« What About Brian
January 22, 2007: The Six-week Itch
Marjorie's return is immediately making me side with Adam and put up a wall for him. Here's this guy who thought his life was totally together, who genuinely cared about his fiancée, who was happy and going places… and then he's left at the altar, putting him back at square one, totally disheveled and finding himself cornered into new experiences. OK, so he may have been on a time line before, a little rigid even, but he didn't deserve to be deserted like that. Oddly, though, I'm happy she left him. He needed to live more, find a new groove, find his friendship with Brian again. So, I don't want to see Marjorie dig into him again. Watching him stand out on the balcony staring out into nothing was hard. Am I making sense?
On the other hand, Dr. Marj being back in town during Dave and Deena's time of need is convenient and a good tie-in with her and the group again. Dave and Deena are at yet another crossroads, but I'm not surprised. Deena never ceases to aggravate me. Why is she pretty much making decisions without consulting Dave, even though she says that's not what's happening? She's completely frustrating to watch. I understand why Dave wants a neutral doctor, the protective-dad part of him just blew up, but can you blame him? It's been a rough few months.
But the funniest part of this whole maelstrom of lunacy is Brian's six-week sabotage history and the anticipation of a possible breakup that's looming over his head. But Bridget's different. I'm not her biggest fan by any means, but she really does have some great moments with Brian that actually make me laugh out loud. Like that scene outside when they were both yelling about each other's annoying traits — hysterical. "It's not a ship-to-shore call! It's 2007! Talk. In. A. Normal. Voice!"
I was surprised at how at ease Brian seemed around Marjorie. She seemed on edge, but he was pretty calm. But Adam is in a totally distressed state, and I wasn't really sure at first if he was completely caught up in Marjorie's return or Heather's past. But obviously a lot of hurt lingers, because his visit to Marjorie's office was pretty heated. This may just be the downhill push some anti-Heather viewers were hoping for.
Meanwhile, Nicole's nanny issues weren't that engaging to me until Mr. I-Think-of-Myself-as-More-of-a-Teacher rang the doorbell. But there was one funny scene beforehand that made it worthwhile: Alexis saying infants kind of freak her out. "You need to fire that girl. She's too hot to be a nanny, and too dumb." Well played, Brian. Better played than asking Bridget to move in! What kind of cure is that for the six-week slump? Come on, Bri, use your brains…. I know they're under that mop of yours somewhere.
Now, bring that twisted idea into a house filled with several messed up relationships, and we've got the thickest tension ever known to any room ever and one awkward birthday party. Plus, Nic's breast-feeding mommy cleavage is out of control! But she might have stopped fighting the breast pump long enough to do some damage control for Brian. Not everyone can be saved by attending a bittersweet celebration for a troubled 1-year-old, though. The minute Adam smiled at Marjorie, I knew all my hopes for a healed Adam holding up a strong front flew right out the door along with Heather. The question is, will it really be as simple as that? Or is Adam having a setback that most burned relationship victims have post-trauma? "I want you back," she said. Greeeat. Somehow Brian survived seven weeks (and acquired a new roommate), but everyone else is standing on shaky ground.

Now, I'm just anti Marjorie. She came off in this episode as someone who is just about herself. She did not care how much hurt she inflicted her actions spoke louder then her words.
Plus I liked her a lot more before she started putting down Heather's former occupation. Not everyone has the chances that Marjorie has had and Heather is working hard to make her life better.
No matter how much this episode tried to make Heather look bad, Marjorie came off as the dirt IMO
So sad. And Adam looked like he really had a chance at being happy. But it looks like he's already on the road to screwing that up.

Was this not a drama filled episode? Oooh...how I love the drama on this show. This much drama seems a bit unrealistic for one group of people though.
Marjorie blowing back into town did exactly what I expected it would to this group - sent them in circles and reeling from their feelings.
Brian surprisingly handled her return the most gracefully, and I for one am glad he's attempting to make a relationship last past the six week mark. Although, I am not sure how I feel about Bridget being the girl he wants to keep around, but ooookay.
I didn't figure Marjorie would jump so quickly back into Adam's life. I was anticipating her wanting to be with him again, but I really didn't think she'd be so bold so fast. Although, with the state of Heather and Adam's marriage before her return, it was inevitable that she'd tried to worm her way back into his life. Part of me wants Adam and Heather to make it work because that shows commitment and loyalty, but did they ever really have that to begin with? What still baffles me is why Adam didn't try to find Heather after she ran out (speaks volumes, doncha think?), but instead chose to take a walk on the beach with Marjorie. This is a major sign that things between Heather and Adam don't look so good. How is it there was no mention about how Adam and Heather were when Adam met Brian on the beach the next day? Are we to assume that neither of them went home or saw each other since the party? A little more clarification would be nice...
I can't say I'd like to see Adam run right back into Marjorie's arms either. I don't think it's fair that she comes back into town after three months and thinks that life can go right back to the way it was before she disappeared.
Dave and Deena, oy. Where does she come off thinking that she is the sole decision maker in their child's life? Yes, this situation is difficult, but this is the kind of situation that is supposed to bring people together, not tear them apart. Was I the only one who thought that this would be the turning point in their separation? Personally, I think Dave would be better off without Deena. We saw a glimpse at how happy he could be without Deena. Yet, I'd like to see this family make it work, not for the sake of their children alone, but because it would be nice to have a happy family on dramatic TV.
As for Nicole's storyline, *yawn*. As much as I can sympathize with a new mother who is all alone, she needs a little more excitement in her life in order to keep up with the rest of her gang. The most useful plot points for her character tonight were when she explained what a monumental gesture it was for Brian to commit to living together and the final scene when she meets Jamie, the male nanny wonder. That should prove to add a little spice to her bland life, hopefully.
Overall, a great episode!

I wish Marjorie hadn't come back. I really wanted Heather and Adam's relationship to make it. If they can't work things out - I do not want him running back to Marjorie. I'm glad Brian realized he was over her and that he wanted to be with Bridget. Deana gets on my every nerve. She is so incredibly selfish. I lost it during Carrie's birthday party - with the cake and the singing - and the poor little girl looking around - not hearing anything (us not hearing anything). I just lost it. I bawled! It was so incredibly heartbreaking.

This has got to be my fav ep!! Too bad I didnt record it
Yayyyy for Marj being back. I really like Adam and I feel bad for him...but like he said if memory serves me rite...there were probs between him & Heather b4 Marj came back. I mean come on..she's still keeping all kinds of things from him..like her "arrangement" with her "client". Yea read between the lines on that one. Why didnt she tell Adam b4 he met w/ the guy suing her...of course he was gonna tell Adam. And I can undrstand Marj bein upset that rite aftr she left the altar he married sum1 else. It does kinda say hey what we had was nuthin..evn tho thats not the truth. I would like Heather to see the door and Marj to come bak. But I'm not convinced that Marj & Adam will get bak together and if they do it wont b for long. I wanna see next week's ep...looks real juicy.
UGGGGHHHH DEENA! I really cant stand her..she is so MEAN to Dave. Gosh he is so good to her and she still takes him through the wringer Its sad about their daughter too.
Brid & Bri..I guess they're an okay couple...still kinda nasty but I'm gettin used to then.
AND HELLO HOT NANNY..o yea I hope we see a lot more of him!!!!

Even though I knew it was inevitable, I HATED to see Marjorie come back! What she did to Adam was horrible, and now she is digging her claws back in to him. Poor Adam deserves to have a chance to make things work out with Heather and be happy. Yes, they jumped in too fast, but they really care about each other, and with time, they could have ironed out all the wrinkles. Now, it looks like his confused state of mind is going to ruin that for him. Deena drives me nuts!! She is so HORRID to Dave! She has no right to make decisions with Marjorie and not include him. I found myself wishing she would get hit by a bus or something, so Dave and the girls could have a nice little life without the shrew. Horrible of me, I know... but she is just wretched! I was bawling when Carrie was looking around the room, not hearing anything..

Enough with Heather! I am officialy declaring their marriage over. I do hope they try to work on it, but they both know he will take Marjorie back. I am soooooooo glad that Brian is over her. He was totally calm and friendly with her. I don't know if I want Bridget to be the one, but I like her for now. She's a bit sassy, and he needs that. He won't get bored with her!

This is the best drama on TV. I don't understand how this show can be on such declining ratings. I love every character with its real drama, not over the top. I hope ABC keeps it around for a long while and starts promoting it more so it finds a larger audience. Its the "Once and Again" of the 2000s!

Adam & Heather do not have a marraige based on love. She is a lier! Kick her mooching a$$ to the curb! And do not go back to Marjorie yet. She needs to suffer a little longer.
Oh Deena. I really care about Dave and Deena. Hope they work it out. She needs some counceling on her own before they attempt anything together! Yea, I know it's a t.v. show.
I am liking the chemistry between Brian & Bridget. I would be ok with never seeing his dad again. That might help with the ick factor.

I was so glad to see Marjorie back! I've never really bought the Adam/Heather relationship - every week some new major hurdle to overcome and a lot of those have been based on Heather's shady past - not that it has anything to do with her having been a stripper, just that she hasn't exactly been honest. The fact that she completely turned Adam's issue with the pictures he saw of her into a "this is about Marjorie" fight, without ever addressing the fact that she hadn't been honest about her relationship with her "client" really bugged me. I have a hard time feeling sorry for her when she never explains/defends her actions but expects Adam to just forget a significant relationship that had no real closure was very selfish on her part. And I didn't see Marjorie digging her claws back into Adam - they have unfinished business. Whether they stay together or not, I hope she's back to stay. I really like her addition to the group dynamic. I also liked that Brian could be normal with her - as if what had happened before was an infatuation taken too far and even he realized it. I don't like him with Bridget, she seems fake, but I like that he can be OK with Marjorie and not be with her. That seemed realistic to me. As far as Dave and Deena go, she needs a reality check. He's been there for her in pretty much every way since they broke up and she takes him for granted. That situation needs to be resolved once and for all.
