Episode 8 Recap
Is it mean that I was actually happy no one clapped when Neil lost 33 pounds? He totally lost my respect last week and quite obviously lost the respect of most of the contestants. And his own trainer, too — Bob told him he didn't expect to see him still there. Even his own teammates were upset at the way things where handled. Poor Kae was so distraught over the drama, she packed up her stuff and decided to go home because the game just wasn't worth it.
Well I'm sure Kae was glad she decided to stick around because she proved at the end what a rock star she truly was. As if Bob telling her how much he believed in her and reminding her that she deserved to be there wasn't enough, her six-pound drop was a bigger percentage loss than Neil's 33 pounds. That's definitely something to be proud about.
Right before the teams went into the elimination room and had to choose between Kae, David and Holly, I was worried that Kae's continued success week after week in the game was going to end up hurting her and she'd be the one sent home. But, of course, once again, team loyalty decided the vote and it was David's turn to say his emotional goodbye. It was really sweet of him to encourage everyone to give it all they've got and how each of them played a part in him changing his life. Even more emotional was seeing David reunite with his family and how his wife was able to wrap her arms around his whole body. And I loved when David said he would be a "handsome devil with smoking guns." He did look great after a 105-pound loss!
It wasn't really that surprising when Amy revealed to Jillian she threw last week's weigh-in because Neil "pressured" her to. Again, I don't want to sound mean, but I can't seem to find it in me to root for her. It wasn't even that impressive that she had her biggest loss so far (11 pounds) because she pretty much cheated last week. No, there are no actual rules that you have to lose weight each week to stay in the game, but most of us agree that it's not necessarily fair.
But alas, it is a game, and by now we've gotten used to people finding ways to get around the system instead of trying to beat it. Case in point: Isabeau knowing that Neil would lose enough weight to save their team, and purposely losing zero pounds so that she'd have a big number next week. It should be really interesting to see what happens once all teams are completely dissolved and it's every man and woman for themselves. Let's see how far sneaky strategies can actually go.

I was surprised how many people seemed to water-load last week. Some of them didn't come right out and say it, but with their losses last week and this week, it was easy to tell. Kae's team was screwed over by that this week since they didn't have that cushy water weight that is so easy to lose propping up their numbers.

I haven't liked Amy in several weeks now since she threw one of the other females on her team under the bus and then was upset when Kim did it to her a few weeks ago.
I'm glad Kae didn't get voted off because I would like to see a female win this year and I think if she stays til the end and doesn't even lose any more weight, she will win. That said, it was poor strategy not to vote her off when they had the chance.
In defense of Isabeau, she did state that she was having trouble with her hip so she thought she would take it easy this week knowing Neil would lose enough weight for the both of them so her hip could get better. I don't know why, but I have liked her since the beginning and that was probably a very good strategy on her part.

When Amy was talking to Jill and the rest about Kae she the last vestige of respect that anyone had for her. While she was correct in theory, the venom behind it was ugly. Even when she loses all the weight, she may be physically pretty but from what we have been shown she is not a pretty person inside.
I wish Kae would smile more, losing alot of weight can bring up issues that one has been avoiding, and I wonder if that is the case her. It doesn't help with all the drama in the house this year either. I just want her to be feel happier about her outstanding accomplismhments.

I am really disappointed that this show has become so much more about the game than about getting healthy. The weigh-in was just grim, everyone scowling. Why should we ever believe Neil again? If Isabeau deliberately did not lose weight since she knew Neil would pull a big number, that is just wrong. I understand why the trainers are all furious. Why even bother to have trainers if the players are not trying to lose as much weight as they can every week?

There have been "players" on this show since Season 1, but none as blatantly obvious as Neil.
Sure we expected a big number...but personally I think he should have had to subtract that outrageous 17 lb gain and only had the remaining 16 count!
And I have to agree with tmfmvt12, Amy has never impressed me, but last night was the icing on the cake. It really was venomous and she needs to go...

Now that I've gotten over my anger for Neil, I can't believe Amy threw the competition last week. I had chalked it up to her not seeing good results during her first week with Jillian. And why does Amy keep going off the deep end with her rants? Can I get through 1 week in which she doesn't annoy me?!
For the record, for those who haven't heard, the BL producers have instituted a policy for the new season that penalizes contestants who water-load like Neil.
LOL... and can you believe he's going to be in trouble again next week?
And I'm glad it will be every person for his/herself for the rest of the show.

I've finally given up on this show. I'm no longer watching or taping it.
I liked it as a weight loss competition, not as a game. I liked wacthing people get healthy, but these people are doing stupid things just to win. I know it's a lot of money to win, but jeez, have some respect for yourself.

I think Neil should have been disqualified and sent home. I realize that reality shows tend to focus on 'strategy' but I honestly thought this show was a cut above. EVERYONE has the potential to win big by regaining their lives and health. This season has been a travesty ....I am so tired of seeing real competitors sent home while the whiners and cheaters remain. This isn't setting a good example for anyone.
Last year, I was working in a highly stressful situation and gained 45 pounds for a total of 185 pounds (I'm 5'7"). I've been working very hard to lose weight ever since. The people on The Biggest Loser are my heroes. I tune in every week to be inspired in my own weight loss journey. My goals are pretty insignificant compared to the obstacles being overcome by the people on the show....each week they give me hope and incentive to carry on. By God, if they can do it, clearly I can as well. Neil is a spoiler....get rid of him. BTW, I adore Kai. You go girl, there are people like me right behind you.

Didn't like Amy before, like her even less now know she was in on the fix last week. Can someone please explain to me WTF is up with the "team" voting strategy? They are now teams of 3, Blue, Red, and Black are gone. How does it help them to be voting like the old dynamic is still in play? Loyalty isn't going to get you a quarter of a million bucks, knuckleheads.
Glad to hear about the rule change for next season, Spidey. Let's get this back to what it once was, not a fatty version of Survivor. I want inspiration, not devious "Big Brother" type of crap.
Not to get too off topic here, but I just have to say this. While this weeks obligatory promo wasn't as ridiculous as the chewing gum thing, advertising yet another disposable product just grates on my nerves. When are we gonna get it, for gosh sakes. Do we need to add more to our landfills? Another thing made from petroleum, a rapidly dwindling resource who's price is out of control? Great idea. If this was still the 1950's! How about putting the fish in a glass or ceramic bowl, putting a plate on top, and achieve the same results. And you can use that bowl a thousand times, not just once. Rant over.

I haven't liked Amy at all and each week she annoys me more. She is such a whiner & schemer. I think she's there more for the money than for her health. And I would bet anything that the weight loss stops once she goes home.
I don't blame Isabeua in the least for taking it easy this week. She knew her team would be safe so she could rest her hip & if they weren't safe, Neil definitely would have gone home.
The teams may have been switched around but I believe the loyalty still remains with original teammates so when the individual votes begin you want to have at least some people on your side.
I like Kae & I hope she loses the guilt for voting off Jez by next week.

I was shocked last week over what Neil did. I think he should have been eliminated from the game. Maybe I've missed something in past seasons, but I don't remember anyone ever cheating like this, and to get away with it is appalling. It seems like the best people are getting voted off this season, which means we can see some cheater being rewarded for cheating. That's not fair. I really thought the people were more into losing weight and starting on a healthy life style. But these people conniving, cheaters. Also, I'm pretty sick of Amy, enough is enough. She needs to go, and so does Neil and his blue team buddies. I do blame the show for keeping Neil around after the stunt he pulled last week. People should know when they come in there, that they will not be rewarded for that type of action. Now what? Every contestant that comes in next year will be plotting and planning how to cheat? Rediculous!

neil should have been gone, no fanfare no drama around it, just completely gone. then at weigh-in, allison could say a quick sentence or two about not pulling that crap or you'll get disqualified. the end! and there is no question he should only be credited with a 16-pound weight loss.
like everyone else i dont watch this show to see jerks being nasty (that's what big brother is for), so amy needs to be gone too. she's bugged from the start and doesnt deserve to be there.
i dont like isabeau either, and her name drives me nuts whenever i hear it. it sounds like a 2 year old with a cold is trying to say isabelle.
emmy lou, good job and good luck on your weight loss journey, you've got a ton of support here i'm sure. it doesnt matter if you have to lose 100, 50, or 10, we gain weight when we've become overwhelmed, stressed, depressed, etc... and there are always issues that come up when the weight comes off. keep it up!

What Neil and Amy did was disgusting! I want to see them both GONE so the rest of the people there that are trying their best to better themselves can carry on with their weight loss program. Sure it's a game, but Neil and Amy seem more interested in getting the prize money than in doing what they (supposedly) came there to do, which is LOSE WEIGHT, not gain or stay the same. How underhanded a thing for Neil to do. I hope he gains all his weight back and goes back home as big or bigger than he came in. Neil SUCKS! The production people should now make some rules against this type of cheating.

MsMaggs2...you think Neil and Amy are "disgusting"...what do you think you are for actually hoping Neil gains all his weight back. I think that makes you a pretty disgusting person.
I don't like what Neil did, but it is a game. Can't he try to play the game and better himself at the same time???
