half of the season last summer/fall was a nice treat, because now we will actually have 10 weeks of fresh episodes instead of being subjected to reruns due to the writers' strike.

Overall I was expecting more. I was let down by this episode. Kyle was going to jump off the edge after Jessi, but Foss, stops him. Is Jessi really dead?

Kyle is starting to realize that Foss has been taking care of Baylin but the rest of the organization still exists, and has been helping Foss take care of Baylin.

Kyle has been told to tell the Trager the truth. Kyle spills the truth. Josh has the expected reaction. "Whoa, that is so much cooler than anything he could think of."

Nicole is not upset, she welcomes him home. Steven, Nicole, and Kyle are plotting how to bring down Madacorp.

Kyle has balls, he walks right up to Ballantine and states, " hear you were looking for me?" Kyle wants to make a deal with Ballantine to save the Trager. The "Laurie Trager is open for business line" sounds so much like a prostitute — how did that get past the censors?

Declan walks in. Laurie and Declan chat, and Declan is still so hooked on her.

I don't think the deal is going to work, Jessi is alive. She is trying to get all the information out by writing on a glass wall. Now both Kyle and Steven are busted and being held. Nicole is worried about Steven and Kyle.

Jessi and Kyle are connected somehow. Kyle is trying to get Jessi to not give out the information in her head. Did Kyle cause that power spike or did Jessi? Brian Taylor is back and warns Kyle that the machine will fry his brain if he does not co-operate. Together, Kyle and Jessie overpower the machine. Kyle and Jessi blacked out the whole city.

I know that this is going to sound harsh, but is TV Guide having a writers' strike, too? I'm sorry, but this recap is hardly the kind that I would expect on a professional site. For starters, it's "Ballantine" and "Trager". Then there are the incomplete sentences, and the verbiage that sounds like a teenager talking to his buddy.

In my view, you could better post a complete recap rather than a stream-of-consciousness partial one. At least be sure of your spelling, have your tenses agree, and check to see if the punctuation is placed where it should be. I'm trying to be constructive rather than cruel, and I hope that I've accomplished it.

Thank god I was not the only one that thought this recap sucked. I was going to ask if it was written by a 10 year old. There were sooo many misspellings and grammar errors that it gave me a headache. Never a good sign when the two people who have commented are not commenting on the show, but how the recap was written.

I enjoyed the episode, but I wonder where the show goes from here.

And count me as a third person who thought that was the worst recap ever. If you can't spell the characters names properly, you probably haven't invested enough time into the show to be the one doing the recap.

"Overall I was expecting more. I was very let down by this" recap/blog.
Really? That's what the official TVGuide blog has to offer? That's disappointing.
Just to add to the many errors already pointed out, I'm pretty sure the guy's name is not Brain.

Add another voice to question the quality of the recap . . . .

I liked the show tonight. It tied up a lot of loose ends that had been dangling since the cliff-hanger. I was also wondering where they could take the show after this, since it could have been an end-of-the-series episode. I won't give away anything from the previews since I know there are people who don't watch them, but suffice it to say there is more story to tell.

My favorite part was the warm-and-fuzzy stuff. Kyle's family is supporting him no matter what! Yeah!!!

While I agree, the recap was poorly written, I feel it important to remind people commenting of a single, possible, truth. It is my understanding these TV Bloggers, for all shows, do this on a voluntary basis. If a blogger decides not to do these, they just have to say, "no". There would be no repercussions except to the commentary list.

At least this gives us a nice forum for commentary on the show ourselves, correct? Also if you'd like to write a blog yourself, go to the menu bar above and select "Join the discussion". Then all you need to do is select "Community Blogs" on the pull down menu.

Not chastising anyone, just trying to point out, even a poor blog is better than no blog. At least this way we can post our thoughts. ☺

As for the show itself, I'll wait for a reviewing today. My first impression was it felt kind of crammed into one hour.

Okay - First off:

Yes Marc, your blog lacked a lot of professionalism today. It was filled full of typo's and the content was certainly below your standard work! Please don't try to mail in a review, we are not stupid!

Second - I really enjoyed the episode and certainly did learn a thing or two. Brian Taylor took the diner picture? What the hell, didn't see that coming! I was always fairly certain that Julian Ballantine (not Valintine) was not entirely working with Madacorp but why? Is this technology worth money or is it power?

I don’t typically post to the discussion boards but I just wanted to add to the discussion of the show rather than the discussion of the writer.

I have to start out saying that I love Kyle XY and I have been eagerly anticipating it return. Which may be why I have to admit that I was somewhat let down by the episode. Don’t get me wrong I thought that the episode was great, but I like I had built up in n=my imagination to the point that I was expecting more. So when the resolution came I was like “okay that makes sense” instead of “wow that’s amazing”.

As another poster mentioned I really enjoyed the emotional moments. Like the candlelight family dinner and Amanda sitting in the tub when Kyle got home from the hospital. I also like the offbeat funny moments like Josh’s random confessions while trying to keep Kyle’s secret (you just know he is going crack), or Andy playing the “cancer card” to get crepe and Laurie and Declan destroying the items in the “breakup box”. I don’t think that the show felt like a series ender, it felt more like a new beginning. Which I think is much better than trying to drag out the old story lines. Please forgive me if I rambled on to long, but I as I said earlier I love this show. It is far from serious life altering television, but it is still a great show.

Having stayed pretty spoiler-free, I was a little surprised that we got a wrap-up to the first half of Season Two - which meant it really felt to me like a season finale. So I was thrown off that so many of the big topics from the first half of the season were wrapped up so quickly. I was expecting a continuation of much of that into this half of the season.

That said, we still have Baylan (spelling?) in a sort of coma, and, although it's quite possible I did miss something said about that, that's an item still to be dealt with.

I have to say, as the Tom Foss fan on this site, that it sounds very much like he's not coming back, or at least for a while. I'm going to assume that's because he is filming 'Men In Trees' episodes, but he was the main reason I tuned in in the first place! But I'll keep watching, of course.

And on an entirely unrelated note, I got a big grin out of seeing the 4400 center again.

Have you noticed that the writers have very obviously avoided Kyle calling Jessi his "sister." Even the consideration. He just keeps claiming that they are "the same." It looks to me like the writers haven't decided yet whether those two will come together as a couple later on. And I guess they think that once they even consider the the sibling route, the writers will be pigeon-holed.

But then why cast two actors who look so much alike? Not to mention how much they look like the actor who plays Adam Baylin. It looks like writing on the fly to me.

But, okay, Adam and Sarah just happened to look alike when they got together 20 years ago. That is possible.

But Kyle didn't know that for awhile. He doesn't even know the whole story now.

I just think that Jessi as his "sister" would have to be something Kyle would think of once or twice, regardless of what is the real truth to be revealed down the line.

WOW!!! That seriously was the worst episode recap I have ever read on this site. So, so unprofessional, and just wow - just bad.

With that said, I would also like to say: YEAH! Kyle XY is back! I have missed you so! I'm glad we get 9 more weeks of something fresh to watch since almost everything else is in reruns. It was also nice to see the commercial last night announcing Greek will be back in March!!!

Okay ~ I agree ~ Pretty weird recap.

I really enjoyed the show though! I agree that it kind of seemed like the series finale ~ Everything got wrapped up ~ But I think the previews for the season look really good. I like the idea of Jesse showing off her powers and obviously she will have a struggle between good and not good.

At least the recap mentioned the line Lori Trager is open for business. Yikes that sounded really really bad. They went a bit far on that one I think. Obviously they tried to turn it around and had Lori and Declan decide not to do anything but that is kind of unrealistic since they had that huge amount of condoms. Pretty weird for a family show. They seem to get away with a lot on this show. I usually like the way they deal with issues but...oh well!

Am I the only one who doesn't really like the idea of the girl telling a complete stranger that she has cancer so she can get the last crepe? I am not liking this aspect of the show at all. There is just something weird about it. I don't know if I would go so far as to say disrespectful to people with cancer but ... just weird. Like when she had the shirt that said "cancer girl". There is something just not right about that.

Marc - is it to much to ask that you right your blog like you love this show and not someone that had a gun to their head and forced to right it?

I love this show! I too was a little let down by the episode, but I think it was like someone else posted, I built it up in my mind also and I sort of forgot it was originally meant to not be a season opener episode. My favorite line from the show was by Laurie "Yeah - I got the previously on-- update from Kyle".
