The Chuck Screening

Yvonne Strzechowski, Zachary Levi and Adam Baldwin by Chris Haston/NBC
I had to stand in line for over an hour, then sit through the 24 panel while avoiding spoilers (I watch 24 on DVD, so I listened to music and looked at the floor), but I was rewarded with a great seat for the Chuck screening and panel.

The show was described as The Office meets Alias, or The Bourne Identity meets The 40 Year Old Virgin. Chuck is part of the "Nerd Herd" at "Buy More" (yes, it's fairly obvious what the show is parodying), but he soon finds that his brain is full of national secrets when he receives an e-mail from an old friend. I'll avoid spoiling the show for those who want to wait, but I will just tell you that Chuck is a hilarious series from Josh Schwartz (The O.C.) and Chris Fedak. The show stars Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strzechowski, Joshua Gomez and Adam Baldwin, who was clearly the fan favorite, though he didn't appear at Comic-Con because he was shooting. The pilot is directed by McG.

The show will include "missions" as well as stories based around "Buy More" and the people who work there. Looks like a winner to me!

As someone who has seen the pilot as well, I have to agree with your assessment.

Chuck is terrific fun. Now if it can survive, that would be very nice.

At worst, it should serve as notice that Zachary Levi is a real talent.

Capt. Average, love the homage to Captain Awesome. I have to agree that its one of the best fall pilots. Aside from Pushing Daisies, Chuck is poised to win my heart over.

If anyone's interested, I posted the audio from the Comic-Con panel over on my site: www.duckydoestv.com

It's a little muddy and you can hear me scream like a school girl, er boy...

LONG LIVE CHUCK!

I really enjoyed the pilot too! Great mix of humor and action, plus a fabulous cast (some old favorites and some new faces).

Sorry people, but I don't share your enthusiasm over Chuck.
I watched the pilot (thought in the confort of my home, not Comic con) and I was very unimpressed, even dissapointed. It's a show that can't really rise above the cliché ("enemy of the state" and various predictable "nerd" jokes), directing wise it's bordering on amateurish, special effects are pathetic and so is the acting.
I will not be watching Chuck this year. What a waste of my time!

NorthernStar were you watching one of the much buzzed about pirated bittorrents? I've watched the pilot 3 times (offical screener and then at comic-con) and the directing is sharp and lively, the special effects are limited to the room with the secrets for the most part and the acting is spot on for comedy.

It's funny that we all see these things differently. Oh well, Chuck kicks butt and I'll be watching, hopefully so will some others.

At Comic-Con the cast and crew got a standing ovation so that means that the 1000 people who saw the pilot that day are on board. With luck, Chuck will prevail.

NorthernStar - I didn't care for it, either, and that was a disappointment. I usually can manage to sit through anything, but 15 minutes was all i could take. I put myself out of my misery at that point and put something else on!
