October 5, 2006: No Brainer
As many of you already know, I'm more of a fan of one or two cases that take the entire show to solve. I love all the intricate details of the case and the mystery surrounding the evidence and I usually hate the episodes where things come too easily for everyone involved. For once though, I think the quick and relatively easy worked for me.
To start, I was pleasantly surprised the show wasn't all dead bodies talking to me. I was at least expecting them to narrate the crime scene but it's great they didn't. I liked the whole hey neighbor, here's why you're talking to me type of thing. The four stories were kind of interesting as well.
With the first story about the cop being drowned in the bathtub the thing that stood out most to me was the fact Grissom had to tell Catherine to use the partials to get a full fingerprint. Really? After all these years on the job, someone had to tell her to combine fingerprints? I find it really hard to believe that she didn't think of that herself.
Now in the story about the woman losing her brain over a cliff I wonder how Warrick immediately thought someone stepped on the woman's hand to break her pinky. The lady just had her brain fall out the back of her head and had marks all over her hands from trying to grab a hold of the rocks and yet Warrick thinks the little finger wasn't caused by a shoe? In this case, maybe that observation was because of his tenure on the job but a rock breaking the finger seemed to be the logical thought at the time. (As usual, It's good I don't work there.)
The third one was a random crime. That doesn't happen very often on this show. Usually it's a struggle to find motive for a killing. But here, the guy smoked some weed dipped in embalming fluid, went nuts and stabbed a random guy at a gas station.
Finally, I love the idiot who killed himself with the chainsaw. Cutting up his ex-wife's furniture, his buddy tries stopping him, so he turns around with the chainsaw flailing and cuts off the buddy's arm. Then he can't even control the dang thing and it recoils back into his own chest. I'm a dolt when it comes to tools, so maybe I'll think twice now before picking up a chainsaw.

I think Cath had to be reminded about the fingerprint because she's still shaken up over everything that happened last week. And as a left handed person I am never using products that aren't made for lefties anymore.

Was it just wishful thinking or did they not straight out say that Sam is dead?
We did see that Tina is still in the picture (for now) kinda.
I enjoyed the episode but was very bewildered to see Steve from Sex and the City be a bad guy.
Really looking forward to next week's epi from the previews.

Sorry to have to say this but I didn't like this ep. it was to much like 5th seasons 4x4 ep. I kinda liked Nick's case. Dear CSI, I thought you said that the show wouldn't turn into a soap. What is with these GSR scenes! We get it. Grissom and Sara are together. Stop showing us this every ep! Next weeks ep looks good!
P.S. No GSR please!

I am trying not to be too negative but last night episode was awful. I hate when they try to squeeze too much into one show. And I don't want this show to turn into a soap opera. A nice medium btw the crime scenes and getting to know the characters better would be appreciated on my part. I just so hope that CSI has not jump the shark I am trying so hard to be positive on that note. I love this show I would prefer it go out at the top of hits game and not when it is so tired it is lame. Writers you better work your magic for the rest of the season to make up for last night nightmare.

While last night's ep didn't have the charm of 4x4 I still liked what it did give us and I think it kept the show moving in the direction the writers want it to be moving in.
Gil Definitely helped Catherine out in my estimation because she is obviously still shaken up by what's happened to her. Marg showed that clearly with her great acting again last night and William P as usual, makes so much out of so little. How he approached her said it all. It seemed to say 'are you ok, i'm checking up on you' but it was all in a caring way.
The case with the Iraq Veteran dying so tragically and the tears in Nick's eyes was very sad. I think the writers are trying to go for a more serious note this year and that case was seriously sad. The sometimes random, pointlessness of death.
As to Gil/Sara I felt there was zero 'GSR' last night. Just one co-worker talking to another co-worker who never smiled at her and kept doing his job. I know Grissom is supposed to be grouchy but I wonder where William Petersen is trying to take this relationship? My guess is they are keeping it as wide open and non- commital as possible. It's defintely NOT all warm and gooey hugs and kisses. I actually asked myself last night what on Earth Sara sees in this stodgy guy who thinks her theories are passable to start with! LOL All the writer's wanted us to know was they met in San Francisco - which any long time fan of the show already knew or surmised. It seemed they wanted to emphasize that Sara remembers everything about how they first met and then Gil volleyed back that yes HE does too by reciting word for word the title of his Lecture to her. They also seemed to be hinting that perhaps Sara found him boring to start out with but her first impression was WRONG and she had to retheorize - which played into what he had been lecturing about. Some interesting writing there... but being a Gil/Sara fan I definitely didn't come away all mushy.
We also got to see a glimpse into why Gil does what he does. The sort of tenderness with which he regards the people (bodies) that come his way. They can't speak for themselves so he has to. It was really an important episode if you look at these types of things
As usual Brass is simply amazing at what he does. He makes the tiniest scenes that he is in shine. He's hysterically funny sometimes. Still not warming up to Sofia who I think either has an equilibrium problem or watched too many Westerns as a girl because she walks like 'the Duke' and I fear she'll need physical therapy on that back of hers if she keeps swaying her hips so hard. It's just wierd and doesn't work for me.
Given CSI has given us 100's of FANTASTIC eps so I can forgive this one's slow pace because I feel I know what the writers were going for and it worked. Sorry if this double posts cause it always does!

Not one of my favorite eps. I didn't really like the talking corpse gimmick. I didn't really think the cases were all that interesting. As a leftie I am certainly going to be more cautious around power tools.
It was good to see the Coronor out of the lab at a scene.

I also think it's only fair to give the writers of the show a certain number of episodes to establish Gil/Sara. It has been 6 years of eps like Primum Non Nocere, Play With Fire, Blood Lines, Nesting Dolls and Snakes. We've all seen the build up and I feel it very unfair to expect the writers now to do absolutely nothing with a storyline they've decided to embrace. I doubt Grissom will work every case with Sara - there were seasons in which they rarely worked cases together - but to think that having chosen to expose their relationship the writers will do absolutely nothing - which is what it seems some viewers want - is sort of ridiculous. Gil/Sara's 'relationship' has been part of the show EVERY year. In fact, it's been front and center in some of the most important eps so how can people begrudge the writers the mere 1 to 2 minutes scenes with them together? They have minimilized it to bare bones already. To expect anything less is to expect it not to exist and that's already impossible. After reading these comments I'm of a mind to hope the writers decide to embrace it fully - like any other relationship on any other show. Bedroom scenes, being at home together scenes, kissing scenes, fighting scenes. If you can't win for losing, may as well go for broke. I think the writers are handling it tastefully but with a tad too much apprehension about what a few select viewers want... and also about moving the character of Grissom too far out of his comfort zone. He's already out of his comfort zone if you ask me and I bet as the season goes on we'll really get to see that. So far we haven't. All we know are that Sara/Gil are dating and trying what they've been thinking about for years. I don't see what the uproar is all about. I'm sure this will be a running commentary throughout the season though

I thought the episode was ok, but did I miss something? Did they figure out who killed the Danny Bonaduce character last week. The last thing I remember is Grissom looking at the back of the photo. It was a doll's head as I recall. I thought that case was still open. Help!

The one thing I was disappointed on was that there was no closure on the second episode. It ended with Grissom looking at the picture. If there was closure, someone please let me know.

Actually, it was her middle finger that was broken, and I think it was broken in such a way that it made more sense for someone to have stomped it than for it to have been broken on the way down the cliff.
The Danny Bonaduce case is still open. He's scheduled for at least one more appearance on the show.
I thought the show was interesting, but I hope they don't do this often. The longer, more complicated cases are much more interesting and involving.

I thought last nights show STUNK!! Worst of the worst in the history of CSI. Maybe it's time for this show to ride off into the sunset.

Sorry, but I hated this episode. I guess in the same way I prefer a novel over short stories. This wasn't interesting. Too cut and dried and boring!!! Thought the chainsaw story was the best because of the comical aspects....even though two guys are dead and mutilated....still amusing.
Hope they NEVER do another episode like this ever again.
Plus to leave us hanging with last week's episode without even a mention of it, or a mention last week that indeed, it wasn't solved but would be an ongoing case, is ridiculous.
And this is a must-see show for me! If they keep on like this, it'll be a must not see.
