Episode 13 Recap (on hold)

Hey there BL fans, I'm so sorry there will not be a blog tonight because I was celebrating the first night of Hanukkah with family. Go ahead and leave your thoughts, talk amongst yourselves and I'll post my blog Wednesday night!

As I was enjoying Extra's long-lasting flavorful sugar free gum during last night's program, I was annoyed by one of the excuses one of the women had about why it's hard to exercise in the real world.

I'm not saying it isn't hard; I have more time than most and I still don't do it regularly. But her example included "driving my children to school and picking them up from school."

Has she never heard of a damn bus? I'm sure there are some situations where it makes sense for a guardian to drive/pick-up a child to/from school. Though I can't actually think of any...

I'm just baffled why so many parents drive their kids to school (I know quite a few who do this. One reason I heard was "He doesn't like the bus." Yeah, well, who does?).

I was on the bus in kindergarten! By myself. OK, they watched me get on the bus and were looking for me as I got off the bus...but my parents weren't going to waste their time driving me to school when I had a perfectly good bus going down my street.

I don't know why this bothered me so much. I guess because if this is taking up so much of her time...there is (most likely) an obvious solution. Stop coddling your kid! Throw 'em on the bus and gain a little extra time for yourself!

Speaking of "extra" did I mention its long-lasting flavor that comes in 7 different varieties?

Oh, were my product placements not smooth? My bad. I better just ZipLoc my mouth and shut up about it.

Cruciatus - I thought when I heard that was she not the one who is a stay at home mom. So what do you do between 8am and 3pm.

Does anyone know where The Biggest Loser Campus is? I think I read somewhere that it's a refurbished college campus. I've just always been curious about this. Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing when Julie was talking...I am pretty sure she might be able to fit a workout in between 8am-3pm. She has nothing else to do besides a little cleaning which she could ALSO use as part of her work out routine!!

Cruciatus -

While I wondered if she worked between 8 & 3:30, I can completely understand why she might be driving her kids to school - in MY town, you have to live more than 5 miles away from the school for the bus to come pick you up...and we don't have public transportation because it's a pretty small town! While I'm all for kids walking to school...I think that's a little far & would certainly drive my own kids if I thought it was too far for them to walk!

Just my 2 cents!

Cruciatus- loved the product placements. Maybe Julie doesn't have time to work out because she is too busy preparing her Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal- it comes in 3 flavors and is loaded with protein and fiber!

Re driving kids to school vs taking the bus: I drove my kids to school for a couple of reasons - 1) the bus didn't come down our dirt road so they had to wait for it approx. a quarter mile away - not a problem when they were older but no way when they were little - also they were the only school children on the road at the time - so I would have to go with them to the bus stop, driving in bad weather, and since I was already out it was easier to make the 8 minuite drive to the school because 2) the bus picked up at 7:30 and they didn't have to be at school until 8:25. I appreciated the extra hour to get 3 kids ready for school. Not coddling, just common sense.

The women from the black team are B*tches. When members from other teams are speaking Hollie, Julie and Isabeau all roll their eyes and make faces. They are rude and they never have done the work that any of the others have done. If it weren't for their teammates loosing the weight the black team would not have won so many weigh ins.

I wish they would change the show and not have the voting process. Just have the person that lost the smallest percentage leave.

GO NEIL!

Hey Cruciatus, I'm not giving Julie any slack here but the school bus issue is probably not about coddling. My daughters school district offered busing for the younger kids, but then stopped it once she reached middle school. That school also starts later so it makes things much harder when a parent has to go to work.

In Julie's case though she said that before she didn't have a car because that was the thing she gave up in order to be a stay at home mom. Now she will have a car so yeah I see no reason why she can't go to the gym during school hours.

Love ya'lls product placements LOL. They are so annoying and obvious on the show, it bothers me a bunch.

Oh yeah, I just zip right through those extended infomercial scenes with my Tivo remote. It's the only thing that makes a 2 hour Biggest Loser ep. watchable. I HATE feeling manipulated!

Julie really rubs me the wrong way a lot of the time. She's such a whiner sometimes. I thought the same thing about her comment about driving her son to school at 8:00 and 3:00--can't you squeeze in a workout in the intervening hours??

Get over yourself, Jules!

Changing the subject from the lack of time for Julie's work out, did anyone notice the size of the "lunch box" they took to work with them? I know it's for 6 people, but were talking maybe 8 hours of work here and it took 2 of them to carry it out! How much food are they actually eating in one day?

I too thought the same thing when Julie was talking about driving her kid to school and picking him up. Since she was a stay at home mom and didn't have a car what was she doing before taking a cab? Admit that you were lazy (i certainly am) and say fitting in exercise will be difficult because i'm lazy but i'm going to try.

I really do not like the black team and the fact they have the majority vote is really getting on my nerves, i'm so happy for Neil for his weight loss but also for his ability to stay above that yellow line, he only needs one more week!

Product placement: love when they zoom in on the gum sitting on the table with no one else around, obvious much?

I really enjoyed seeing the top ten results from past seasons. It was great and so motivating that i actually worked out while watching the show!

The BL Campus is actually the campus of California University-Channel Islands in Camarillo, CA. It's an open, existing school, but the BL Campus portion of the school is a converted mental institution (good times) that isn't being used by the main school.
