September 20, 2006: To Live and Die in Princeton
I'm no fan of the rat, but the opening scene on tonight's show was just gross. I'm not usually squeamish but I had just finished dinner. Was it really necessary to see Ezra Powell (Joel Grey) cut into a live animal and then later learn that the remaining rodents had gnawed on him? Despite that, I liked this episode directed by Laura Innes of ER (and might I add that I am anxiously awaiting that hospital show's premiere on Thursday).

Gee, it took Cameron to kill a patient for House to "be proud" of her. Something so wrong there.

This was a great episode, with House doing what he does best - being the doctor and skilled diagnostician. But, he was also an excellent teacher here, finding a way to teach Cameron how to do the right thing for the patient. Let's hope Cameron learns it.
On the superficial side, it was great to see Cuddy in some decent looking clothes for a change, but Cameron's messy mop top must go.

Euthanasia is a tough subject. I think the show handled it well.

I thought they handled it well but I was disappointed House didn't help him die and kept him conscious. I'm glad Chase stepped up ready to help the dude. I hate Cameron. I really do. This was prob the first ep where she did something deserving commendation.

I loved this episode. I agree i found it a little disturbing that it took Cameron to kill someone for House to be proud of her. How do you think he figured that it was Cameron that had killed him?
Also I found it very interesting that when Cameron showed up to the room were that girl and her father were at he told her it was her young"protege", also disturbing that he might give this girl a time or day.

Um, is anyone else irked by this new TVGuide.com set up? Why is it that I can't figure out how to access the full summaries on half these blogs?
Grr.

I too hate this new setup.... but as for accessing the other half of the blog, I don't think there is another half... this might be the worst House epidsode blog I've seen.

Please don't blame Rhoda, there was a technical difficulty that caused the later half of her blog to be eliminated. We're working on restoring it. I read it this morning, pre-technical issue, and she had some interesting insights.

While Cameron is really annoying at times, there's just got to be stuff in her past (I believe her grandmother was brought up in a previous episode), that the writers haven't addressed yet. On Infanity, they interviewed Jennifer and she described her character as someone who's experienced a lot of loss in her life. I wish the writers would get off their a*&es and address this so Cameron doesn't continue to be such a pariah.
That said, this episode kind of sucked. It wasn't even the main subject matter that bothered me most. Although after finding out what this scientist did, I would have let him suffer to the bloody end.
What really turned me off wasn't Cameron and her issues, but this whole slutty blond Lolita storyline. I too find it disturbing that House would give her the time of day. Chalk one up to the male ego, I guess. The fact that she would go anywhere, (and with her father?), with her thong hanging out like that speakes volumes about this girl.
Cuddy was actually dressed decently and so was Cameron, although I have to say, I have seen those much bemoaned puffy-sleeved blouses in the "career" sections of reputable clothing stores. I agree with Rhoda that they have either been tweaking her hair to make it look better or I'm getting used to it.

Come on - House is just now dealing with the pain issue again in his leg and this beautiful young girl wants to play House (sorry about that)! Please remember that House has dealt with sexual issues before - anyone remember the prostitute? Now we have Cuddy and Cameron giving House the definitive 'NO'. Of course he is thrilled and a bit intrigued by this come-on by a forbidden little tart.
House is a male isn't he!!!

Ok, just something amusing I noticed, there is a part where House lifts up the blanket and says "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain." Seems like a nod to Joel Grey (the patient) who played the Wizard of Oz in the broadway show Wicked. Sorry, a little obsessed with House and wicked, so that was fun for me.

My apologies to Rhoda, thanks for the clarification Angel.
Still I have to say, the new format of this site bites. First of all the content takes too long to load and I'm on a T1 connection! Also I think it's confusing and poorly laid out. The end result has been me spending far less time on this site, which I'm sure is the opposite of the design intent. I used to read stuff about shows that I don't watch, to see if I'd be interested. Now it's difficult enough to find the shows I DO watch, I don't bother with anything else. I know this isn't House specific, but another thing I couldn't find is WHERE to register my dissatisfaction! So, if any of you TV Guide staffers want to forward this to the appropriate area.. my thanks to you.

Interesting episode. House is a complicated guy. He seems to walk the fine line in every ep. I think the pain is getting to him a bit. He seemed to be even meaner to his crew this week. I did find the moral issues discussed in the show fascinating. There were more than one. The right to die and also what the doctor did many years ago to those babies. I figured the younger girl storyline would get some people up in arms. But House is an older guy and he is probably flattered that a younger woman finds him attractive. And Lolita was a lot younger than this girl. Big difference between 12 and 17 1/2.
I also hate the new site design. I have to log in every stinking time. The design is also very confusing. I don't come here as often as I used to. It just gives me a headache trying to figure out the site. I also could do without that Grey's Anatomy video playing every time I go somewhere in the site. Very annoying. Jeers to the site designer.
