Live Emmy Blog

11:02: We're in overtime. "I would say hi to my boys, but I can't remember their names," Patricia Heaton is saying. I'm with ya, sister.

11:02:30: 30 Rock wins best comedy. Poor Betty. Tina Fey thanks NBC boss Ben Silverman in advance for keeping them on the air for the next six years.

11:04: Cute, Tina just thanked the show's "dozens and dozens of viewers."

11:10: Tom Selleck's date looks bored out of her mind while giving The Sopranos a standing O for their best-drama win. David Chase is thanking all the musicians who worked on the show. Huh?

11:11: Chase is saying gangsters send their kids to school, and maybe this country is run by gangsters. Or something. This is why writers are writers and not speakers. And on that note, I'm gonna shut up and go look in a mirror. Now that I'm not an Emmy-blogging virgin anymore, I wanna see if what they say is true and that I'll really look different.

Sorry, but while I enjoy watching Ugly Betty in the same way that I enjoy a piece of chewing gum from time to time (despite my TMJ tendancies), 30 Rock is a well-crafted comedy that deserved to take the trophy. I watch them both and enjoy them both, but 30 Rock DESERVED its win tonight! Betty seems to me to be the type of show any high-school drama class could do (you should see MY scripts for "Gordon Hartford Gordon Hartford"!). Fun to watch, but not trophy worthy.

I'm watching the E! post-Emmy shows right now, and GAWD do I hate E!!! Their people seem to always be trying to ask insulting quiestions of their subjects, and--although sometimes it is necesary--most of the time it just makes me cringe on behalf of all of these artists who shouldn't--on THIS of all nights--have to suffer these fools gladly!

Finally, thank GOODNESS Britney didn't show up tonight! Since she has SO LITTLE to do with TV, her appearance on ths show would've been completely out of place...unless she's one of the many chicklets Ryan Seacrest has tried to use to prove he's NOT more than just a METROsexual.

As for Ryan's "hosting", I wish he and Clay Aiken would just run off together once and for all and find a love nest outside the media gaze, where they could each pretend the other is Brian Dunkleman...and leave the rest of us the hell alone!

You must not watch the Sopranos often. Very deliberate choices are made regarding the music used on the show. David Chase once remarked about much goes into finding the music for the show and one day, he should mention the musicians/bands that he selects, as they are an integral part of the show.

To add on to the previous poster, I think what you're confused on with the Sopranos music and David Chase's speech was he thanked all the musicians who gave the Sopranos the license to use their music on the show. He didn't thank the musicians that worked for his show. A totally different thing.
