SPOILERS - Back when DZ producers still accepted scripts from unagented writers their main warning to prospective writers was to never pitch stories where Walt was killed off. So Walt's passing heralds a big shift in the DZ world. But be prepared for possible suprrises; perhaps Johnny's gifts grow as a result to the point where he can go back and rescue Walt, or perhaps the producers want to pursue the Johnny/Sarah angle more fully. And it could just be that Chris Bruno wanted to do other things. But I trust that the producers will do right by fans; the DZ cast and crew seem to be a tight knit bunch, so I'd wager it was a well thought out move that may yet have a cool twist further down the road.

I'm really sad that Walt has been killed off. The only redeeming factor is perhaps they will use flashbacks of newly created scenes that take place in an earlier time to keep him on the show. Of course, Chris Bruno might well do some other projects soon that will keep this very good and likeable actor out there so I can enjoy his work. If he's in a sitcom or back to daytime TV I won't be watching, as I'm not a fan of those kinds of shows. I just hope the writers make things interesting, because the team that produces this show, as well as Bruno who brought Walt to life, have done a very inspired job of creating a friendship with Johnny. The easy and cheap method most shows use is to create animosity between the characters. They didn't do that on DZ, which has made this show unique in every way. Imagine two close buddies who both care about the same woman, and the same two kids--JJ and Hope. I could easily suspend belief if Johnny's powers were able to find a way to time travel back and save Walt AND the good reverend...

I happened to see this, and couldn't agree more. In fact, I posted to Jumptheshark for this very thing. I happened to hear Walt had been killed off before I saw the first show, and haven't watched any this year because of it. They've lost this fan, and I had looked forward to the return.
