Shame on you Dr. Pinsky
It is very entertaining to watch a bunch of has beens suffer to make a buck. It's become the staple of MTV, VH1, E, and A&E. However, the bottom has to be this show, Celebrity Rehab.
I come from a long line of physicians and alcoholics, so I kind of know what I am talking about. I went through rehab at 21 y/o after multiple screw ups. Somehow, I managed to finish college and then Med S. and 17 years later am a practicing Opthamologist and still sober. I worked my ass off for this.
Then along comes this comical show. It makes fun of rehab in so many ways that it becomes a joke in 2 ways. 1) recovery is very serious, and very anonymous. The actors on this show are putting profits before sobriety. 2) Dr. Pinsky. He joined Loveline while still a resident. The man is a joke. His claim to fame is that he looks good on camera and is board certified. Duh. All physicians are board certified. Oh, and he has his own practice. Paid for by being on Loveline and MTV. The man has a terrible resume when looked at professionally; unless your profession is acting.
I dont claim to be a moralist. I love South Park, Family Guy, etc... When you can poke fun at a everything, so be it and all is well. On the other hand, when you take a serious problem and belittle it without any sense of satire, irony, or purpose, you make fools of us all.
Sorry for the rant. I haven't been ticked off about something on TV since Sasquatch beat up Steve Austin in 1976.

Hey Eye Doc - Dr Drew is exposing people to the reality of rehab, not in any way making light of it. He is spreading the message to those people who need it and will watch it. In his show with Adam Carolla he was the sensible voice of reason. Of course its just entertainment for most people, but there are a few that will hear what they need to hear. So sorry that "The Real World of Opthamology" will probably never make it on the small screen. Ya might want to review those resentments, bud.

Geez richgriff, you complain about Dr. Drew as if you are jealous over him having the show instead of you the way your post is written. If so, that's too bad 'cause it can't be about money seeing as how much you make in the Opthamologist field. No matter what type of physician Dr. Drew is, the fact is he's still a board certified physician. Get over the fact that he provides a service to people who need it and if those actors want to sign a contract to be on camera throughout their treatment then that's their business. BTW good post weeb
