CSI Miami: De Facto Strike Mode?

PhotobucketWe're hearing "de facto strike" and possible AMPTP lockout and "final offer" to SAG and SAG hasn't authorized a strike vote because they fear they don't have members support, yada, yada, yada!

How much truth? How much media hype? How much posturing? The current SAG contract expired yesterday. CSI Miami was due to BEGIN filming for Season 7 today. Where do they stand now?

We haven't heard of any lockouts yet. Nor have we heard of any settlement chatter. What we have heard is that CSI Miami has NO new episodes completed. In the event of a strike, we'll be in repeat mode for quite a while. Perhaps that's why we've seen only Season 5 reruns this summer; nothing from Season 6. Saving those in the event of a full-blown strike?

It's apparent the pressure is on SAG to settle for less than they currently are demanding, due to the economic residuals from the WGA strike. Also, AMPTP wants SAG to settle for basically the same contract as DGA, WGA and, most recently, AFTRA. SAG has said from the outset they wouldn't settle that easily.

TV Viewers and movie goers forget that most SAG members don't have the salaries or perks of the stars, either in movies or tv. Most are struggling day-to-day, like all of us, never knowing when and if they'll work or be called back or get a second audition, etc. We haven't even addressed benefits.

Our only comment is an inclination to disavow AMPTP for trying to hold SAG hostage in the name of "a poor economy".

I read the links you post + a few others. I know less now than before I read them. Double-talk, all of it. The only part that rings true is that no strike authorization will be called before the results of the AFTRA vote. By that time it would be the end of July before a strike would occur.
Posturing is the name of that game.

By many people.

Is there any news on the Sag saga??? Or is there a stalemate? With technology surging and forever chsnging, one wonders how long any agreement can remain viable. It will require much forethought. But to do so little currently will not resolve the issue.
