Episode 3 Recap
Jerry, don't go!
Blue Team, how could you? Shame on you for voting off the oldest contestant in Biggest Loser history, the one who pulled in the biggest numbers at weigh-in and who's your captain — the one who took a chance on you to join his team. Big mistake. Huge.
In case it's not obvious, I was really disappointed to see Jerry go home, especially after he reminded his team about loyalty and respect. Too bad his guilt trips didn't quite work. I know the Blue Team members were confident that Jerry would be able to continue on his own at home, but this early in the game, I just don't think it's wise to send home one the strongest competitors and a true leader. If it had been any other of the contestants that fell during the piggyback exercise, they would have made a huge fuss (see: Bill screaming at the top of his lungs at Isabeau) and used it as an excuse not to work out.
Alas, Jerry did continue at home, and my jaw dropped when I saw how skinny he looked! It was so sweet seeing him beaming with pride over his 88-pound loss and doing those push-ups as if he were 16 years old rather than 62.
I understand why Patty and Nicole cried when they revealed they had voted for Jerry, but why did Kae cry that hard when she made a mistake voting for Nicole?
By the way, a note to the producers/editors: Is it really necessary to dedicate a full seven minutes at the top of the show to recap the last two episodes and previous seasons (which we just saw in the premiere two weeks ago)?
It was nice to finally see the Red Team in good spirits. As they should be, with their first win at the weigh-in, winning the race challenge against the "yellow team" (how cute was Cooper the kindergartner?), and thanks to Phil, a phone call home to significant others and children. Cue tears.
Pretty impressive that only a few people gave in to temptation in the secluded room of delicious high-calorie treats. Of course, Neil and Patty each did it because they thought they were taking one for the team. This show isn't really known for having too many comedic moments but I definitely laughed out loud with Bryan's "Hot Wings, oh it's been a long time" and Jez running in place while downing a slice of pizza.
So any thoughts on the big twist coming up next week?

Stupid stupid stupid. How could they send Jerry home?

What was the Blue team thinking? First of all, it's never worth a 3 pound bonus to give into temptation. Then they get rid of Jerry who is a big inspiration to the team. I'm still shaking my head. I would have gotten rid of Patty if that had been possible but since she couldn't go, I would have said Neil since he gave Patty the impression he didn't eat.
While I'm not a big fan of the Red Team, I was glad to see them finally do well.
Cooper was a cutie. WOW could those 3 kids run.
If the twist is closing the gym, they have done that every year for a week. I think it will give the black team the advantage since they are used to not having a gym.

Sometimes this show makes me so mad. Because in the end, it's not really the biggest loser who wins; it's the player who wins the final weigh-in. And a 3 pound advantage to the person who eats the MOST calories?! At first I thought I was losing my hearing. Seems like a pretty counterproductive message...and given the changes that their bodies and have been through, I would have thought that Neil and Patty would have gotten sick as dogs after eating all that crap.
Well, at least they give a cash prize to the contestant that loses the most weight overall, and with that I say "Go, Jerry!" I hope you blow everybody away when you step on those scales at the finale.

I think Kae cried because she got scared that they were going to vote her next since she looked not to be "loyal"

This show is such a pain in the ass. I love the challenges, the weigh ins, the training sessions but why must we see the same stuff repeated over and over? We know the Biggest Loser has produced some amazing results, we know who has won each year, we know it's an international phenomenon so let's just start each episode concentrating on this season's players. Plus, why must we see something dramatic, cut to commercial, and then backtrack to the dramatic part right before the result? I can't even watch this show at the regular time. I tape it while I am at the gym so I can fastfoward all the crap. With that said.... I thought the temptation challenge was silly. Why don't they do a challenge that requires them to use healthy food as opposed to the bad food they are trying to conquer. Have each team make a meal that has x amount of calories and x amount of vitamins and nutrients. Or go out to dinner and see who can eat the healthiest. It is a lot harder to find something healthy on a menu that to eat a resist that gluttonous food display.... Challenge them in ways that they will be challenged when they return home!
Sad to see Jerry go. I missed the last 2 minutes (my tape ran out) but I think they made a mistake by sending home their captain. I would have chosen Patty or Nicole. Thanks for the review!
Last question... Who is everyone most looking forward to seeing after weight has been dropped? I can't wait to see the nice country boy (forgot the name) from the red team, Isabeau (what kind of name is that), and the hottie captain of the red team.

I can't believe the Blue team voted off their captain. I see the Blue team falling apart soon. Too bad for for Bob-he's my favorite trainer. He is going to be sooo upset when he finds out about Jerry. Did it turn anyone else's stomach when Patti was eating all of that food. I can see her gaining all her weight back in a couple of years-that was just too easy for her! The food was obviously sitting there for a while-it was probably cold and been touched by several people during the set up-eeewww! Cold eggrolls, cold hot wings-you couldn't pay me enough $$ to waste all the time and effort I put in to losing weight for cold and old food. Well maybe a brownie .

OMG!!! How could the Blue Team turn on Jerry like that. I love Bob but I really hope they lose the weigh in next week after this fiasco - How ungrateful! Not to mention is wasn't good strategy to vote off your biggest loser this early in the game. As someone else said: Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!!
Until now I wanted the Red team out, Kim is annoying and Phil is a jerk.
I am rooting for the Black Team all the way, Jillian Rocks!

WOW, that was shocking, unfair and STUPID!!! it's way too early to be cutting people "cuz i know they will do well on their own at home". especially your strongest player, you dumb@$$e$!! i thought i must have missed some horrible thing jerry must have done, but i guess i didnt. i still dont know why they did it, and i dont believe their lame excuses. did i miss something?
i am also so sick of the first 5-10 minutes of the show, showing us what we have ALREADY seen----knock it off producers, i dont even bother to turn the show on for the first 10 minutes; i'm sure your advertisers would LOVE to hear that!!!
roy-something, you had some EXCELLENT points. your suggestions for challenges are great ones, i'd love to watch them trying to cook a healthy meal and at a restaraunt trying to order healthy. very cool ideas and very CHALLENGing! maybe you should be producer of the show then we wouldnt have to worry about ridiculous recaps and lame challeneges.
i also kept thinking about how nasty and congealed that food must have been by the end. ICK!! that is not even remotely tempting! and i loves me my egg rolls and hot wings.
i liked jerry and wanted him to go all the way, and i think he had an excellent shot at doing it. plus, who couldnt love such a happy and proud grampa, those kids are very lucky to have him. i'm gonna need some time to be a pouty baby about this, and i dont even remember anyone else enough to care who wins at this point.
i am so sad for him, but i really want to see bob's reaction to his team's huge mistake. he's gonna be PISSED!!!!!
i felt so bad for everyone--trainers and players---that their numbers were soo soo small, but it was kinda entertaining to see jillian's shocked expressions (sorry jillian, please dont kick my @$$, cuz you defintely could!).
i'm sure next week everyone's numbers will be really big after this week's low numbers. but it did make me wonder how it could happen when they work out that much and are eating so healthy. i know our bodies fluctuate, etc., but it seems to me that people that big should be losing at least 5 pounds without much effort.

I agree about the replays after the commercials. That has to be the most annoying thing ever!!! Thank God for DVR because it really only takes me about 60 minutes to watch a 90 minute show. Producers - STOP using this technique. What a waste of time.
I almost cried when I saw the new Jerry. To have lost 88 pounds??? He looks like a completely different person. What a roll-model for older people. It CAN be done. He looks amazing!

I'll agree with the others about the recaps after the commercials, as well as the recap of previous episodes at the beginning of the show. It's not as if there isn't plenty of other material that can be used during those minutes.
I was mad at the others for voting Jerry out. Talk about lack of loyalty. He did look great after losing 88 pounds.

Kimba- thanks for your suggestion that I produce the show- If only... I know from experience how hard it is to go to a restaurant and try to pick out something healthy. Even salads are tricky due to the dressing and toppings.
I too feel for the players this week with the low numbers. I started my own little challange the day the show started. My goal is only 15 pounds for now. I actually did good last week and made it to the gym or walked 4-5 times last week. Sadly, I only dropped 2 pounds. It feels really crummy to see especially when you have such high hopes.

roygbiv, that's awesome getting to the gym that often. i'm impressed! it sucks when you work so hard and dont see the numbers. i'm sure you're focusing on how your clothes fit, how great you feel, how proud of yourself you are...we're all super busy so to make that gym time happen is AWESOME! and you ALWAYS feel better after going to the gym; well, unless you were going to the BL gym. damn, those workouts look brutal (but a little fun too. you could get rid of some serious stress pulling a person across a gym like that)

Haven't these people watched prior seasons? In the beginning you keep your tough people to help win challenges and that will lose those pounds so you don't have to go to elimination! I just wanted to smack them all. I love Bob and I agree he is going to go off the deep end and whatever he uses as punishment the team deserves it. Did you catch Nicole's eye roll when Kae was apologizing? Also, I have no use for Kim. She is not a motivator.
