Does anyone know if The Dresden Files was renewed for next season? I am so hoping for a season 2.

I saw the post wondering about renewal and then wondered that myself-I previously had no doubt it was coming back, it never entered my mind, I just thought it was on hiatus for its turn. SO...I went to Sci-Fi's site and looked around for news and saw this message below, so copied it for the current answer, I guess. I hope it's wrong.

This was posted today on Jim Butcher's website by SwordofCharity:

I don't want to cause a panic, but I monitor another forum. On it, Mr. Wolfe is credited with a post saying things are pretty dicey regarding renewal. If Bonnie Hammer is the decision maker, and we want to push, now is the time

I've been going nuts trying to find out if there is a new season of the dresden files. I hope with everything we are doing to get it renewed it will. Lets just keep doing our part to get the word out there and pray.

I have been tracking the renewal/cancellation of The Dresden Files myself. So far no solid news either way.

There is an online petition at
http://www.dresdenfiles.org/petition/

A fan has a website at
http://maenad.tripod.com/saveharrydresden/
where you can sign a guest book with comments that will be forwarded to those at Sci-Fi Channel.

They both suggest you send actual letters urging renewal of the Dresden Files to:

Mark Stern
Executive VP Original Programming
NBC Universal/ Sci-Fi Channel
100 Universal City Plaza
Bld. 1440, 14th Fl.
Universal City CA, 91608

And:

Bonnie Hammer
President
NBC Universal/ Sci-Fi Channel
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112

I sent letters to both. I have read on other forums that emails sent to them urging renewals just don't get read but get filtered out by software.

There has been a lot of discussion about the renewal or cancellation and reasons for such at the forums at the Sci-Fi channel website at
http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showforum=101

And, of course, Jim Butcher's website is at
http://www.jim-butcher.com/
and his site has a TV Renewal News topic thread in the forum section at
http://www.jim-butcher.com/bb/index.php?topic=3190.0

I certainly hope that The Dresden Files is renewed.

I do know that the DVD collection for the 1st. season comes out the first week of August. That will be nice.
I'm beginning to think it won't be renewed though and I don't understand why.

I've every episode and read the excellent books because of Sci-Fi...but this show is very uneven. I hope it comes back because it was finally getting its stride in the later episodes. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was cancelled. Its MUCH better then Painkiller Jane though.

Hi, Dresden Files fans!

We're down to the wire, and SCIFI is still trying to decide whether or not to renew our favorite show! The decision was supposed to be made a couple of weeks ago, and things are still up in the air.

The good news: I've just learned, thanks to devoted fan Ginger, that SCIFI has a Viewer Comments hotline where they allow viewers to leave a voicemail message with feedback about SCIFI's shows.

Let's see if we can fill that mailbox up with requests for a second season of The Dresden Files. If you've got a minute and can manage a quick call to New York, please dial SCIFI at:

212-664-3571

Tell them your name, and then leave a short, sweet message explaining why you want to see a second season of The Dresden Files.

Please keep it polite and positive -- the more positive comments the execs get, the easier it is for them to justify (to the network) spending money on a second season.

And please, tell your friends, post the number on message boards, mailing lists, and forums where Harry's fans might hang out. The more calls we can get in to SCIFI in the next few days, the bigger Harry's fanbase looks.

Thanks again for all your support of The Dresden Files!

Bon Johnston

I wish Jimmy could see this, I know he would put it on the show! I went to soapbox.msn.com and youtube and saw tons of clips from this project. It's real conversations with a homeless guy ALL from a comedic perspective! you won't believe how funny this is.

If everything works out with Edmonton in canada and they except the proposal to shoot The Dresden Files there. Their will be a season 2. Scifi decided to move the show. Everyone keep letting everyone at scifi know you want to see the show comeback for a season 2.

We fans have been actively campaigning for a 2nd season since the end of Season 1 in mid-April - sending untold numbers of letters and postcards to SciFi Channel NBC/Universal and Lionsgate, contacting the media, etc.

Despite these efforts, on August 3, 2007 Sci-Fi Channel stated on SCi Fi Wire that the show will not be returning for Season 2. We fans are heartbroken for the possible loss of our favorite wizard!! We do NOT want to lose this intelligent, wonderfully well-acted, well-written, & well-produced show – especially without any reasons being given!!

We’ve set up a NEW HOME 4 DRESDEN PETITION http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/new-home-4-dresden.html which in just 4 days & no promotion has over 478 signatures & comments asking for either a RENEWAL at Sci-Fi Channel OR A NEW HOME at a different channel/network for the Dresden Files!

We have also launched a new initiative aimed at the corporate balance sheets of series producer Lionsgate: the “WIN HARRY” RAFFLE running from 8/8/07 through 9/8/07! Tickets are being offered for just a $1.00 (US) donation each, to help support the campaign & for a chance at winning the complete Season One 3-DVD set of The Dresden Files. For more information & to enter the Raffle, go to: http://dresdencity.org/Renewal/Donations/Donations.html

We’re asking all Dresden Files fans – book or TV version - and everyone who would like the networks to listen to their customers, to sign the petition & enter the Raffle. HELP US SAVE HARRY & BOB!! http://dresdencity.org
