May 7, 2007: Cry, Wolfe
Here comes the new Wolfe, same as the old Wolfe. Talk about giving someone the benefit of the doubt. After the list of grievances Calleigh gave early in the episode (just to add to my list from last week), it turned out that all Ryan needed to do was admit the error of his ways while he was live on the air, and subsequently apologize directly to Horatio. If only everyone were so forgiving.
The crime was a vehicle to serve up Ryan’s redemption, and as such, was mostly a yawner. As always, for those who missed it, the carjacker, Jim, wasn’t actually a carjacker. Sherry, the “victim,” was getting paid by his brother to get him out to her car so that said brother could shoot him, on orders from the drug lord. When Jim discovered his brother’s duplicity, the two got into a fistfight on Jim’s boat, during which Jim was knocked overboard. The drug lord decided that he’d rather have Jim dead than discover where the missing kilos of heroin were. Oh, and Horatio got to ride out in a Coast Guard boat. It was a nice change of pace from the Hummer.
But what about that man-trap? I so rarely get to say it, but thanks, CBS promos people, for not ruining the real shock of this episode. It was a little gratuitous, but I knew that cameraman had something bad coming to him after pushing Ryan to interfere with the crime scene. I didn’t know, however, that he was going to get a whole bunch of metal spikes through his leg.
We got a breather from the Eric-Calleigh flirtation this week. Sure, there was a little moment of Delko jealousy when he saw Ms. Duquesne on her cell phone all smiles and laughter (much as I am loath to admit it, it was actually a pretty cute scene), but there was no real action, probably due to the fact that this episode was all about Ryan.
No, this week wasn’t as strong as other episodes have been recently, but it still had its moments. Delko’s “nice shirt” comment was a cute off-the-cuff line that gave the feel of camaraderie in an office where that sort of thing is usually lacking. Wolfe was still doing his best Horatio, and for the first time in ages we had a great Horatio line: “Judge… jury… and executioner.” (It’s all in the delivery.)
There’s just one episode left before the summer hiatus, and as H might say, “Things are just… heating up.”

I thought that was weird, too, that all Ryan needed to do was apologize on air and to Horatio. And I'm still baffled by how Ryan didn't trust Horatio when confronted about the gambling problems. If the staff should know anything, it's that Horatio always has their back and will do what's right.
I'm all for Ryan cleaning up his mess with old cases, but I don't know (if I were the show's writer) if I'd have him back on the team. With a little work, I think he would do well on the news show and cover CSI cases with an outside perspective. At least he would be more likeable than the other tv reporter from previous seasons. Her name escapes me.
Eric better not wait too long to make his move on Calleigh.... LOL

Know why this show was a little weak this week? Cause it was all about Ryan! When are the producers going to figure out that he is a horrible actor?! This cool, H - wantta be he's trying to pull off is just rediculous. Please......please.....send him out to pasture! We've all had enough of this joker!

1) What good was it to fire Ryan if they bring him back the next episode anyway??
2) Did you notice Miss Orangina and Calleigh both wore "The white pants of justice".
3)Stupid dialogue. So Alexx and Calleigh are on the beach over the dead carjacker when Calleigh remarks that people are becoming a little to casual about seeing a dead body. The STUPID part is when Alexx says that "It's easier when decomp is at a distance". Yeah. That dead body has been decomposing for... gosh.... 2, MAYBE 3 hours. Seeesh...

Crap!!!!I thought we were rid of Wolfe. grrrrrrrrrrrrr Only Boa Vista to go !!!! yehhhh.
Looks like we are stuck with both of them. All my other crime shows are shooting my favorite detectives, why can't this show do it. I swear if it wasn't for the scenery I'd give this show up until they get some new people.

I don't get the Wolf, Boa Vista bashing. I don't have problems with either one of them, but it's differences of opinion that can make or break a show, because the cast has a lot to do with whether or not it's popular. Then too, sometimes the difference of opinion keeps people talking and controversy sells too. I for one hope CSI: Miami continues to give me the stories I enjoy, and wow do I ever love the scenery!

Now I have to ask - Is Wolf going back to being a cop - or is he returning to the crime lab? It was my understanding that Horatio had his back but he wouldn't be able to return to his team.
If there ever was a character that needed to be killed violently and without remorse it is Ryan Wolf.
Very weak episode. No cleavage, no Frank Tripp car destruction, too much Wolf!
The best part of the show was seeing Coby Bell (formally of Third Watch) as the drug lord.

And THIS IS MAY SWEEPS people, only one more episode to go...and they deliver a weak episode like that...obviously, Caruso nowadways is more interested in to let the world know that he dreams about being HoCaine than giving a decent performance...weak episode...

Did everybody get to see HoCaine's cheesy photo on the cover of TVGuide the magazine this week? Its the same pose that he does on TV. Does Caruso know how funny he is?
I, too, noticed the Natalia/Calleigh matching "white pants of justice" on the beach. I was thinking at the time that the wardrobe department must have gotten a bulk discount on white pants for this show. (I was also thinking how much I wish I could pull off being able to wear white pants like that, but that's beside the point.) ">

Wolfe said he knew he might not get his job back, but that he would stand by any case of his that got reopened. It has yet to be determined if he will get back on the force, but we all know he will. They'll just wait till next season and make him jump through hoops.
And I don't want to be on the other end of Calleigh's disappointment. Ooooh, the daggers she was staring at Wolfe in the studio! Dang!

how do we know that's it? i mean is ryan getting his job back?
I was surprised too with the man trap. It is so rare these days that everything isn't spoiled. It was a real surprise. However, what did the drug pushers think? that if someone got caught in that thing it wouldn't attract attention to the stash? LOL. Someone not immediately killed but screaming his/her head off and gushing blood? I would think they'd have served themselves better by simply posting a few guards to shoot people coming around!!
H's eyes looked really green in this episode. Not a bad thing!

It is almost the SAME PICTURE of Caruso they've put on the May 15-21,2006 issue of TV Guide. The jacket was a bit bluer then. Every year in May we get "blitzed" with half a dozen Caruso covers. I wonder why?
He is taking himself way too seriously. I doubt he knows how creepy he sounds when he tells the world that CSI Miami let's him be more than he ever could be in real life. I honestly believe Caruso/Caine have metamorphosed somehow..

It's amazing how many professional writers are unfamiliar with the word "loath." Not particularly a dig at this blogger--it really is common. I think you see it wrong more often than right.
I have to admit, I was kind of hoping this plot was actually leading to Ryan being dumped from the show. Even when he's supposedly being humble and sincere, he comes off as a pretty big jerk. Delco's shooting has been working wonders on him, but a similar trauma would be a little obvious for Ryan. Now it looks as though we're stuck with him for the foreseeable future.
