Whats up with Nicholas, Sam and Lucky?

Does Sam actually like Lucky now or is she still just playing him? I cant tell... sometimes i think she is just playing him but then she says something and it makes her seems like she cares about him.
and whats up with Nicholas? Why is he having these huge mood swings and breaking everything?
