November 30, 2006: Toe Tags (Repeat)

Hey everyone,

Tonight's episode is a repeat from earlier in the season. This is the one where the five dead bodies talk. I'm reposting my commentary from that week. Feel free to comment here if you watch the show again and feel inclined to leave your thoughts. Next week is a new episode so I'll be back then to recap.

Recap from 10.5.2006

As many of you already know, I'm more of a fan of one or two cases that take the entire show to solve. I love all the intricate details of the case and the mystery surrounding the evidence and I usually hate the episodes where things come too easily for everyone involved. For once though, I think the quick and relatively easy worked for me.

To start, I was pleasantly surprised the show wasn't all dead bodies talking to me. I was at least expecting them to narrate the crime scene but it's great they didn't. I liked the whole — hey neighbor, here's why you're talking to me — type of thing. The four stories were kind of interesting as well.

With the first story about the cop being drowned in the bathtub the thing that stood out most to me was the fact Grissom had to tell Catherine to use the partials to get a full fingerprint. Really? After all these years on the job, someone had to tell her to combine fingerprints? I find it really hard to believe that she didn't think of that herself.

Now in the story about the woman losing her brain over a cliff I wonder how Warrick immediately thought someone stepped on the woman's hand to break her pinky. The lady just had her brain fall out the back of her head and had marks all over her hands from trying to grab a hold of the rocks and yet Warrick thinks the little finger wasn't caused by a shoe? In this case, maybe that observation was because of his tenure on the job but a rock breaking the finger seemed to be the logical thought at the time. (As usual, It's good I don't work there.)

The third one was a random crime. That doesn't happen very often on this show. Usually it's a struggle to find motive for a killing. But here, the guy smoked some weed dipped in embalming fluid, went nuts and stabbed a random guy at a gas station.

Finally, I love the idiot who killed himself with the chainsaw. Cutting up his ex-wife's furniture, his buddy tries stopping him, so he turns around with the chainsaw flailing and cuts off the buddy's arm. Then he can't even control the dang thing and it recoils back into his own chest. I'm a dolt when it comes to tools, so maybe I'll think twice now before picking up a chainsaw.
