Episode 15: Season Finale Recap
Congratulations Bill! Congratulations Jim! What a proud day for the Germanakos family. First they were the first twins in Biggest Loser history, then they were both rejected from the Red and Blue Teams. And then months later, they won it all: Bill, the Biggest Loser and winner of a quarter million dollars, and Jim, the Biggest Loser out of the eliminated 14 players and winner of $100,000.
You know the show's producers must be drooling over the twins winning this game and how they are going to shamelessly remind us about it every chance they get in future seasons. Think of how many "breaking history" moments they had this season: the first-ever set of twins, the oldest contestant ever (Jerry), the female who lost the most weight on the show (Isabeau), the most weight gain on the show (Neil and his notorious 17 pounds), and the first time only one team has made it to the finale (Black Team). It should be interesting to see what kind of records will be hit in the next couple of seasons — which in case you missed the 18 times Allison mentioned it, premieres January 1.
Speaking of Allison, was it just me or did she show more enthusiasm during the first opening minute of tonight's show than this entire season? Maybe it's something about live television that gets her energy going. Plus she looked fantastic in that purple dress, I think she's lost some weight since leaving campus as well.
I swear my cheeks hurt after watching each of the 14 eliminated contestants and then the top four reveal their new bodies tonight. I was smiling from ear to ear seeing how amazing everyone looked, and how proud of their accomplishments they were. Kae still rocks my world. And how cute was Jerry when he ripped off his shirt after finding out he lost 110 pounds? Love him. Some of them really looked like completely different people, and after watching a huge portion of their journey to get here, I feel really satisfied and happy for them. Even Neil.
But it was Jim who topped the weight loss with a whopping 186 pounds and 51.52 percent of his original self. That is just insane!
Out of the remaining four, I had a feeling the winner would end up being Bill, but I was still secretly hoping a woman could pull it off. I certainly didn't expect Julie to beat both Hollie and Isabeau, but regardless, all three ladies just looked gorgeous. Bill lost 164 pounds and 49.10 percent of his body, and gained $250,000. Lucky guy. The fact that he and his brother were able to stand side by side and fit across his old pair of pants was unbelievable.
So what did you all think? Did the live two-hour finale live up to your expectations or were you hoping for a different Loser winner?
Well, friends, it's been real. Thanks for all your comments and for reading mine! Have a happy and healthy new year.

Random thoughts...
Can we just say that Kae looked absolutely stunning?! Loved the short hair on her!
I was WOWd by Julie's results. She was a tiny little thing, but the twins deserved to win after losing half of their prior selves. Amazing and what wonderful motivation for everyone at home to get up off the couch from watching it and start exercising.
I agree about Allison. She definitely lost some weight since she left the campus. She looked awesome!
I was in tears the whole two hours and remember saying, "Wow," after just about everyone came out.
Was it me or did Jillian look completely uncomfortable in a skirt?
Still humming the theme song...what have you done today to make you feel proud?
Great show! Excited to see the new season in just two weeks!

I thought it was a good finale. It wasn't surprising that Bill won. And while it would have been nice to see a woman win this competition, I've come to realize that it will NEVER happen if a guy, who was extremely heavy in the beginning and extremely motivated to win, is in the final four.
I thought Neil might have beaten Jim for the $100,000. But Jim looked great! I bet Bob was jealous of Jim's arms. LOL
Jillian did look a bit uncomfortable, but she still rocks.
Regarding your observation about Allison, she looked as if she lost weight a few weeks ago during the live update with Kae. Last night, she looked as if she gained a few pounds compared to what the audience saw a few weeks ago.
Finally, it was great to see nearly everyone lose weight after they left the campus. Only Lezlie didn't lose weight after she left the campus. Her weight after leaving the campus was 200 pounds, the same as it was several months later at last night's finale.

It is just amazing how different people look when they’ve lost so much weight—I know that seems really obvious, but I can’t get over how they all end up looking like they were never heavy to start. Speaking of which, I knew that some previous contestants had gained their weight back & even more, but 90% of former contestants have put their weight back on? Wow. I guess that’s the risk when you’re not working out all day long.
So, it’s been said before, and I’m glad for her accomplishment, but I am SO pleased that Julie didn’t win because her personality just rubs me the wrong way. She just acts so victimized by the realities of her life—having to be healthy and be a mom. It’s hard, yes, but not many of us get the opportunities she had to put ourselves first. And while I’m on that, it completely bugs me that she’s a mom who frenches her husband before hugging or greeting her 5 year old. Kids don’t understand that stuff, and I’ll wager that all he feels from her is some vague sense of rejection. Anyway, not my business, but I think a moment like that says a lot about someone’s selfishness, and it’s not the first time she’s acted that way.
So, great ending & I’m looking forward to the new season.

Ok... I have never commented before, but Julie rubbed me so wrong that I needed to put my tow cents in. When she was brought along on Hollie's award and got to go home - she talked about how much she could not wait to see her husband. No mention of her son. I thought that was odd. On that trip she also made out with her husband before acknowledging her son. I noticed her son's reaction to her right away last night because I had thought it was so odd last time. Oh well - she just came across as victimized and selfish through the whole show.

Calamity and mbtowle, I thought it was "weird" that Julie said she missed her son's kindergarten graduation, yet he looks as if he's in second or third grade.

I agree I didn't want Julie to win she drove me crazy! I was almost somewhat disappointed that the twins won,it seemed too obvious... I would have preferred a shocking result. They sure had amazing arms though! They pretty much all looked great.... I have to wonder if a few of them, Jez in particular, wouldn't need to have some surgery to remove skin... his skin was quite loose when he was heavy it must be a nightmare now...
I also wondered about Julie's son, he does look way too old to be in kindergarten and it's not like his parents are that tall either...

i noticed the same thing. julie hadnt seen her child in MONTHS and she ignores him to make out with her husband!?!? i'd plow down 10 football players to get to my kids after being away that long. the poor little guy was left standing there completely ignored; sadly i get the feeling he's been there before. he said something like, "oh, here they go again.." or something like that when they were kissing. that was bizarre, to say the least! i was shocked! i got the same feeling on a smaller scale during her home visit.
i was so impressed with how well everyone did and how great they looked. it will be interesting to see who keeps it off, the twins obviously will.
was neil booed a little bit when he came out? i thought i heard some booing.
i got a little tired of the couples announcements, i'm not sure it will make it any more interesting for me. there will be a lot more fighting and negativity and i dont enjoy watching that, especially between people who "love" each other. ICK!!!
i think the million-pound challenege is a great thing. the show reaches millions and it's nice to see them use that in a positive way. it will change even more lives.

Neil also set the record for most weight lost before going home, beating last year's winner Erik.

Calamity Jane, I don't think it was 90% of the contestants gaining weight back, I think statistically nationwide...90% of americans gain back at least some or all of what they've lost.
Great finale though! Glad Bill won. But in the past, didn't the runners up get money too? What happened to that? I wonder if it's because so many of the challenge prizes were bigger this year...

I'm glad somebody else saw the same thing I did with Julie. How can somebody only be concerned with seeing her husband and french him before hugging or even acknowledging your child. I noticed that when she tagged along with Hollie for the trip home. She did not even realize he was there it seemed.

I too am concerned about the "couples" edition. This show is so great in part because of the relatively little drama (yelling, verbal abuse, tears) that happens.
In case anyone is interested, the theme song for the show is called "Proud" and is by Heather Smalls. I had to find it on itunes.

I have not watched this show but I show the winners named listed and I went to Elementry & High School, with the Germanakos twins what a small world. They were big back in High school so congrats to them.

I loved it! I couldn't sleep afterwards because I was on a high. My face hurt from smiling too, & from my jaw dropping over & over. I was crying, laughing, saying Oh my God over & over. I was thrilled the twins won because I liked their personalities best. They are smoking hot now! While I would love a woman to win, I really really didn't want Julie to win, as I couldn't stand her. Talk about a whiny victim. Blah, blah, blah, she was a victim about everything in her mind. I remain convinced that woman can't win. I know it's % of body fat lost, but the fact is that men can eat more calories, & they lose weight faster. That's just the way it is. It stinks for us women, but it's true. Kae ROCKS, love her to death, she looks fantastic. Great to see her beaming! Hollie looked like a fashion model, WOW! You go girls. I can't wait to watch it again & cry some more.
