Joan Rivers RUINS the Red Carpet!!!
Joan Rivers makes TV Guide's coverage of the Red Carpet Absolutely unwatchable. Every year, I try to watch, thinking that surely the powers that be MUST have recognized the folly in allowing her to speak, make repeated, desperate attempts at humor, and "interview" celebrities. This year, I was again horrified and again switched over to another channel for Red Carpet coverage. Joan Rivers is absolutely unfunny and uncreative (her spoofs on Oscar-nominated movies was not only a tired idea, the robotic-like way she delivered her lines combined with the lack of humor made them just sad). She does little, if any, research on the celebrities she speaks with: Instead of asking Forest Whitaker about his role in "The Last King of Scotland", or his reasearch for the role, she asked him about football, because he played in his youth. Her comments are also entirely out-of-touch with today's audience--she mentioned three-mile island, not a very current reference. She also fumbles her lines and is unrehearsed (she first called three-mile island "ten-mile island"). Joan Rivers' is horrifying and unwatchable. If she wasn't so awful, I might feel pity for her. TV Guide should get rid of her as soon as possible and hire someone else to cover the Red Carpet, someone who possess the qualities Joan lacks: humor, talen, youth, relatability, and the ability to properly pronounce words.

I SO AGREE!!
I am appalled and offended by Joan Rivers and the others in the Oscar fashion show on Monday night, 2/26/07. How they laughed and made fun of George Takei’s traditional Japanese clothing was downright rude and disrespectful of the Japanese culture. They should research our world’s cultures before they make statements on such things. They know nothing of respecting other cultures and how they dress. Just because the Oscars was held in America does not mean that people of other cultures cannot dress in their own traditional wear. I demand that they apologize on the air to all Japanese.

Ditto. Time for her to leave. She has no clue and Melissa... I was switching between E & TV Guide. All seem to avoid her or can't wait to leave. All Joan attracts are has been and weirdo that you never heard of. The commercials were on more that her show. E is getting much better. Ryan is such a putz which is always good for a laugh. He showed his Calvin's. Loved all the other hosts.
PS I still thing Kathy Griffin would work on a Red Carpet show, but Star Jones destroyed that opportunity.

">Just horrific!!, that is all i can say, gives me a bad taste in my mouth when i watch Joan Rivers, is she drunk when she announces or is her skin stretched so taut that she cannot speak. Come on T.V Guide you can do better than that. America has millions of talented people that can do a better job!!, U know i have to pay my cable bill, and cable dont come cheap, so give me my monies worth..

I had a teensy feeling that I would not be the only one DISGUSTED by Joan Rivers. I, too, went to another channel for Oscar coverage. WHO in the world is keeping this sicko on TV? I found a real comedian in one of the other blogs, asking if she was drunk or just slurred her words because her skin is stretched so tight ...LOL!!! That made my day. I always think she has said or done something to put her as LOW as a person can go and then NOOOO ... she surprises me again. My FINAL point with her was what she said at the beginning of the Oscars about Anna Nicole. To attack a dead person ... come on Joan, just how desperate are you? When you die they can do a new version of "Night of the Living Dead" because you already look dead, like a gallon of wall spackle is on your face. I try to understand that at your age you could possibly just be senile, so if you are your daughter is just as disgusting for allowing you to say what you do. I heard that your husband committed suicide ... no wonder ... ANYONE who had to wake up and look at your face everyday would kill themselves. LOL ... doesn't feel so good, does it MS Rivers?

Most of the replies to the original email are right on the money. Melissa is nothing like her mother and I like her, but I can't abide Joan Rivers. She's vulger and rude. If I had small children, I'd make sure they didn't watch her. Thanks for getting rid of this person. I'd say more, but the other replies have pretty much said it all so there's no sense in repeating what's already been said. Thanks for replacing her.
