November 16, 2006: Double Take
Okay, so I'm going to need your help with this one. "But Dave, why would you need my help writing your blog" you ask? Why? Because I didn't get it. It's as simple as that. I could lie and write something up that I think gives the impression that I knew what I was talking about and then all of you guys would see right through that. So instead, I tell the truth. I didn't understand this episode at all. Well, I did get the last 5 minutes. This reporter feels he'd be exposed by his boss for fake journalism so he kills her only to see "her" later and kills "her" again (in reality it's her twin). I also got the commericals. Nothing hard to understand about them. But take that scene and the ads out and I was lost for the rest of the hour.
Here's what I do know: 1. The only person who really knew both twins existed was their mother who gave them up for adoption when she got put away. The twins didn't even know the other half existed.
2. Dr. Robbins had a twin that died while still in the womb. His mother thinks he became a coroner because he spent "so many days next to a dead body."
3. In order for lab tech Mandy to give out important info to Nick, he must loudly sing Barry Manilow.
4. Greg's favorite part of any bedroom search is "the naughty drawer."
5. I couldn't tell if the side shot of the desk was trying to indicate it was tampered with, but if that wasn't the case then that was the worst desk lock I've ever seen.
That's all I got. The rest of the story line for the double murder was an absolute vague mess to me. Was I just having one of those days or do you also think the same thing? If you understood the whole episode feel free to school me on it.
Until next week, friends.

Can someone say brilliant?? Thoreau's 'Walden' and a made up crossword puzzle answer in the form of 'Misanthrope' (which apparently means hater of mankind)! I fear Sara has got Grissom pegged. Poor guy. He's just incapable of a 'normal' relationship I guess. He'd rather sit on his pumpkin all alone than be crowded on a velvet cushion. Looks like Sara might be realizing 'waiting' for Grissom, either just waiting period as she did for so many years, or waiting UP is not gonna change him so she won't do it anymore. I have to say this was a brilliantly written scene. BRILLIANT and sad. Poor Grissom. He is what he is I guess and anyone who loves him will probably feel a bit pushed aside. Didn't seem like he cared very much what Sara had been doing all day did it? The only thing I didn't like about this scene is that it shows once again that the writers on CSI can be inconsistent. When it suited them in Season 6 to have Sara/Grissom all lovey dovey acting out a duel, they went with it; when they wanted him making eyes at her across a table, he did; when they wanted him smiling at her conspiritorally or getting her lunch he did; but now when they need a rift between Sara/Grissom so Billy can take his sabbatical they bring out the REAL Grissom. One who'd rather bury himself in a book then in Sara. Literally. Wow. I can't even comment on the rest of the episode because that final scene blew me out of the water. The episode WAS a bit confusing but I got most of it; however, again, once that final scene played the rest of it went out of my head. I want to know what's gonna happen with Sara/Grissom. Grissom's gonna lose her and not even realize why. Typical Grissom. The writing tonight (the final scene) is exactly like Grissom. Brilliant but sad. Let's hope his closing the book means that her words at least got him thinking. Ok folks that's all from me. Sorry, but I'm totally invested in Sara/Grissom and I found tonight's final scene riveting. As usual, the scenes between Billy and Jorja are always the ones that haunt me.

Personally, I got it. I thought it was a great episode and didn't find myself confused except the end scene. Grissom and Catherine bet on whether it was a coincidence or not, boom, they separate the story to investigate each separately. Amanda's murder investigation goes as far as it can, which is cold, so boom they switch to Jill. They make you want to suspect the doc, because you could tell as soon as he asked for a lawyer that it was his special drawer, but with the cuffs on her side of the bed, you know he doesn't have the stones to have killed her. As soon as I saw the crowd emerge at Jill's office, I suspected the front and center homeless man, yeah he's got a hole, but he looks like he was going undercover in a Hollywood Blvd. dumpster. It was too easy after that. Photo tampering, knows she's obsessed, and her schedule, slam dunk, too obvious, but understandable given the time after dividing it like they did. Eating glass? Ugh! I doubt it was all her, a woman can only rely on her imagination so much. The last scene left me a little sad, just because he let Sara go home alone and it sounded like he would be spending his evening finishing his crossword. OCD, whatever, but why didn't he just take the puzzle and the book home? He obviously needed her help anyway. I didn't get a sense of underlying trouble, though, but what do I know. Now I do, so thanks! I was waiting for Sara to show up, happy that she did, got some confirmation they're at least staying together, only to hear there's trouble and he's going to take a break. Damned ulcer! Why does a sabbatical mean anything negative to their relationship? She's got vacation time, right? Away from the lab, less stress about getting caught etc. A problem between them never even occurred to me, so maybe I'm just naive, but I could live with that if I was right.

It looked to me as if he had a lot of that puzzle left to do! I just hope he realizes that he needs Sara and doesn't mess things up. Grissom, get a grip!!!

It looked like trouble in paradise to me. I've actually never been a Grissom/Sarah romance fan but have grown to like the little smiles, nice jestures etc. that the rest of the team doesn't see. I don't think that this means the end of Grissom & Sarah. I think this is just a way for them (the writers) to open the door for Grissom's sabatical. Every relationship has it's ups and downs and so maybe right now things aren't going so great. I noiced a few little things last week that made me see that they wanted to cause a rift in the relationship. (I wish that I could give you examples, but I don't remember details. I just remember the impression I got). But the writers opened the door to a relationship for a reason and I'm sure they aren't finished telling their story. It took them this long (Jorja said that the first time she read a script she knew the two would have a relationship) to put them together, why would they split them up in two episodes?
I actually thought this was a pretty good episode. I love when the writers have me guessing. No, I wasn't lost, but I did have a hard time trying to figure out who did it. I figured out early on that Amanda was killed because of mistaken identity (although at first I thought Natal killed her). Until I saw the photoshoped photos, I had no clue who did it. Because of the timing of the murders it only made sense that they both had been murdered by the same person. I also like the fact that the photographer had no idea he had killed Jill's twin sister instead of her the first time and thought that Jill had to be killed twice.

I have never gotten sucked in to the Grissom/Sara romance. I have never really felt it so don't care that it's possibly ending.
(This is not relevant to the episode per se, but as for the crossword puzzle, althought it was a clever way to throw the word "misanthrope" into the conversation, I froze the puzzle on my TiVo, and being a crossword addict, I couldn't help but notice how poorly constructed it was! No wonder Grissom hadn't done much of it...it was awful!)
As for the cases, I loved them/it. Seeing all of the things that the twins did in their lives that brought them so close to one another so many times, but never letting them actually intersect, was very cool, but sad at the same time. Their mother was a piece of work. Why would she even contemplate having her daughter Tiffany when her first children drove her to a loony bin?

Lame...its the old twins story, and so predictible. However, the "I won't wait up" line was interesting. No real character development from anyone...come on...lets get some real plots and some actual work instead of having about 15 people on a case and not really seeing any of them.

The thing about the scene with G/S is that there is NO way Sara saw the crossword puzzle clue from that far away and that fast. She obviously just made that whole thing up. If you look close there is no space for misanthrope going down on that crossword. She was basically saying 'you love solitude more than anything, you're a misanthrope, stop reminding me with Thoreau quotes.' Of course, now that I've looked back at the scene where he gets the letter from Williams it mentions Waldens Pond. So maybe the Book he was reading has something to do with the possible sabbatical BUT obviously Sara didn't know about it one way or the other and more is going on there. And yes, I noticed they were already starting the oh so predictable rift the past few episodes. In the scene where Gris got snippy with Greg and the next week Sara said "anyway" for no reason. That was wierd. What frustrates me is that this show has never really given us the relationship to enjoy on any level. It's always been misery (albeith Brilliantly written) with these two and now before it's even begun they are messing with it. All we can hope for is that there will be about 10 eps left in the season for them to resolve it ONE way or the other. It can't go on this way. Either he wants to make a go of it with Sara or he's incapable of it. Pick a side writers. It's too sad this way. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd actually be rooting for Sara to hook up with Greg. At least he'd appreciate her. BUT I can still hold out a little bit of hope for Grissom to 'lift his head up out of that microscope.' I have to give credit to Billy and Jorja - they never fail to rip my heart out with a scene but seriously if i told my BF I was sitting in court all day and didn't get called in and he said 'that sucks' and stuck his head back in the book I would probably have ripped him a new one. Sara handles it more on Grissom's level. That was the most creative doghouse insertion of BF I've ever seen. Misanthrope. LOL

I HATED this episode. It was totally boring and I knew right away it was going to be a case of mistaken identity. Been there. Done that. Anyone else feel like the photographer thing came out of nowhere?
Oh, the best part was that it was ALMOST a blissful, Sara-free episode - until the last few seconds. That ruined it. Why can't she be the one leaving the show for a while instead of Grissom? I didn't miss her tummy pooch or bad acting one bit.

I got the impression that Sara was going to bed, not going home. In my opinion, Grissom and Sara seem to be living together - any thoughts..?

You know I have to say that her saying "I won't wait up" made it seem like they were LIVING together. Then I said to myself. WHERE are they? I don't recognize that area. So were they in his HOUSE? or THEIR HOUSE?? COOOOOOL. So we almost missed that entire clue? I mean it sort of looked like a place of business but then again NOT and she wasn't hiding what she was saying so they must have been in their place. Awesoem. Oh and Jorja is the best actor on the show (I find her acting on par with Billy's and Paul's) My opinion of course, but she and Billy both convey alot with very little (they've had to) As to tummy poochs Billy has one too so they are a perfect match LOL. And my eagle eyed friend found misanthrope on the CLUES part of the Crossword so it was there! My other friend did ask me who the terrible blonde actress is on the show... guess she meant Sofia.

YEAH cause that's why the little scene of Las Vegas was put in there right before the scene to clue us into the fact that they were somewhere else, just like when they were in that bedroom in Way to Go. Hmmmm, so they ARE living together. BIG STEP. Oh well, I guess the house will get lonely when Grissom leaves unless of course, while Grissom sits on his pumpkin... Sara decides to say... sit on Greg. LOL Ah come on Gris, wise up!!

I didn't follow much of the episode. I was busy playing with my one year old. So, when whoever it was talking to the husband of Amanda..and he started crying...and the little boy when up to him and said "It okay daddy. Lets go home and see mommy." I just lost it. I burst into tears and had to hug my son. hehe.
The rest of the episode I was in and out. I did catch the Sara Grissom scene at the end. And to me too, it did look like they were 'home' and not at work.
