May 10, 2007: Lady Heather Returns

Hi all,

Dave Steed is still away enjoying his honeymoon, but I know last night's CSI was supposed to be a huge one, so chat away here in the meantime until he returns next week.

The episode was okay, but not the home run I wanted. I loved Sara's face as Catherine described Lady Heather to her and why Grissom's attracted to her. I was disappointed that there wasn't more about the GSR-LH triangle. The lab scene between GG and Sara seemed a little short. In the first two LH episodes, she seemed so strong and dominate and in the last two shows she's seemed cold and weak. If Lady Heather appears in CSI again, I hope the strong and dominate LH - the one that challenges Grissom - is the one we see. I liked the B-story, about the taxis, almost more than the LH story.
Looking forward to next Thursday, but I hope Sara isn't killed. I really enjoy Jorga Fox's character.

I'm beginning to not like Grissom much at all these days. Sometimes I feel he belongs with The Others on "Lost" because he only gives the vaguest, most cryptic answers to straightforward questions, as if he has a lot to hide. It's really beginning to bother me. Even his expressions of affection (love?) for Sara are rather cold and indirect. I'd like to see a scene with him and a shrink so we can finally get some answers as to what makes him tick.
How'd you like his explanation to Catherine about why he's building his own miniature: "It keeps my hands busy." What kind of answer is that?
I've never seen such poor character development over so many years for such a popular lead character. Why, I oughta...

So I never comment on here, but I wanted to get someone else's opinion. Did anyone else find it interesting that it appears Brass may know about Grissom and Sara? When Catherine was talking to him about Heather and Grissom's "relationship", he started to make a comment about knowing something "even better" about Grissom. But he was cut off before he could finish the statement. I found that somewhat interesting...

I noticed that Brass comment too where Catherine's grilled him for LH/Grissom gossip and Brass says he knows something even more juicy. In an interview at the beginning of the season, Billy Petersen was discussing the secret relationship betweem Sara and GG, and how Paul Guilfoyle asked the writers to be the one that solves it first. Perhaps he got his wish.

Thank you tellygirl, I wanted to make sure I wasn't making things up in my head while watching... Sometimes we all picture things in our head that we want to happen, when they really don't happen.

To answer another comment you had: I have to agree that I like Jorja Fox's character, but I don't know about her being around much longer. You know how things tend to falter in relationships once they are out in the open on these shows. And boy is everyone gonna find out next week!

First, a shout-out for those of you like me (and I know you're out there) who love Stargate SG-1... wasn't it great to see JR Bourne again? He played my favorite Tok'ra, Martouf. Hated when they killed him off.

Anyway, CSI. I am starting to love the interaction between Warrick and Nick almost more than the main story lines. They crack me up! Seriously, can we have more of them? My absolute favorite part of the episode was when Katherine and Sara were processing the scene and Katherine kept running on and on and on about Gil and Heather. Sara's face was classic!

As for the whole Grissom-Sara-Lady Heather love triange thing, well, I was seriously underwhelmed. While there were a couple cringe-worthy moments, on the whole I was unimpressed. C'mon, CSI, stop tip-toeing around and give us the good stuff! However, from what I hear, next week we will have it and to spare. I'm looking forward to it.

I really like the LH character. From the beginning she made Grissom a 'more real' person, if you get what I mean. She's had a rough last couple of episodes though, between the last one and what we learned in this one, it's no suprise she is going through depression.

I was worried that at the end that they got to her house too late and she had been killed. I'd miss her once a season (or so) appearances. Maybe next time she will be back to her old self.

Anyone else notice the difference in Gil they way he talks to and about LH? Sure seems like more than 'just friends' to me. Sara didn't act like she was jealous, so either she trusts him 100 percent, or she is saving that away and gonna have a long talk with him in private about it.

Anyone else think it's creepy that Gil is building his own miniture? For a moment I thought that this could be the best kept secret on TV and William Peterson was leaving CSI, so it was going to turn out HE is the Mini killer. Until he started working on it at work. Then I just figured he was doing it as a way to get into the mind of the killer, maybe influenced by stories of how Keppler did things?

Did anyone know that Warrick had a kid? I don't remember that. And the best lines had to be between Nick and Warrick about office relationships turning out bad.

I too noticed Warrick's comment about his kid. (Can you imagine the actor reading the script and going, wow, I have a kid!) That is one of the things I always liked about CSI; the show is about the work world, with only occasional glimpses into the life of the characters. This is why I am one of those not keen on Gil and Sara, however unpopular that opinion may be, it's how I feel. I prefer they stick with the work stories with only scattered personal interactions.

I agree with you Matt1158 - I love Lady Heather and the effect she has on Gil. Thing is, although I respect his opinion, I don't see anything wrong with Gil, like GarryB does, because his behavior is true to his character. If you read the description on CBS.COM he has really been a CSI since he was 8-9 years old. He lives and breathes the job and not so much the people around him. To me, it would take someone like LH to interest him because she is also something he has to try and figure out, search for answers, etc.

I also think Brass knows about Sara and Gil. Perhaps when he was battling for life and the others visited him, he found out?

I was wondering about the Warrick kid thing too, but then as I thought about it last night - I think he might have said kit comparing his field kit to the weight of the purse. "Man, this thing weighs more than my kit."

mpjmph you're right Warrick said "This thing weighs more than my kit" not kid. Okay so I missed the last 10 minutes of the show. I was taping it (I think my 3 year old struck again and stopped my tape from taping) and as I was sitting there watching my tape it stopped before I could find out who the killer was. Somebody please tell me who it was.

I think everyone knows about Gil & Sara but isn't saying anything. Right now it's just office gossip. Brass probably figured it out but doesn't think anyone else knows.
As for Gil creating his own mini...he is just trying to get into the mind of the other mini creator.
LH looks tired and worn out like she is sick or something.
Because Sara found that note that Gil wrote I think she trusts him 100% about LH.

I am so sick of Sara that it is taking away my enjoyment of watching what used to be one of my favorite shows. She is now placed right next to Horatio Caine as my most hated TV person! Maybe they could hook up?

Gotta love Grissom though - man he can still pull a rabbit out of a hat! Him and the Lady really make a great pair! I know that Grissom would never do anything that is not "regulation" as far as work is concerned but I think we all know that if Lady Heather retired from her current occupation - Grissom would be all over that!

I am in the belief that more of Warrick and lots more of Stokes and Sara
(Sui)Cidal can just go quietly into the good night:)

CSIgirl--the killer of the western theme park's security sheriff and abuser of Lady Heather was Jack Oakley (Joe Penny), the owner of the park. He was basically a sadist and paid LH to abuse her (she wanted the money to set up a trust fund for her granddaughter and was depressed/suicidal as well). The sherriff was killed for trying to blackmail Oakley since he was a witness to what happened between Oakley and LH.

So, Catherine finally called Grissom on his total hypocrisy and frankly I felt like smacking him too. So arrogant. Then of course, she let him off the hook 2 seconds later.

It seems it pays more to be a 'friend' of Grissoms than his GF. If I were Sara and I still had breath in my lungs I'd kick him to the curb. She deserves better than to try to commit to a man who is so inexperienced with women that someone he's met 3 times could have a hold over him so powerful he'd treat his current live in lover like her feelings don't matter, though really with Grissom that's nothing new is it?

Grissom has shown shades of louse and insensitive schmuck over the years but last night's ep cemented it in my mind. He's incapable of a NORMAL intimate relationship with someone who can love him in a healthy way and Sara should run in the other direction... AND FAST.
I was also massively bored by the B Storyline... which is one problem CSI has had many times this season. I couldn't have cared less about the B storyline though George did an admirable job of trying to keep it afloat. I don't even know WHAT was going on with that. Something about a cab driver and another cab driver?

Unfortunately, I also knew just by his build that the strangler was the big dark haired guy (the Father). I'm not sure though why if he paid 1,000,000 to kill LH - why did he stop? Did his son do something to stop him? I'm lost on that score.

I found it completely insulting to Sara that Grissom after years of watching her suffer and not care and simply turn his head and ignore it... that she had to listen to him describe LH as so strong and all that. Again, I would think Sara would figure out that it might be healthier to date Greg and leave Grissom to his mini models and dominatrix' (that he only has to see once a year).

Now for the bright spots. Brass completely Rocks! He's always so dead on accurate and snide. I love it. It seems he feels as I do about LH. A bad penny that keeps turning up and it seems he might even know about GSR. But wait, according to Billy on the early show he feels DEEPLY for both LH and Sara so now his tune has signficantly changed since 4 months ago. Guess even Billy *surprise* can tow the corporate line when he has to and say what they want him to say to facilitate future storylines. Storylines I won't be around to see.

So what'd I think of this ep? It absolutely blew chunks and I doubt I'll be watching CSI after this season. There's no loyalty to characters on this show. Lord knows they've been kicking Sara Sidle around for 7 years and they seem to show no signs of stopping. They did a poor job of fleshing out the GSR storyline and now it seems they are intent on making sure everyone knows that Sara didn't really mean all that much to Grissom after all. Nice. Poor Sara.
