David Caruso Video Interview!

This is a 5 minute video interview with David Caruso from the German press (it's in English).

In it, David talks about CSI Miami, their trip to Rio, Horatio's love interests, and his feelings about the show around the world and in his life. Excellent interview. Our Thanks to KRoseLynn, who posted it on Topix, and Bennu, who posted it in News. (you guys are terrific).

Good Morning Dojo, thanks for the link to this interview. I think it was very well done and shows that Caruso is down to earth and very interested in what the viewers think and want. I thought it also shows that the character of Horatio is just that, a character that Caruso has developed (mannerisms, stance, head tilt, all the things that he is being dragged over the coals for) and not the person he is. I hope everyone takes the time to watch and sees the difference between Caruso the actor and Caruso the person. Thank you for posting this.

This is an OLD INTERVIEW from the German RTL Cable TV Network (which happens not to be German press.) I had to laugh about Caruso's statement that CSI Miami is part of the Brazilian culture. How stupid and atrogant is that? But then, caruso's Interviews never make a lot of sense.

I also might add, that "the woman from the Middle East" Caruso refers to is SONJA, the terrorist (this is an interview for the season 5 DVD). It has been aired some time ago. Old news.

Since it related to "Rio" and their time in Brazel, it's to be assumed that it's an older interview. I, for one, have never seen it and I'm sure others haven't either.
That having been said, CSI Miami HAS become part of Brazil's culture. David's statement was on the mark.
Thanks, Dojo. Good video.

....CSI Miami HAS become part of Brazil's culture

It is just a TV show.Ridiculous. But then Caruso's interviews (they few he is asked to give) are always a bit odd.

"CSI Miami has become part of Brazil's culture", said David Caruso in the video interview.
Why would anyone take issue with that statement? Clear and simple. Tremendous fan base in Brazil.
Are some of us looking for things to nit-pick? Seems acutely childish to rap on such a inane comment.

On the contrary. A tremendous fan-base (which hasn't been proved so far. We ONLY have Caruso's word for it) is something different than actually being a part of the Brazilian culture.
Odd wording. But then most of Caruso's interviews are.

We can't speak to the 'Brazilian culture' comment except to say that, judging from the responses to our independent blog, we would guess CSI Miami (and David Caruso) enjoys immense popularity in Brazil.
We found David's comment in this regard to be 'on target', not odd in any way.

Always depends on which side of the fenceyou are on. There is a huge difference between a "huge fan base" and a "cultural influence/part of the culture".
There are other TV-shows with a huge fan base around the globe too. But none of the lead actors would go so far as to blabber in an interview (which is only broadcasted on the homepage of a German Cable TV channel, but never on TV) about "cultural influence".

Kind of ironic
that Caruso is more popular in a third world country than at home. LOL.

All of BRAZIL IS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY??
Better not tell that to the people in Rio. The balance of the country for sure has not yet emerged from 'Third World' and aren't aware of tv. That wouldn't be true in Rio.

I think that it is safe to say that Rio is only a very small part of Brazil. Brazil is mostly known for its once great soccer players and models.
I think it is the Hispanic element that provides the show with a huge Brazilian/Latin American fan-base. I'm still adamant that a simple TV-show can't be a cultural influence for any country. Bad choice of words.

This is a great interview. Thank you for sharing. I have often wondered why Caruso does not make any appearances on the late night circuit. I have never seen him on Jay Leno, Letterman, etc. Also, does anyone here know the definition of "atrogant"?

Caruso on Letterman, Leno and Co? Ridiculous. If there actually was any interest in having him as a guest on one of those shows they would have invited him long ago.
