David Caruso: The Screwdriver!
> Not only do we plagiarize; we also paraphrase those ideas when we use them. Our gratitude to the unknown blogger who gave us this one and our apologies for not remembering when and where we saw it. The gist of it is that watching CSI Miami and David Caruso is "like eating a Sunkist orange and discovering a shot of vodka in the middle". A yummy analogy, in our opinion. In last week's double header, the second episode opened with Horatio Caine taking down a small army of Mala Noche in Brazil, without a scratch, and returning to Miami in the next scene. Remarkable, you say? Not so much. We won't address the oddity of those who are looking for realism. That's been done to death, by us and by others. It's fiction, folks, get used to it. The 2 parter was well received in most aspects, all discussed ad nauseam elsewhere. Many complaints centered around Horatio's "above the law" attitude and seemingly cold-blooded method of enemy destruction. The review lines of demarcation; one was gender based, the other age based, as you might imagine. We're fully cognizant of David Caruso's focus in his creation of Horatio Caine. We don't always agree with it; we never once, however, recall him asking for our advise. The creation has had its impact; that was his intent. It causes discussion. It brings out the pros and cons; by reviewers, bloggers, workers at the watercooler, teens and tweens, swooners. He's not particularly interested in whether we like him personally; only that we accept the character he portrays. The mere fact that any scripted show in today's world has the power to shock is testimony to the writers, directors, and actors. We appreciate that facet of the show, although we prefer the screwdriver analogy to the terminator tactics, which we've used here. And, now I'm thirsty. One screwdriver, please; double shot, with pulp! http://dojodabbles.blogspot.com http://community.tvguide.com/forum/Csi-Miami/700011884 http://community.tvguide.com/blog/Dojos-Blog/800056801

All right! You've found me out. I'm sure I fit right in the female geezer group. I didn't like the opening scenes. Love Horatio but that was too much. The rest of the double decker was terrific for all reasons stated by sane reviewers. Now I'm thirsty, too. *** clink glasses ***

I'll drink to that! Double shot with pulp? Who gets up with the kids in the morning? How can you plagiarize from someone and not remember who it was? Bad thief! Bad! Pretty good article, too. I agonize these things and you run 'em off in a couple of minutes. Life is not fair. I have a question. Do you read anything after you write it?

Important to remind viewers this is NOT intended to portray realism. Your reference to the "oddity" of those wanting reality is absolute. It's fiction. The crimes, the evidence, the time frames, the lab, the Hummers, the cleavage and spikes and, above all, the persona of Horatio Caine. IT'S ALL FICTION.
