CSI Miami - Quo vadis?
Now that season 6 - which turned out to be abysmally bad - is completed many of our readers have been asking what to expect from the show when it returns in autumn.
WE have seen the continuous decline of the show - be it the writing, editing or acting.
While we are ready to accept that there is a certain weariness in playing the same character for six years. However, what we have been presented with during this past season borders on the ridiculous.
In the beginning they presented us with Kyle, HoCaines illegitimate off-spring. Conveniently, the kid is already 16 and thankfully we are spared the disturbing image of HoCaine pushing a pram.
The storyline never got off the ground properly. We are "fed" a few facts here and there, but no solid background story.
There are a few awkward moments between father and son (Caruso/Ellingson) which are neither fish nor flesh. Later we are introduced to Kyle's mother Julia Harmon (played by Elizabeth Berkley who has the charisma of a advertising column) who looks far too young to be the mother of a teenager. She must have been barley legal when HoCaine knocked her up. There is next to no chemistry between Caruso/Berkley and their scenes together are an agonizing battle of very bad acting by two very very bad actors. We hear, they are planning to carry on this ridiculous storyline during season 7. We can't wait.
At the beginning of season 6 we were promised that Calleigh Duquesne/Emily Procter would get a few hot moments with a new lover. Well, we are still waiting for those "hot moments" to happen.
Okay, Calleigh was given the chance to shine in episodes "Stand your ground" , "Ambush" and "All In". It was then when we realized that the Southern girl with the Mickey Mouth-voice from season 1 and 2 has turned into some kind of tough-as-nails-Barbwire.
Ryan Wolffe/Jonathan Togo got handed the sh*t-card every other episode - if we liked it or not. Speedle's replacement wasn't very popular with his fellow CSI mates this season. He got snubbed by Natalia Boa Vista, Calleigh or Eric regularily. Only HoCaine - superhero/counselor/supercool boss/God - seemed to cut Wolfe some slack. He even conspires with the on/off-team member to staged his own death....
The biggest change however - now, who is really surprised??? - took place with HoCaine. Once a crusader for justice the pale redhead in a Hugo Boss suit and Silhouette sunglasses turned into a mass-murdering ("All In") suspect-beating ("To Kill a predator"), witness-tampering ("Inside Out") bad guy.
HoCaine beats them all. Nothing can beat HoCaine. It is not exactly clear when the weakest child of the CSI franchise turned into a comedy...
We already had our say on this seasons disappointing final episode "Going ballistic". However, we like to add that we expected that they would show HoCaine fall to the ground/being hit by the bullet in slow motion. At least, something more ambitious then we actually were shown. We were surprised they didn't film his shooting in Matrix bullet time format.
Last but not least this season we had an eclipse of the sun, a vaporizing gun, HoCaine extradited to Brazil in the morning and back to Miami for lunch, Speedles resurrection and cyber-crimes.
The only thing left for season 7 is pompous HoCaine rising from the death and walking on water or both.

We most certainly hope to see a better character-development in season 7. Especially "HoCaine's family". - Kyle's character development is next to non-existent. Then kid is simply boring.
Or killing off the storyline alltogteher would be a very good idea. It never got off the ground anyway.
