February 7, 2007: This Turned into a Damn Tearjerker
Is this show really about robbing Mick Jagger or is it about spoofing other shows? Last week we had the ubiquitous sappy date, and this week we had the reuniting of a long-lost father and son. And what a moment it was. What a lovely thing it was to finally hear those words every parent wants to hear upon seeing their child for the first time: “I assume you’re my millionaire father, but who are those other people?”
The bonding scene was the “They aren’t really doing this. Oh, my god, they’re really doing this” kind of greatness that comes along every so often (more often than not with this show, but rarely outside of it). I don’t know who thought of having Gary sing “Cat’s in the Cradle” in Hindi, but it was a moment of pure nirvana for me. Of course, this was really an episode to showcase Maz Jobrani, what with that and his singing the ringtones that supposedly made his character a millionaire. He, Rockefeller and Squatch always get the best lines, but tonight his, “When I was just a little bit older than you, I once had a romantic interlude with the cafeteria lady at my school. What? At the end of the day when the hairnets come off, they’re just ordinary women with needs,” was a strong contender for the win, as it was hilarious and expanded on the character’s (already well established) backstory.
Of course, the other dialogue in the running was Rockefeller’s exchange with the Burton security guy, after referring to Ajay as his son “Tyree”: — “My lady’s so white, she like a nurse’s uniform.” — “So you end up with an Indian kid from that?” — “Hey, I don’t question the boss. I’m an intelligent-design guy all the way… all the way.” Basically, this show is evil, and I love it.
In addition to satirizing other television shows, we got a wonderfully successful mocking of corporate culture tonight, when Eugene got the cubical-dweller out of the way by saying that everyone was headed to the break room for a birthday celebration. I also loved his explanation that to move the filing cabinets took one set of authorizations and to move them back took another — it just seemed so (depressingly) real.
Other wonderful moments included Louis taping up his face (“Joe College: getting it done”) and the “Halloweem” discussion (and no, that isn’t a typo, all of you who haven’t yet seen the episode). But the greatest one-liner of a night full of great one-liners — and I’m sorry if this leaves you with a horrible mental image until the next episode — had to be, “You’re the female, Indian Don Rickles.” Welcome to the height of snarky absurdity, population: Gourishankar.

This was a great episode, and I hope the new time schedule helps it. I mean wat show iz funnier than this now... What I dont understand is, how ABC can move this show and a few others around, but throw DAYBREAK to the curb. ABC moved the NINE, but not daybreak?.. maybe its just me, but im afraid that a show this good might go the daybreak route.... Well I guess I could always pray...

This show gets funnier every week. By far the funniest moment was Cat's in the Cradle. I died laughing!!! Seriously, the best comedy on tv. You never know what to expect. Eugene said he knew a way for them to get into the building by being invisible. Then they came in with his janitor uniform!!!! Hilarious!!!! And the guy didn't even think twice!!!!

OMG this show is sooo funny. The ending with the pictures of the women and children he left behind, I was laughing so hard.
This show is easily the best comedy on t.v. It needs to be picked up by channel 2 who has a comedy block. ABC doesn't have any comedies to pair it with. George Lopez and Jim don't count.
Long Live The Knights of Prosperity

Loved every second of it! Being Indian, I'm sure I laughed a little harder at certain things than others did (for example, Squatch calling Ajay "Ajax" really got me!)
This along with the Diwali episode of The Office has given me lots of bonus enjoyment in my TV this year. In the past all I had was "Apu"
Wonderful show and I REALLY hope ABC lets it stick around.

I am so glad I stuck with this show. I do wish it stayed in the old time slot since it's on at the same time as Friday Night Lights now. But if it helps the ratings to keep it on, I'll be fine taping one or the other. Also, another scene I loved was when Squatch was trying to act like he knew how to hack the computer because of something he saw on "24." Being a fan of that show too, I thought it was truly funny.

Amen to hating that Knights is on opposite FNL. For some, Thursdays are the hardest night on TV — for me, it's Wednesdays...

This show is my favorite new show of the seaason. I always look forward to watching it on Wednesdays because I know it will make me laugh. Can't wait for next weeks episode.
My favorite part was when Gary was trying to bond with his son at the park.

Love the Knights. They make me laugh out loud. You missed a Roosevelt quote: Our a$$es will get hoisted on their own petard. I had to rewind on that one. They are priceless. This is so much like watching a soap opera, one feeds into the next, only with laughs. I wonder if we'll see Gary's son again.

This show is hilarious! I did see The Tao of Steve, and just about everything else Donal Logue has done - he is one of my favorite actors.
I had my doubts in the beginning that the writers could sustain the premise for 22 episodes, but they just keep getting funnier and funnier. The "Cat in the Cradle" bit was genius.
This is exactly the kind of show ABC will move to Friday night and kill. Whomever does their programming is probably considering a Carrot Top sitcom to replace it.
Hail to the Knights of Prosperity! They represent our fantasies and dreams, and make us laugh while they do it.
