Roscoe Born Joins Days
Daytime vet Roscoe Born (ex-Tom, Y&R; ex-Mitch, OLTL; ex-Robert, SANTA BARBARA and many others) has been cast as Dean Robbins on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Robbins will have a connection to a current Salem resident. His first airdate is May 29.

He is always pure evil. I'm sorry I don't want anymore new characters right now we have talents vets getting little or no screen time and they keep adding characters?

Hey - if he is connected to Salemites, he might add to their screen time. I'm just pleased someone so talented is going to be on.

OK Cindy you look on the bright side I would love for him to be connected to Celeste I miss Tonya Boyd. Now that Lexi is back we need her Momma around.

Nothing against Mr. Born, because I have been a fan since he was Robert/Quinn Barr on "Santa Barbara", but I do not want any new characters. My one worry about Dena is that she is known to bring in new characters and ignores or gets ride of characters we love! If the new characters are going to help add to the airtime of our favorite characters, then so be it...however, I have my doubts...

I really am trying to look on the bright side here. Mostly for the sake of the show. I hope that isn't the case this time Stud and Corday continues to least micromanage about that.
I go to a board where someone who is evidently an 'insider' posts occasionally and this person claims the announcement should happen soon about how long Days will be on NBC. He/she has hinted that the contract is going to be renewed for a year beyond 2009 to allow Days to prove themselves in some way. He/she doesn't come out and say it, says he/she can't until it's official, but reading between the lines it's what it sounds like to me.

I wish they were casting him as Bill Horton. I mean, I know that isn't the kind of role he usually does. But with Lucas coming out and Kate on the prowl - wouldn't it be great to have Lucas's Daddy back?

Yeah, hiring the well known actors to play already established, but off canvas characters might be a better idea. For example, many thought Tamara should have been brought in as Sara Horton. When former Y & R star Jamie Lyn Bauer was cast as Laura Horton years ago, it was a successful move. I'd love to see a daytime vet tackle any of the following roles: Mike Horton, Marie Horton, Bill Horton, Eve Donovan, Melissa Horton, Jennifer Horton, Ernesto Toscano or Sara Horton.

Stud - I thought Ernesto was dead? Or am I confused? Now, I know on Days dead means nothing - or didn't in the past. I'm just hoping they stop doing that.

Ernesto is dead, Cinder, and I agree, I'm tired of dead evil-doers reappearing.
I'm also wondering what's up with all of these new characters? I realize that one of the problems with DAYS in the past has been that almost everybody on the show was related to everyone else, making the show on the verge of downright incestuousness. They do need some new blood, maybe that will make some of their children a little less dense in the brains department.
But seriously, I really don't think it's too wise to bring in so many new characters at the same time, I remember soaps I've stopped watching because everytime I would tune in, there were whole scenes with people I didn't know on screen. DAYS has always been one to know better than that, but nowadays, they are making me start to wonder about that.
