Episode 12 Recap

Looks like Bryan's elimination tonight made Biggest Loser history. It was the first time an entire team had been eliminated before going to the finale, but I think that's an unfair statistic seeing as there have never been three teams before. So an entire team not lasting to the finale wasn't as likely to happen in past seasons, but we know this show and how it loves to make history so, there you have it.

Anyway it was sad to see B go but he knew his time would eventually run out since he was a such a weight-loss threat and he had no more Red Team allies. Congratulations to him losing 118 pounds and I won't be surprised if he ends up being the Biggest Loser out of the eliminated players. I'm going to miss the time Kim and Bryan spent together, they had such a great relationship like the way Kae and Bob did. Does this mean Kim is gone the rest of the season?

There's a great drinking game somewhere in these elimination scenes: for each time someone describes the contestant they voted for as having "integrity," or starts off with "This was a really tough choice this week, Allison", you take a shot. Or I suppose in the spirit of the show, you could do a sit up, and by the end of the season have abs of steel. It's got to be hard for them to give the same speech week after week and they're probably encouraged to go on and on so the audience is confused about who they're voting for, but come on.

The whole part with Nicole chipping her teeth in the pool was quite amusing. Obviously I'm glad she's ok but it was funny watching everyone trying to hold their breath and look for her tooth underwater.

Also entertaining was seeing all those old challenges from previous seasons and finding out that fans got to vote for tonight's challenge. It took me three times of rewinding but I got it: the Wrigley's Poles Over Water Extra-Long-Lasting Challenge. Nice work to Bill for staying on the pole the longest and winning that awesome vacation. Andre Agassi — random?

It was also so great to see the doctors speak about how much everyone's health has improved. The physical changes have been obvious for each one of these contestants — especially in their faces, but hearing how their blood pressure and cholesterol have moved into normal numbers and how they’ve added years to their lives was really important for them.

Now it's down to the remaining six. The finale is set for December 18 so who do you all think will be the final four?

First let me say that I was disappointed that America didn't give the contestants a more challenging event. Walking the 78 flights of steps would have been better.

I disagree with your assessment that an entire team not lasting to the finale wasn't going to happen in previous seasons. What I like about this season -- and I might get a few disagreements on this -- was which trainer is better: Jillian or Kim? We don't know every exercise routine the trainers incorporated, but it appeared Jillian's team really did well with the routines she gave them.

It's obvious that Bill and Neil will be two of the final four. If I had to put money on the other two, it would be Nicole and Isabeau. The grand prize winner will be Neil barely defeating Bill.

I think it will be close between B and Kae winning the eliminated players competition.

I'm looking forward to the finale and seeing everyone, especially Kae.

Nicole was lucky she only chipped her teeth. I dove into the shallow end of the pool when I was a teenager and broke my nose! Twice! (I must be a slow learner, ha!)

I will miss B but am soooo glad Kim is gone. I was so over her inflated ego and narcissistic personality. And what was up with the fake eyelashes and tons of mascara she always wore....even during the work outs.

I pick Bill, Neil (unfortunately), Holly and Isabeau to be in the finale with Bill beating Neil by a hair. Neil may lose more weight but Bill will edge him out in percentage. I think Bill has more will power and will be more focused at home.

I think Jim might just take the eliminated contestant prize. After he was eliminated and they showed his "now" weight loss, he had already lost 123 lbs with time to lose more before the finale. If he is anything like his brother Bill, he is a work horse and may just surprise everyone. I would love to see Jerry take it though......he was one of my faves from the get go.

I'm with Cosmo, glad to see Kim gone. I think B could have lost more weight with Bob's style of training.

Also, I too have dove into that shallow end and luckily did not chip my tooth. I did end up with the exact scrape Nicole had on her chin...

I was disappointed in the pole challenge. These teams haven't seemed nearly as strong or as competitive as in previous seasons. And I did think it was a little odd that they never gave any time markings. Just how long did Julie and Bill manage to hang on? Maybe it was simply editing, but everyone seemed to drop pretty fast. They made a point of saying last time how Susie and Andrea hung in for over an hour! This time around - no comment. Made me wonder how much of a challenge it really was.

I've always liked this show, but there seems to be a mean-spiritedness that has evolved this season (even among the trainers, i.e Jillian and Kim).

Maybe the Couples will be more interesting come January. For now, I could really care less who wins. I guess if I had to pick one, I'd say that Bill deserves it most among the players still standing.

I agree totally about Kim! To me, she only wanted B to stay so she could. Kim made everything be about her instead of the people she was training.

Jillian might be hard on her team, but I think she really wants to see them succeed and more for their own sake, you know? I think Kim is more about making herself look good.

As for the final four, I'm torn. I can see Bill being eliminated if he falls below the yellow line just because of his prior successes in competitions. I think Neil and Isabeau will be at least two of the four.

i got a little pit of fear in my tummy when i realized that nicole dove??? into the shallow end. i know of a few people who have done that in pools or lakes and had far worse injuries than a chipped tooth or broken nose---twice! that was funny!!

i agree that jilian's in it for the losers, and kim's in it for kim.

i was also sad to see B go, but happy to see he had continue to lose and gain the confidence to pursue his dream and passion. that takes some serious guts---go bryan!

i wish i cared more about the people left. the only people i really remember or care about are jerry and kae. i loved her husband's reaction when he walked out from the mirror, he seems as warm and genuine as she is.

the masochist in me wished they had to do that god awful, painful-looking escalator challenge. what was the reasoning behind the hanging one, i dont get it.

The pool challenge seriously stunk. It wasn't interesting to watch and burned no calories. It would have been much better to do one of the climbing challenges so that it would have helped at the weigh in. I was pretty disappointed that everyone was so anti Bill at the challenge too. He took it well though, I think I might have gotten pretty darn moody. He may win a lot of challenges, but he also always seems super supportive of everyone else too.

Is there something between Holly and Nicole that I'm not aware of? She said she had the "opportunity" to watch Nicole dive in and chip her tooth. That seemed pretty harsh to me. In fact, everyone's reaction to it was pretty weird. Everyone thought it was funny and I didn't get that at all. Do they all dislike her?

So glad that Kim is gone. She was on my last nerve. She hasn't learned how Bryan cooks his food until NOW? She never seems to be working with her team nearly as strenuously as Bob or Jillian either.

I agree that Bill will be more responsible when he gets home so if he and Neil make it to the final, there is no way Neil will beat him in percentage.

The only two remaining competitors I care to see in the finals are Bill and Nicole. All the rest have shown such negative traits with their plotting and conniving and game playing. While I applaud their efforts in weight loss and improved health, their gamesmanship disappointed me.

As for Bryan, I do not see why he was considered a big threat. His numbers have been down. Since the end result is based on percentage of weight loss, he posed little thrteat.

I also tire of the strained attempts to build suspense, cutting away during challenges, weigh-ins, and elimination votes and those tired speeches about why they voted off a person. Two hours is just too long and the show could easily be trimmed of some of that fat (pun intended). Things like Allison telling us how much they weighed before and how much they weigh now and how much was lost is so redundant. We can see it posted.

But I do like the show in that it focuses on the battle people have with weight and what factors cause the problem. I suffered several traumatic events in my life in 2003 that sent me into a spiral of depression and despair and sleep problems that led to a weight gain of thirty pounds which I have been unable to lose in spite of serious efforts. The trivia question that said that 75% of Americans will be overweight and/or obese by the year 2015 was scary. Something needs to be done and the food industry should be doing something to rid the aisles of empty calories and high fat, high calorie foods. We're a nation that is eating itself to death.

yourdarklord, no kidding. I think I burned my retinas by the end of your post.

I can't be the only one that thinks that the fix was in with the past challenge. If they did the 78 flights would there have been a giant pack of gum at each landing? And what was up with everyone sporting footwear this time around. Seemed like an advantage over trying to stay up with just the ball and toes to hold onto the pole.

Personally, I'm kind of sad to see Kim gone. She could definitely be grating, but what about Jillian's comment of how they got "rid" of Amy? Nice way to treat one of your trainees, honey. And just looking at how fit Kim keeps herself should be an inspiration to anyone. Stops me from that second bowl of popcorn.
