« What About Brian

January 8, 2007: The Rules of Life

Rule #1: Never interrupt a girl-on-girl story.

The holidays are over and the Brian drama is right where we left it. Nicole's still pregnant, Dave and Deena are still separated, and Heather's still a stripper.

Adam's not too happy about it, either. I can see why he's upset about Heather dancing, but it's hard to readjust your entire lifestyle because of one rash decision. Despite the fact that they don't know much about each other, I'm rooting for their marriage now. Figuring it all out along the way might actually work for them. The moment in the hospital when they were talking about having kids was really sweet.

I loved everything about Dave in this episode, but really... when don't I? But I'm getting tired of the Dave/Deena competition that's been going on. The entire drive to the hospital was making me nuts. But I knew it would come to that. How could Nicole say no to his delivery-room offer? "If I was in labor, I'd definitely want me with me." Aw! He does have a scar to prove he'll stick around during the worst contractions. And he was really there for her during the whole Angelo-was-a-cheater revelation. Dave's the super friend in this episode: looking out for Nicole, going with Adam to "support" Heather, telling Brian to call him so he doesn't do something he regrets on the company retreat.

Rule #2: Never go after your father's sloppy seconds.

Apparently that went out the window. How awkward was it seeing Brian, Bridget and good old Dad having drinks? But I have to say that when Brian and Bridget were going at it back in the room and she ends up in the closet: hot! We went from arguing to steamy in .5 seconds.

Things seemed to be wrapping up nicely for the Brian crew, especially appropriate music during emotional scenes, couples playing nicely and one cute baby named Bella. In the past hour, the drama changed quite a bit. Nicole's no longer pregnant, Heather's no longer a stripper, and Dave and Deena are still separated. Well, two out of three, right? But just when I was ready to applaud this episode for its sexy and heartfelt moments, my blood pressure rose a bit before the credits rolled. As Adam and Heather proved they really are "in this forever," I said to my roommate, "Now, I kind of don't want Marjorie to come back." And just like that, the drama took a turn and the past found her way back home. She may be shocked at what's happened since she's been gone, though. And you know what? I hope she is.

Rule #3: Don't think you can return to an old life and shake its world, which was doing just fine without you since you ran off and left it!

OK, so that's not exactly in Dave's Rules of Life handbook, but you see where I'm going with this....

I am totally ready for Marjorie to shake it up. Brian better not decide the like her again. I love him and Bridgett! I do hope Adam and stripper call it quits. He met her at a strip club - what does he expect? I am also ready for Deena and Dave to get back together. I'm alright with Dave dating the young girl, but I would rather he and Deena realize they really love each other. And I love Dave's rules . . .

In the preview (spoiler coming up...) you see Deena and Marjorie having dinner.. and in walk the cute couples -- both Brian/Bridget and Adam/Heather -- on a double date, who would've thunk it? ;)

I disagree with you, monica5675, because I really enjoy seeing Adam and Heather happy together. Rachelle Lefevre is amazing, and I love her on the show. I couldn't care less about Brian and his daddy's sloppy seconds. :)

I'm w/ Monica..I want Heather & Adam to break up. I'm not feelin the deal w. things as they come. They still barely know each other!! When they were talkin bout havin kids and when she quit strippin...all I could think is I cant wait for Marj to come back. Lo & behold at the end...she's FINALLY returning! I dunno if she'll actually break them up but she will shake things around and I cant wait to see what happens.

I absolutely love Dave..what a sweetheart and awesome friend! I kinda dont want him back w/ Deena bcuz she doesnt appreciate him enuff. Mayb that will change.

Brian goin aftr his dad's seconds is real nasty if u ask me. I mean come on Brian there's gotta be tons of women out there..why sleep w/ sum1 that ur dad done been all over..ICKY!

Rule #4: Never go to the strip club where your wife works, thinking that it won't be uncomfortable.

I've been a fan since the beginning, but for all that happened here, this was disappointing. The Dave/Deena thing devolved into standard sitcom stuff, and the idea of Brian's dad blocking him was a little ridiculous too. I'm glad most of these things moved on though, even though I'm not crazy about alliterative names (Bella Barzi?). I must add this though - every time Krista Allen is on the screen, my TV practically melts.

I like Adam and Heather. I think they are a sweet couple. I think what they have with each other works. I hope dingbat Marjorie coming back doesnt ruin them. That would suck.
And Brian and Bridget = gross. Eww. I don't even like Bridget. There has to be someone perfect for Brian out there - wish he'd move on.
Dave is an awesome friend. Deena is stupid for not seeing what a great person Dave is. And her stupidity is what started the demise of their relationship.
I'm glad Nic finally had her baby. That seemed like the longest pregnancy. haha. I'm also glad that Dave grabbed the wrong bag. It was nice to see Nic forgive Angelo and not be angry with him anymore.
I liked not having Marjorie in the picture - not glad to see her back.

Rachel LeFevre is my new favorite actress on this show and I heartily disagree with anyone who does not root for the union between her character and Matthew Davis. How original for once that instead of the usual "will they or won't they" story, we have a union that has already been "cemented," which we get to watch playing out every week as these two people get to know each other. Awesome. As to Sarah Lancaster's return, I think her character was always meant to ultimately end up with Brian and let's face it, regarding Krista Allen's character, can a relationship really last between a person and someone that slept with one of their parents! Ew. Sloppy seconds indeed...

I hate Marjorie and I hated her as Madison on Everwood. This actress has a monotone and is just not very good. Why is she on so many shows?

welp..I'm still playin the "will they or wont they"..in regards to them stayin married. Just cuz there doesnt seem to be much effort in them getting to know each other and establishing a foundation for their marriage. And I just dont like Heather lol..i dunno cant explain it.

Tho Marj was a bit triflin..I cant help but like her. Hey at least she aint marry Adam and have an affair. It dont make it right but at least she got out of it b4 she made another huge mistake. I think if anything she'd try to make up w/ Brian and not Adam.

Nice little surprise at the end. Not that I want Marjorie back with Adam or Brian, but she'll certainly stir things up.

I think Adam and Heather are a great couple, especially since Marjorie was such a downer...and indecisive. Heather really wants to be with Adam, while Marjorie kept flip-flopping.

I really like this show, but my favorite thing about tonight is that Deena wore a hairstyle that covered her ears--much more flattering!

I am 100 percent behind Heather and Adam. However short and rushed it seems like the most stable relationship on the show. I'm hoping that they continue with this storyline and don't end the marriage. We all expect it to fail because it was a quicky but the chemistry between the characters and the actors is undeniable. I want to watch them learn about each other in their marriage. And have six babies.

When Dave/Deena were together I always felt like Deena took Dave for granted. She's hot, I get that, but Dave is adorable with the personality of 10 great men. I don't expect him and Valery to last but I hope that he ends up with someone who realizes what they have.

As for Brian/Bridget. I have no hopes for the two. With Marjorie back in the picture we might as well assume Brian is going to say "Bridget who?" no matter how hot she is.

The cast has almost seemed to get better since the absence of Marjorie (which I am surprised to say because I started watching because of Lancaster) so I'm not sure I'm thrilled about her return.

I used to like Marjorie in the old-Brian (i.e. season 1) but after the no-wedding I grew tired of her. Brian and Adam seem to be over her as well and it bugged me that she kept showing up in the credits because that could only mean that she was returning.

Well, I know drama is conflict but I feel that the show has find its legs after a very bland start and Marjorie's return could drag it down again. I like Heather more.

By the way, am I reading to much into it or the writers are toying with the idea of a Dave and Nic relationship? Maybe a Dave-Nic-sandwich girl triangle?
