The Great Cappie
Whew, it’s been a busy couple of days, so forgive the late-ness of this post. After realizing that there would be no official TV Guide recap of Greek, and at the suggestion of coolio smallville.2009 a recap will be done!
Monday night’s episode was hilarious, endearing, and kept the sticky wheels of love triangles and long standing grudges turning.
The too sweet Lizzie is doing her crazy like only she does. The ZBZs are practicing their conversational skills at her behest and starting to drop like flies. Lizzie’s suggestion of starting a book club (and reading The Great Gatsby) has the poor girls groaning and thankfully Casey had the genius idea of throwing a party to lift everyone’s spirits.
Unfortunately, Lizzie has her own twist on it, insisting it be Gatsby themed and non-alcoholic. (No booze = yawn fest, in this universe and maybe mine…) Not to worry though after a brain storming session with Ashley and Cappie’s help, things are flowing smoothly.
The educational and non-alcoholic party is upstairs while the “fun” party is swinging down stairs. Then a wrench is thrown in the whole gig when the Dean makes a visit. Of course Lizzie invited him to check out a ZBZ party to show the new turn that they have made.
Things were looking bad at the party and the Dean was inches from heading down stairs to see all of the illegal campus activity. So of course it’s the Kappa Taus to the rescue, with Cappie front and center. The cover up plan was genius! Who knew plan B worked so quickly?
Cappie made the distraction by stealing the security go-cart, while the others quickly reformatted the basement to look like a book reading club. Casey’s quick thinking and the joined forces of the ZBZs and Kappas had everyone fooled.
Rusty convinces Calvin to meet with the Kappa Taus and everything seems to go off without a hitch. Those loveable Kappas were all open arms, not to mention ecstatic to potentially turn an ex-Omega Chi into one of they’re own. Alas, that doesn’t happen as Calvin feels that returning to Omega Chi would be for the best and he and Rusty agree to continue their friendship outside of the Greek system.
The ongoing “will they or won’t they” Rebecca and Cappie secret sexcapade is rolling along. I have to admit, I see Rebecca’s point. It’s obvious that Casey and Cappie have an undeniable thing and although Rebecca could be the sister of Damien she is still a girl who’s afraid to get her heart broken. There was the whole scene where Casey whips out a flask from under her dress and the romantic tension that sizzled afterward, but there was also the fact that Cappie took himself out of said situation to find Rebecca and asks her what she thinks about actually dating.
Can Evan be more a jerk? Except for the part where he sticks up for Calvin and asks him to come back to Omega and kicks out bigot Trent… That aside, he was the one to make the call to security to shut down the Gatsby party and his showdown with Cappie and Rusty still has me on the Kappa Tau side. (What’s the deal with Bing? Is that a nickname?)
Next week’s episode hinted at a jealousy Casey planning to shake things up on the Rebecca/Cappie front and Cappie and Casey talking about where their “relationship” was headed.
My Tidbits:
I really like Rebecca and Cappie together! He brings out her sweet side and she seems almost human.
Love Rusty and Calvin’s friendship.
This episode didn’t have enough Dale. Darwin Lied needs to make a come back.
Also loved/laughed at the scene where Cappie asks the lead singer of Plain White T’s if his loud band was still together and that if they practiced enough they would make it and be hugely successful.
“Free refreshments and girls! I mean there was a girl one time. I think it was a girl, I’m almost positive.” ~ Dale
“ Is your shirt backwards and inside out?” “I was…jogging…” ~ Casey and Cappie
“..and distinguished nothing but a single green light, minute? Minute? Probably minute, and far away…” ~ Beaver
“Let’s play, what would Frannie do?” “She’d make Lizzie cry.” “Yes and?” “Tie her up and leave her in a basement somewhere?” “Kappa Tau’s have a basement!” ~ Ashley and Casey
What did you think? Will Rebecca and Cappie survive? Will Casey get back with Cappie? What’s the deal with Evan? Bing?

On a side note, I wouldn't mind an Evan/Rebecca tryst. Yes, they already hooked up under the nose of big sis Casey, but I like this love square they've made.

I agree that Rebecca and Cappie are good together, he brings out a good side of her, and I think that she will help Cappie grow up a little. I don't mind that Rebecca and Cappie sort of have a thing, but I think that Casey and Cappie will eventually end up together.
I think that Evan is jealous of Cappie now, because of the kiss Cappie and Casey shared at the carnival in "The New Normal", and thats why he informed school security about the secret party.

i want Cappie and Casey back together eventually, but for now cappie and rebecca are ok. they bring out the good in eachother.
i wanna reach into my tv and strangle Lizzie everytime though. geeez shes annoying. hope shes gone soon.
oh and i loved when the dean was about to go downstairs and Ashleigh got in front of the door and said something about a restroom.
i dont understand how Evan can think its ok to cheat but then totally stick up for Calvin. im glad he is (sticking up for him) but it seems a little off.
anywayss thanks for the great recap caljo
