CSI Miami: SAG From Our Laz-E-Boy!

As predicted, after 4 hours of discussions Wednesday, a stalemate has developed between SAG and AMPTP. BIG SURPRISE! According to TV Guide/Today's News, an agreement is expected Monday, after SAG has yet more time to 'parse' the "final offer" proffered by AMPTP. Prior to the voting results from AFTRA on Tuesday, July 8th? We think not!

If SAG accepts the AMPTP offer, it'll be due to their perceived inability to muster a 75% strike authorization vote from its members. The longterm result of that decision will create a ripple effect through the industry in coming years.

SAG leadership has promised they would NOT accept what they call insufficient consideration for media diversities as provided in new AFTRA, WGA and DGA contracts.
A ratification vote of their agreement by AFTRA members, which is expected, diminishes SAG's position. They may have little leverage left. That doesn't bode well for actors or their SAG leaders.

These 2 links (TV Guide/Today's News and Variety) explain the situation as it stands for the weekend.

Have a Happy and Safe Holiday!

I saw your response to Matt's topic yesterday. "Poorly executed" is right. Deceit in any form or for any reason must be perfectly executed to be successful.

That comment applies to far more than just SAG.

I haven't read this till now. You don't have much faith in the talks, do you? I would hope you're wrong, that negotiators will settle before the 8th.
A strike will cause more havoc than we experienced last winter with the writers.

I also hope I'm wrong. It'll be interesting to see what develops on Monday.

Probably not before Tuesday.

Please, not another strike. Those poor people who work for the studios can't take another hit like the writers strike. Please settle this.

It really is quiet this weekend. Not even a whisper if there's any discussions about "the offer".
