Sara's Departure - speculation
I think I've figured out the storyline for Sara's departure. Her mother is diagnosed with an incurable illness, Sara is notified and takes her out of the psychiatric hospital to care for her back in their old hometown. This is done because Mom will be more comfortable in familiar surroundings. This leaves the timeframe issue of Sara's absence up to Mom's state of health.

That would be good too, the majority of the fans want a feel good story though and some assurance of their romance. I mean they live in Las Vegas, how hard could it be to get a marriage license. Fans would be so happy if Sara and Grissom marry and the Sara could go and look after her mother or transfer out for awhile. Then the show can focus back to forensics and science. It would be suicide for the writers to replace her or kill her off the show! I can't wait until next week which is supposedly her final appearance, so make it a good one or my interest in the show will stop. I will be inclined to purchase the DVDs up until Sara leaves.
